Can Anglicans be Catholic? NEVER!! Anglicans are Protestants, and the definition of Protestantism is denying the rule and rituals of the church of Rome, and the King or Queen rule the church NOT the Pope!
Anglicanism really wasn't all that unique in seeing itself as being authentic & union w/ the historic Church. Nor was it unique in the ruler seeking political control of the Church. The princes of Germany mainly were interesting seizing Church property for themselves & dispensing church offices as a form of patronage. This is why then insisted on calling themselves reformed. They were simply a reform of the Church.
I'd just like say that this clarifies to me that you can be both Catholic(universal unbroken church) & Protestant(flexibility). Now I believe in conservative theology which upholds the sanctity of marriage & marriage is between a man & a woman. I'm also a true Anglican which combine both Catholic & Protestant elements.
Science, logic and reason or Myth, superstition and NO evidence. The choice is yours. P.S while the sky fairy is making you feel all warm and fuzzy, don't forget the millions starving in the horn of Africa right now. Or the 8 million kids under 5 years of age that die each year from preventable dieases! Have a nice day.....
@RedRedOC We have a tolerant traditon in the Episcopal church of the Anglican communion. The gay bishops, priest and deacons will be judged by Jesus and only Jesus is qualified to judge in truth not humans.
Tolerance of sin is sin as well. Yes, only God can judge us -but in Matthew’s Gospel (18:15-22) Jesus calls us to confront our brothers & sisters when they sin. Turning a blind eye to those whose acts go against God's word - and even going so far as placing them in positions of moral authority is questionable. God will judge you not just by what you’ve done but what you haven’t.
@RedRedOC I do have a discomfort with placing those who go against God,s word in positions of authority, but i also realize that Bishop Gene Robinson while living in abominable sin is also leader of my church in America. The conservatives who are episcopalian who are running of to the roman church are not helping us to get their own church moraly right. We are catholic yet protestant!
Respond to this video... Our Bishops are all equal and not infallible like your tradition imposes on the faithful. If you had given a certain English King an anullment you would not be having these problems now.Besides,Anne Boelyn was hotter than Catherine of Aragon.Hale the Protestant reformation. We are Protestant yet Catholic!
Equality and infallibility are separate matters. Catholic bishops are equal. They all share the same office of the Episcopacy. Infallibility of the Pope is infallibility of the catholic doctrine; not the person himself. The Catholic Church recognizes this – which is why even the Pope goes to confession. The Pope’s office is indeed infallible –the Roman Catholic Doctrine has held up and will continue to hold up to moral and theological scrutiny by would be challengers.
@WayOfTheMaster454 Catholic means universal. Thus, Christianity being universal religion, one of the representatives is the Roman Church. There are Christian Churches in Greek, Russian, Armenian, Egyptian. All these profess Christianity as universal.

Religion is like a penis.
It's fine to have one.
It's fine to be proud of it.
But please, don't whip it out in public and wave it around,
And please, don't try to shove it down my children's throats.

Anglicans CANNOT be Catholic; "Catholic" implies a unity of doctrine and morals.
