Julie Christie won the Oscar for best actress for this role.
Frankly, I have never found her to be a particularly good actress
because her range of characters was too limited.
However, she is tailor-made for this role, much as Madonna
was ideal to play Susan in Desperately Seeking Susan.
The film itself is pretty good, though, Dirk Bogarde is brilliant.
