Well, I thought a 486 SX Upgrade was hotter than hell... I once tried so myself and I messed the socket *lol*. (I was just tryin, already had everything new as hardware (even a newer board) for my "new" 486 DX2/66 *g*. With a DX upgrade to a 586 by AMD, that wasn't a prob, but an 486 SX was way harder, I think. Even tried to upgrade a 486 SLC? By the way... is it even possible to really upgrade the built-in SLC???
i think there were clip on upgrades for chips like that , i know my uncle had gotten a clip on upgrade for an slc 286 that made it a 486. dunno about a 486 clip on tho
Oh the power of the AMD 5x86 133 MHz. If you can change the bus speed to 40 MHz, it ought to be good for 160 MHz. I ran one like that for years. Busted up the Pentium 75s and, at times, P90s.
You know, I strangely really do miss fixing comps with DOS and Win 3.x. Config.sys and Autoexec.bat tweaking. Old DOS gaming. Getting on the web for the first time with Trumpet Winsock and Netscape. Talk about exciting times.
