I'm getting a serious "Fistful of Dollars" vibe from the music. Perhaps it's because the two share a common descending d minor I chord (0:05-0:08). The same chord can be heard near the end of the opening intro to "Dollars." Then again, the ending credits of "Bones" starts with this broken chord as well, save for the fact that it's an octave up and much faster. Lol, apologies for the musical musings :P
@Fluteplayingbandgeek This was the first season opening... they finally added Jai and Annie's sister in the second season! I was happy when I saw that! :)
The intro to the song sounds realllyyyy similar to another song. I can't put my finger on it and it's annoying me. :( Just the bit before she starts singing.
Because of the name of the band, and the genre of the show, it reminds me of the song 'Underneath the mango tree' from Dr.No (the very first Bond movie)
"Mango, banana, and tangerine, sugar and ackee, and cocoa bean".
Yes, I know it's random :) damn that song makes me want a smoothie, brb.

@theykilledthemusic I agree. As much as i should be embarassed to admit it, i fell in love with her when i took my dad to see "The Adventures of Rocky and Bullwinkle" (He's a huge R & B fan.) Piper absolutely stole the show. I've been rooting for her to finally get a project entirely her own to carry for a long time, now!
this is a very clever copy of ennio morricone "for a few dollars more" main theme.only the crappy rap is of thier own.the whistle also is copied fron morricone s music with modifications , more clear copy can be of a indian movie song (fida - nazar nazar) tone to tone copied what a shame!!!!!!
Heh, I love this theme. Reminds me of something you'd hear on a Bond movie. And no, I don't mean stolen/rehashed/ripoff/whatever, I just mean it's got that same kind of "man (or woman in this case :P) of mystery", espionage, spy thriller kind of feel. USA has had some pretty good themes for their original shows, and this is no exception.
If anyone thinks Alias, Chuck or Josh 2.0 were anything close to original then give yourself an F, look in the mirror and say "I'm an idiot." Better yet, try watching something made prior to 1980. From the music, to the opening credits, to the plots....this is ALL retro (there's are at least a dozen TV shows made in the 60's with similar titles and themes). And really, someone really thought Chuck and Josh 2.0 were original? Really? I'm 15 and smarter than that.
@Ramubay Wow, you're really angry. I'm not saying that this show, Jake 2.0, Nakita, etc. are original... no one said that. I was only making modern day comparisons to previously re-hashed plots that others had brought up on this posting. And instead of yelling at everyone maybe you should have given examples of those shows you know SO much about. The Avengers (1960s), Get Smart (1965-ish), etc. Oh, and don't worry about the age thing... we can tell you're just a kid due to your little 'fit.'
@SamanthaMT Can you mention shows any more obvious? You're too green for this conversation. Google spy/detective shows/films (plenty of fansites) and follow through on You Tube for opening credits. Peter Gunn, Honey West, The Protectors, Randall and Hopkirk, Secret Agent (Danger Man), even Wild Wild West. I'll let you do the films, but these nothing here is new. These are guys going back to the vaults and re-doing the old shows. Then go back to the various 40's film series.
@willkillyoulast I'm 15 years 11 months, so close. Someone got me interested in the Emma Peel DVD's of The Avengers when I was about 12 and the same company released a lot of British 60's spy shows so I ended getting hooked on all seasons of The Avengers, Secret Agent, The Prisoner, The Protectors, etc... and stuff like UFO and Space 1999 all of which have that look. That led to seeing American stuff like Honey West, Man from U.N.C.L.E., etc... I think those are the coolest shows ever made.
@Ramubay That's pretty cool. I've heard of very few of them, seen even fewer, and yet I know enough to know they're pretty much the epitome of spy/espionage TV/movie drama. I'm less into espionage than I am straight-up action, so The Bionic Woman (the original series, not the new one) and Renegade are pretty mcuh as 'vintage' as I get with TV shows. Though I do love Alias, I think it managed to be somewhat respectable while being 'modern' for it's time.
@Ramubay , writing Jake 2.0 wrong and pretending you don't know the name exactly makes you an idiot. But hey,you shouldn't be mad,you fucking already know that.
@AndreasNewYorker No, all it shows is that I'm not as obsessed with the show like you are. I have better things to do; apparently you don't. The show is not worth that much of my attention. More importantly, I wonder how you are able to function only knowing about things that occurred from 2003 on. Let's face it, if you had a better grasp you wouldn't have made your comments. You're setting yourself up as a bit of a joke to think Joke 2.0, Jack 2.0 or Jake 2.0 (who cares?) was original.
When I first saw these credits on the show I was like WTF they look cheap and nasty and not in keeping with the tone of the show at all. However, it's grown on me, well at least the song has, I now kinda like them.
This song is just annoyingly catchy. I had it i in my head for nearly 2 days after watching the last episode.
And I'm wondering when they're gonna get Robert Plant to provide a song for the show considering they've used all Led Zeppelin songs for the episode titles. lol
Some people are naturally going to make comparisons to ALIAS...and rightfully so (I've noticed some blatant parallels). I don't think it is unfair, because audiences are hungry for something completely original. Can you blame them? Nevertheless, Covert Affairs is some good spy fun on a Tuesday night. Yeah, it can be a bit too campy for me at times, but I have to admit, it has grown on me a little. :)
Can someone explain to me how the credits of Chuck and Covert Affairs are the same? I have seen the Chuck one and I don't see ANY similarities (except for the "cartoony" parts but what show HASN'T done a cartoonish intro?
Last time I checked, it was the story and actors that made a show great, not the intro sequence. And it's not too bad in it's own way, odd, but still well made.
@NihilistKittenArmada And I think that the black shadow (or guy?) she is dancing with is Jai wilcox. The only one (from the main cast) who is actually not there is her sister
I want Alias back! Credits Suck... Chris Gorham looks retarded in it. I see, but I can't see. He needs bionic eyes or something soon. I'm gonna bail if not.
@shadedcolor The song is not "Dog Days Are Over" although there seems to be some misconception that it is. It's "Can You Save Me" by Apple Trees and Tangerines. It's not on iTunes but it is on their Myspace page since they aren't too well known yet. It's a great song though!
Ok, people. I'm getting sick and tired of people talking about ALIAS and Chuck. A show is going to resemble another show, NO MATTER WHAT. Deal. The opening credits? Sure it resembles Chuck. But what does Chuck resemble? First thing that comes to mind: James Bond. When you deal with a spy like show, you're going to get similarities. OK?
@ShibaGurl Funnily enough Chuck was kind a rip off of Jake 2.0 which had Chris Gorham in it. It's like a massive degree, pretzel thing. And Alias was more like Nakita... just sayin'.

@NihilistKittenArmada And I think that the black shadow (or guy?) she is dancing with is Jai wilcox. The only one (from the main cast) who is actually not there is her sister

I REALLY love this show, but I think they could have done a better job with the opening credits

I don't like the opening that much. It looks cheap.

I want Alias back! Credits Suck... Chris Gorham looks retarded in it. I see, but I can't see. He needs bionic eyes or something soon. I'm gonna bail if not.

@shadedcolor it dosent sound like it nor the lyrics are the same

OK?
ShibaGurl 1 year ago 38
@ShibaGurl Funnily enough Chuck was kind a rip off of Jake 2.0 which had Chris Gorham in it. It's like a massive degree, pretzel thing. And Alias was more like Nakita... just sayin'.

@ShibaGurl Chuck resembling bond? Not at all the show was practically copied from Jake 2.0. The literal premise down to the feel is copied from Jake.

@ShibaGurl Did people actually watch Chuck??? I can't believe it.

This show remembers ALIAS...
But she is not like Sydney, she is more like Rachel Gibson (in season 5)
I'm waching this show because some people told that is just like ALIAS
But is not ALIAS, IT'S DIFFERENT!
OMG! I WANT ALIAS BACK!

I love the opening credits, they have a "classic spy" feel to them.
