My father was so ashamed of me as a child that he never once even played catch with me. He was ashamed because I had Epilepsy. Though I have a Master's degree and have led a life that should make any father proud, I was damaged goods from the start, even though I grew out of Epilepsy! I have never experienced love like that shown in this video. Phil

I submit that it would not. I submit that you would dismiss the validity of said ancient writings, come up with bogus reasons that they couldn't be true, and generally refuse to acknowledge the possibility that there's Somebody bigger and more important than you, with inherent authority over you.

It really angers me to hear so many comments about how God made this all possible. There is no god, this man had a disabled child and did all of this with his own sheer will & determination. If you want to say god was involved in any way, why don't you say that God caused his son to be disabled in the first place, what sort of sick god would do that. Sure, my sons mirical healing of a malignant tumour in the brain stem and my friends healing after a car crash that left him brain dead. There is no point... Christians believe what they are taught by their family and schools when they were children.
Once you are indoctinated into religion, it is very hard to believe anything else. I would say that given all the evidence about evolution, geology & dating technology, most Christians would probbaly change their beliefs. The problem is that most religious schools actually remove or cencor science books in an attempt to hide the truth from their brainwashee's.
Speaking as someone who grew up a Christian and then walked away from it for years, I can tell you that I agree, most Christians have been brought up that way and never question it because they don't know any other way to look at life. But I know God is real because I see him working in my life, even when I didn't want to believe He was there. Being a Christian is about believing.
If you can provide one single piece of hard evidence for the existence of God, I will start believing in god.... In fact i will give you a million dollars if you can prove that god exists beyond any doubt. I have studied both sides. the difference between you and me is, I LOOKED for the truth. I didn't sway toward what I assume as you obviously do, because if you even saw the Hoyt Story, you would know that Rick Hoyt does not feel crippled at all, his first race was to show a paralyzed athlete that there is life beyond your paralysis. He has a physical disability, & an amazing mind. God created everyone to love eachother and to "all be parts of the same body" this story is a testament to that.
If god wants us to all love each other... Why does't he just come down and tell us all that there is only one real religion and eveyone should stop fighting about whose religion is the correct one.

And in Mark 28 1-2 where you point out that he says the stone is still there, that's because he's telling at the point where the stone is being moved in that exact verse! The other three gospels are telling from a point after the stone had already been moved.

I look at flowers and mountains and my baby, and know that there is no way this just popped into existence. The Bible makes too much sense to be a lie. I'm not a Christian, but I don't understand why do people argue or post comments about christianity if they don't believe in it. You're right, you may not believe in god, but do you have to Prick the believer's faith by asking about whether god exists? They have faith in god, and thats good enough, they don't need unnessesary comments.

One of the most beautiful stories i have ever heard, i have seen a lot of bad things in my life along with a lot of people who make bad choices in life and the consequences have been grave but to see that there are people out there whoare good and gracious and will do anything for someone in their life that they love means everything and more to me.

What if four separately penned, cross-checkable, and reliable history books were written by eyewitnesses about the events that fulfilled each provision of these prophecies precisely? What if He then ensured that all of these writings were assembled into one book that was subsequently perpetuated, unaltered apart from translation, for 2,000 years? Would that suffice to persuade you?

What if, say, He raised the dead? Better yet, what if He incarnated himself as a human, allowed himself to be killed, and THEN raised HIMSELF?In fact, just to go one better, to make sure that it was perfectly clear what had happened, what if over the course of 4000+ years He inspired prophet after prophet after prophet to predict in minute detail the events surrounding the birth, life, death, and resurrection of this person?

It´s beautiful, maybe. But he must have done it for some personal interest. Maybe he did it because it set a nearly imposible goal that he could someday meet. For the thrill of accomplishing your dream. But what I think doesnt take away the fact that he is a great person. A person with the need for recognition, like all others.

It really angers me to hear so many comments about how God made this all possible. There is no god, this man had a disabled child and did all of this with his own sheer will & determination. If you want to say god was involved in any way, why don't you say that God caused his son to be disabled in the first place, what sort of sick god would do that. As a disbled person myself, you Christians make me sick with the way you selectivly decide what to credit god for and convienently skip others.

Sorry to hear this Alister. The big picture is that all God does is good but there is Satan who also is called the prince of the powers of the air. It is him who we atribute all the misery in the world.Rread the first 2 chapters of Job in the Bible and Ch 20 of Revelation. This father demonstrates Gods love to us by his own love to his son who is so disabled. Just as we are disabled by sin! He is not doing it for self interest but because he loves his son! God bless them both and you too friend.

If God is so powerful and mighty and created everything including Satan, then why doesn't God just get rid of Satan, surely that would be the most morally right thing to do?

Thanks for the valid point Alastair, God will destroy Satan and yes He did create him in the beginning. The Bible says he was Lucifer and was perfect till pride and iniquity was found in his heart.. If God did destroy him immeadiately then He would be a tyrant. But God is love and demonstrated this by allowing Jesus to die fo our sins. yours too my friend. The Bible says we will be all given new bodies-perfect bodies. Now we have peopele like this man showing Gods unselfish love and acceptance

Sure, my sons mirical healing of a malignant tumour in the brain stem and my friends healing after a car crash that left him brain dead. I was actually bought with a mixture of athiest, spiritualist and hindu/bhuddist beliefs. I began to have confidence in the Bible when I saw how prophecy had been fulfilled in history. God doesn't set out to prove He exists and I am not going toeither. I can only say how God changed my heart and gave me peace. Something you can have too if youlook at this man

I put it to you that there is no God and the only reason you believe in the Christian god is that you were born into a Christian family and brainwashed accordingly. Just as if you were born in India, you would believe in the Hindu God.
The truth is, there is no evidence whatsoever to prove that god exists. The Bible is a book written by men and not proof of gods existence.

You bring up a valid point but if God only helped only those who follow him then every one would follow Him! People would follow Him for the loaves and fish and not for the right reason. This father demonstrated Gods love by acceptinghis son as his beloved son and the son responded with love for his father. God has shown you his love even though you have been born with a problem. My son was too! But I don't blame God or anyone else. Circumstances do not dictate my beliefe in God. I still belive

alastair78, as a Christian, I have researched the scientific facts that point to a Creator God, not even necessarily the benevolent LORD that I serve. There's actually a lot of factual truth that point to a God. Proving to you that Christianity if truth is harder, because that's just part of the the way sin works. alastair78... the point of Cause and Effect is that all causes point back to 1 uncaused cause, that started all existence, life, motion, movement, et cetera. I believe that cause is the Christian God. However, I don't know whether you are agnostic or atheistic, so I cannot know what words to give you.
The point is this-- There is an intelligent creator God. Even scientists acknowledge the fallicies of all attempts to prove otherwise.

I can't prove 100% that Unicorns don't exist but I am pretty damn sure they don't due to a lack of evidence. In the same way there is zero evidence for the existence of God which is why they call religion FAITH rather than FACT

So when you made your lunch the other day are you saying that you, yourself, are made by something? I'm just suggesting that it started somewhere, somehow, and perhaps this God, doesn't run by the same rules as something created. Which is why He claims to be the creator. The start, the beginning and the end, alpha and omega etc. Until we assume the position of God, which for me is entirely scary, we probably won't understand everything. And I love a good mystery.

No one knows yet. That is what science is all about, tryng to work out how things happen by finding evidence. However as the universe is so massive, we will never find out before our sun burns out.
I am not pretending to know the answer. You are inventing an answer in the form of an imaginary being to help you deal with your unanswered questions. There is no evidence that god exists. You might as well just say the flying spagetti monster created the earth, it would make as much sense.

There is no point... Christians believe what they are taught by their family and schools when they were children.
Once you are indoctinated into religion, it is very hard to believe anything else. I would say that given all the evidence about evolution, geology & dating technology, most Christians would probbaly change their beliefs. The problem is that most religious schools actually remove or cencor science books in an attempt to hide the truth from their brainwashee's.

Speaking as someone who grew up a Christian and then walked away from it for years, I can tell you that I agree, most Christians have been brought up that way and never question it because they don't know any other way to look at life. But I know God is real because I see him working in my life, even when I didn't want to believe He was there. Being a Christian is about believing.

If you can provide one single piece of hard evidence for the existence of God, I will start believing in god.... In fact i will give you a million dollars if you can prove that god exists beyond any doubt. Give me a test so I can see that God is real, something like having a whole church of people pray to heal an amputee and let me witness his arm grow back. Then i will beleive in God and give you a million dollars no questions asked.

-The universe is expanding;
-The earth has 7 layers;
Celestial bodies float in a certain orbit;
-etc
This is NOT a test, this is the proof. God sent a book which is the proof.. so saying "make god write something in the sky" is absolutely nonsense if the proof already has been given.

I have studied both sides. the difference between you and me is, I LOOKED for the truth. I didn't sway toward what I assume as you obviously do, because if you even saw the Hoyt Story, you would know that Rick Hoyt does not feel crippled at all, his first race was to show a paralyzed athlete that there is life beyond your paralysis. He has a physical disability, & an amazing mind. God created everyone to love eachother and to "all be parts of the same body" this story is a testament to that.

Because if God came down and told us all what to believe, we would all be robots. There would be no free will. He wants us to choose. And I never said I have a religion. You make way too many assumptions. I simply believe in God, and that Jesus died as a sacrifice for my sins, and that he is alive, and that he loved incredibly and that is the right way to live. This is the way I believe. Christian to me is "Christ follower" not "religion"

There is hard evidence that Jesus lived and died on the cross and there is now an empty tomb with no body to be found. There are thousands of historical witnesses to his life before the cross, and hundreds who saw him after he came back to life. Also please note these contradctions in the bible regarding Jesus Tomb.
Mark 10:34 - Jesus says he will rise again after three days.
Matthew 12:40 - Jesus says he will be in the earth three days and three nights...
Mark 16:4, Luke 24:2, John 20:1 - The stone in front of Jesus tomb had been rolled away
Matthew 28:1-2 - The stone in front of Jesus tomb was still in place and would be rolled away later
etc etc...

Well as for your claim to the contradiction "three days later" and "three days and three nights" are you serious? This is so petty. It's not even a contradiction, it's the way two different people word a story.
And in Mark 28 1-2 where you point out that he says the stone is still there, that's because he's telling at the point where the stone is being moved in that exact verse! The other three gospels are telling from a point after the stone had already been moved.

Two: Darwin did not just contradict himself, he completely RENOUNCED one belief for the other, & went back. I dare you to find that big of a "contradiction" in the Bible. And please make it challenging and specific, I'm tired of petty arguments.

I am insinuating that the entire bible and God is a fairy tale and people believe the story because it makes them feel better about how messed up the world is. Unfortunatly there is still no proof of God's existence and if you can provide some, please do :)

I look at flowers and mountains and my baby, and know that there is no way this just popped into existence. The Bible makes too much sense to be a lie. You can argue every historical account and every piece of evidence you come across, but at some point, it just comes down to Faith. I can't force faith or belief on you.

The universe resulted from chance or design.
It is highly improbable that it resulted by chance (for a multitude of reasons, such as the perfection of the distances between the sun, moon, other planets, and other galaxies, not even taking into account super-galaxies, et cetera, et cetera in their relation to the Earth. That's one proof)
Therefore, it is highly probable that the universe has design.
Design, in turn, points to a designer, who I call the LORD.
