That's because tax is a means by which the government controls inflation and demand more than it is anything else. Deficit spending is often times necessary.
But you're right, it isn't enough. Yet, you argue for smaller government. This makes no sense. Make the federal government larger. Make all law enforcement, road crews, etc., Federal employees - not some local, some state, some federal. Small government is the reason you pay taxes and fees for everything.
Here is an example of how government works (or doesn't work, you decide)
About 15 years ago I read a study about the food stamp program in Ohio. For every tax dollar that went to support the program, only 28 cents actually got to the person who was in need. The other 72 cents went to run the program.
That's a state issue, in which there is a state income tax. I rest my case. When you allow states to form 50 other governments under the federal government, you end up with a huge mess. Bureaucracy works. Just think if we had private sector for-profit organizations running our police forces, mail, water treatment, etc. None of it would be efficient, and it would constantly increase in price.
On top of that, add Ron Paul's idea of private-sector airline control. It's a dumb idea. He believes that 9/11 wouldn't have happened if people were allowed to carry guns on airplanes. Could be true, but it's completely outlandish to think it should be legal to carry a handgun on a plane.
This makes absolutely no sense. A.) Comparing elective and covered surgery is utterly ridiculous - most, if not all non-cosmetic elective surgeries are covered by health insurance. Eye surgeries, hip replacements, knee replacements. For a cosmetic example, even breast augmentation is sometimes covered if it's needed as a result of breast cancer. All procedures continue to skyrocket because doctors continue to make more money. That's how economics works. Has nothing to do with competition.

That left 84% owned by private corporations - 83% of which was marked as "high-risk." It had nothing to do with government, and everything to do with corporate greed.

The interest rate can destroy or improve our economy, because the financial system's growth depends on it.
We should do this: Those who want higher taxes get to pay them, afterall, high taxes are a good thing in your world. Those who prefer lower taxes, will pay less, and will have more money to really stimulate the economy. This way we get the best of both worlds.

Sorry to inform you, but government is not a business. It doesn't operate on a checkbook, and it doesn't put its money in banks. It doesn't have a credit score, and it doesn't take out loans from a mortgage company. Your point on the stimulus money would be true if it had only gone to one industry, but since a wide variety of firms can keep people employed, they'll start spending their money at other firms that also received stimulus money, thus, keeping their people employed.

Sounds like you need a quick history lesson. The Congress makes the laws. In the past 30 years, the democrates have been in control of congress most of the time (including now, when we are exploding the federal debt) But I don't blame just the democrates, the republicans are to blame also. We have a "big" government problem, not a "dem v. GOP problem.

But you're right, it isn't enough. Yet, you argue for smaller government. This makes no sense. Make the federal government larger. Make all law enforcement, road crews, etc., Federal employees - not some local, some state, some federal. Small government is the reason you pay taxes and fees for everything.

That's a state issue, in which there is a state income tax. I rest my case. When you allow states to form 50 other governments under the federal government, you end up with a huge mess. Bureaucracy works. Just think if we had private sector for-profit organizations running our police forces, mail, water treatment, etc. None of it would be efficient, and it would constantly increase in price.

This makes absolutely no sense. A.) Comparing elective and covered surgery is utterly ridiculous - most, if not all non-cosmetic elective surgeries are covered by health insurance. Eye surgeries, hip replacements, knee replacements. For a cosmetic example, even breast augmentation is sometimes covered if it's needed as a result of breast cancer. All procedures continue to skyrocket because doctors continue to make more money. That's how economics works. Has nothing to do with competition.

That left 84% owned by private corporations - 83% of which was marked as "high-risk." It had nothing to do with government, and everything to do with corporate greed.

Once again, you need to pick up an economics book. Look at the ones that called themselves "conservatives," then check their track records on war and the economy. Minus LBJ, it looks like the liberals win. But, you're right, perhaps I should've gone with "neoconservative." And the 1990's budget wasn't Newt or Bill, but Greenspan. You should read about deficit spending and "printing money." You'll find that the private sector "prints" more money than the Fed. I'll explain if needed.

I didn't say they weren't liberals. They were, in fact, great presidents. Economics isn't rocket science, and it's something you still don't understand. $100 in a paycheck is miniscule at best. You conservatives have had a hard-on for taxes and low inflation for decades. What you don't realize is the most powerful economic tool is monetary policy, not fiscal policy. The interest rate can destroy or improve our economy, because the financial system's growth depends on it.

There is an explosion about to happen. Once the stimulas money has run it's course, there will be more layoffs. The deficit will continue to soar, and the money we are "printing" will be worth less. I believe the result is what Economists call this inflation. The perfect storm...the solution: more government!

Sorry to inform you, but government is not a business. It doesn't operate on a checkbook, and it doesn't put its money in banks. It doesn't have a credit score, and it doesn't take out loans from a mortgage company. Your point on the stimulus money would be true if it had only gone to one industry, but since a wide variety of firms can keep people employed, they'll start spending their money at other firms that also received stimulus money, thus, keeping their people employed.

I'm going to assume you haven't by saying "The private sector doesn't print money." When PRIVATE banks belonging to the PRIVATE SECTOR make loans, they basically print money out of thin air. They only have to back 10% of their deposits. If a bank has $100 in deposits, they can loan $1,000. The other $900 comes from thin air.

You didn't educate me on shit. A.) When government institutions own 16% of the housing market, 84% belongs to the private sector. Who else would've loaned them the money? The mob? B.) Fannie/Freddie didn't loan money to anybody. They bought their 16% of the market share from the 100% the private sector owned. It's called "securitization," and frees up capital in private banks to make more loans. I don't see how you possibly think the US Government holds responsibility for only 16%.

Sounds like you need a quick history lesson. The Congress makes the laws. In the past 30 years, the democrates have been in control of congress most of the time (including now, when we are exploding the federal debt) But I don't blame just the democrates, the republicans are to blame also. We have a "big" government problem, not a "dem v. GOP problem.
I totally agree with you that the people in office are not conservative, not very many anyway. Certainly none of the Dems are conservative.
