@silvicar1 it would all depend on the horse. Nose band's aren't western, (I do western so I'm not sure if this is correct) but nose bands are used to move the pressure of some of the bridle from under the chin to the nose. It's not much of a difference, and it all depends on the horse. My horse hates nose bands.

Safe ranches are few and far between, in fact one nearby just recently closed down, I wonder where the horses went. The market crashed because there were so many horses, and many of them are without homes. I would rather see a horse slaughtered, than die slowly, painfully, and unloved

@iris5678 Slaughter houses dont end things quickly for horses. Although the alternative is not favourabe either, slaughter houses only provide death after a long and stressful journey filled with waiting, and watching everyone in agony being killed before your eyes. Sorry to make this so dramatic, but abatoirs and slaughter houses certainly dont provide a quick painless death, and they certainly won't be treated kindly whether they are sent to be killed or abandoned in a paddock.

His information about the Przewalski's horse reintroduction to Mongolia is incorrect. The first release was at a site in the Gobi in about 1992. They lost 2/3s of their horses in the winter of 2009/2010. The next one was at Hustai National Park, where he took the photo, in, I think, 1994. There is a third site, in western Mongolia, Khomiin Tal, which started with 22 horses in 2004. I've been there once and to Hustai a number of times.

Interesting that in order to be considered art, almost all these horses have been photographed removed from their natural environment and in totally bizarre situations.

It's as if horses in nature, being horses is not enough - or is somehow wrong. And of course we have to have the Islington-esque pretentious commentary over the top.

This says a lot to me about how lost we are as a society and how art reflects this ...... and vice versa.
