Lips are probably the thing I have the most issues with. And usually (mostly on eyebrows and jawlines) I will get one side perfect, then go to do the other side, and CANNOT get them to match. Still pretty beginner at drawing.

Ok first i hate hearing you traditional artists, it's so irritating and snobby like your so much better because you don't have an undo button. Guess what? I do both traditional and digital mediums. I draw, photomanipulate etc. both takes alot of patience and discipline. Surprising thing? I can draw well, very well, on paper but try to draw on a computer? even with a tablet? I can't, i fail.

This person is good. accept it.

This video should be titled "How I Draw Mouths, using a computer program called..." It is not instructive. I am an art teacher, and this video, though interesting, is just plain self indulgent. Learning to draw 'real world' objects without the luxury of an 'un-do' button or blur tool requires discipline that computer applications just do not offer. Also, the music is distracting to the point of being obnoxious!

@321beth321 One of the tricks with teeth is you want to try not define the spaces between each tooth, and if you do it will look like there is too big of a space between the teeth. This is because a person's teeth only has very light shading around the edges of the tooth. If you must define the spaces between the teeth then do so very lightly.

This way of giving a tutorial is actually very helpful. I know I learn better by seeing the process AND the finished product, and I like to see the nuances of the artist's lines. Sometimes a step by step tutorial doesn't always cut it, and I like to "draw along" instead of having to memorize a set of steps.

I myself have never used a computer program,digital tablet,ect so i cannot make an objective comment.One advantage of digital that is apparent is that there is more leeway for experimentation as opposed to other media where supplies would be rapidly exhausted.Whoever made this has a keen eye for structure and proportion.Very talented Very informative

You can observe can't you. You shouldn't need someone to hold your hand at this stage. Think of it like this: he's given you a spoon, now it's up to you to figure out how to get food into your mouth with it. (I know, it's not a very good example but I hope you understand). =D

The computer has nothing to do with this, this just depends on whether the artists likes the sound of their voice, has good sound quality in their recording equipment and have anything to say about the way they draw.

Lovely detail. I don't draw the middle of the 'Cupid's bow', not yet anyway, or put dimples. And gender's another problem, some of my drawings are female, but it was either taken male with long hair or a rude joke. The teeth are actually easy, it's just the tension that gets the most of us.

Also, nice teeth, neat and properly shaded. Not buck and no space. Brilliant!

No offense...but people who can't draw certainly CANNOT draw with a digital tablet. Therefore on paper it's much easier since the artist has a grasp on the actual tip of the pencil....So tell me 1 reason why he couldn't do this on regular paper.

@Marciejjj Maybe he doesnt have a web cam, or a regular camera. And let me tell you. Drawing on the computer, after using a tablet after awhile makes drawing on paper with pencil or any other medium is harder then you think. I can't draw on paper anymore. But I draw perfectly on the computer. (Not.. Completely perfect, but hopefully you understand). But no offense to people who cant draw properly. Staring at someone draw isnt going to help them. Practicing does.

Clearly you're doing it incorrectly. Keep practicing. Doing it "multiple times" isn't enough. Keep doing it til you get it right! :D

What I do is use the person's face to do a proportion, kind of like math.

So you'd sort of mentally measure the photo (or person) and say okay the space between the lip and the nose is equal to the width of the fattest part of the lower lip. (I don't know if that's actually true for your picture, I was just making up an example.)

So anyway, does that make any sense? It's hard for me to explain in words, but it always helps me when I do faces.
