  • you should post this on vimeo for better video quality

youtube really makes a mess of it

  • Sounds like this should of been the song on 28 days later.

  • actually, godspeed you! black emperor did the song east hastings which was in 28 days later, same record as this song

  • I know... But this would fit better. This of course is disregarding the fact that Godspeed! publicly denounced any type of mainstream musical contact.. And here they are putting their music in films, making them completely reprehensible to any statement or effort at pseudo-intellectuality in which they would have conducted prior. Don't get me wrong, I love Godspeed, there just leaning abit too morally gray for my taste. They drown in contradiction.

  • ohh i see, i read your comment wrong :P

i know what you mean though with the contradiction. it seems that whenever someone or a group of people try to become that outspoken, they overrun themselves in contradiction. having strong views on anything is a tough thing to do and uphold.

  • I guess so. My morals and views are fairly strong. Not to strong. I'm pretty open minded. Just not to conforming, or linear.

  • About 911 being a government conspiracy....who gives a fuck? Why does it matter? It wasn't that big of an attack, and even if the government didn't directly do it there's proof they knew about it. So what about the 1 million + dead in Iraq or the millions dead in Afghanistan? The government has killed millions more, the fact that a relativly small amount of Americans might have been killed by the U.S. doesn't matter at all. So who gives a fuck who did it?

  • The members of GYBE would say 911 was a government conspiracy.

  • I thought this song was about Native Americans

  • 9/11 = inside job.

"Repent, the kingdom of heaven is at hand."

    SEE:

    ENDGAME

    America: Freedom to Fascism

    Megiddo: The March to Armageddon

    God Bless.

  • This song feels like it's about a modern empire falling to it's death.

  • yeah, kind of like America...

  • I think that everyone has great ideas as to what this video means, and that it depends upon what tragedy really moves a person. Whether it be, 9/11, the Holocaust, The displacement of Native Americans in North America, or the book of Revelations, they are all great opinions. It could also have something to do with jail considering that it was written for an unfinished film project by Efrim Menuck a founding member of the band. I apologize for the terrible grammar lol.

  • Revelations is being fulfilled now....

  • I find it hard to talk negatively about this video as it is a very nice piece of work, but I feel it does not to the song justice to associate it with September 11.

  • It was written in 1997... unless they're prophets I don't see how they wrote it about 2001. It's about the end of the world. Whenever that will come.

  • Alright, you got me... but even so, when you consider the lyrics, it sounds almost like a 9/11 esque situation... i.e. the end of the world

  • to me it sounds like a song about an apocalyptic dystopian world scarred by some massive war

  • 9/11 wasnt the end of the world, worst things have happened, the holocaust?

  • sure. but addmitedly, 9/11 wasnt to great now was it? besides think about the lyrics... they accuratly describe what happened on september 11th, at least some of them, and many of the metaphors can be interpreted to involve 9/11. Im not saying 9/11 was the end of the world, but its the thing that fits the song best in my opinion, even if the song isnt actually about it

  • It does work really well.

GYBE is such a great band.

  • The significance of it wasn't the body count, it was that mass murder was captured on camera and the culprits were given a blank check in exchange.

It lead to Afghanistan/Iraq, ungodly number of black ops and possibly Iran.

I would not be surprised if the total chain of events leads to a body count that will shadow all of modern history.

  • the end of all things is at hand.

  • soon. very soon.

  • go waste your life somewhere else

  • Amazing video....

    Very amazing!!!

  • GYBE shakes me to the core... good vid.

  • Actually, I compiled the original footage in Final Cut then exported it. I used Virtual Dub to break into sequenced images. Then I created an automation in PS 7 to add 3 filters - Noise, Sharpen and Graphic Pen and re-saved the file. Set a Batch, then used QT to recompile the images and export the video. I then brought it back into FCP and changed the Contrast setting and added audio. This was done in 2001 so it wasn't as simple as adding an effect (which you can do now) in Final Cut.

  • Kudos. I like it a lot.

  • Check out my "Utopia" video. I also used Dead Flag Blues. Great song. Great video. Really nice textures and pacing.

  • Stunning video. Thanks for remind me of one of the greatest bands of all time.

  • AWesome video for Deadflag Blues...Godspeed you! Black Emperor was the best band that ever gave us anything.

  • can u show me how you did that effect?

  • That was brilliant it is a perfect video.

  • fajny kawałek (szkoda że słabej jakości), tylko video do bani

  • PandyPandy,

what is not music about it? they use instruments, patterns that are based on timed signature, etc...? The closest thing I could compare it to is 20th Century Classical Contemporary. What is really music then - Bands that play in 4/4 with typical love lyrics? I'd say that they're not really pop. If they are not music, then Kronos Quartet, Giorgi Ligeti and others would not be considered music.

  • hmmm

    its not really music

  • Beautifully done. GYBE's music often brings tears to my eyes. so beautiful and melancholy. You captured that brilliantly.

  • Hah, I'm not really sure GY!BE would agree on having Bush's voice on there. Bush cut-up track at the end of the Yanqui U.X.O. LP and all that.

  • P . E . R . F . E . C . T .

  • thank you so much. just wondering, does the P.E.R.F.E.C.T. stand for something? If not, thank you extra much. :)

  • LOve it, thats what so kool about gybe, all their songs are so dark but yet beautiful

  • very true. how good is this band? i'd love to see them live.

  • they're just as amazing live. they use film imagery as well.

  • Very Good Man. That's my favorite band. I gave you a five star rating and added this video to my favorites. Good job, keep up the good work.

  • thank you so much. i'm glad other GYBE fans like you approve of it. so dark, yet beautiful.
