INTERESTING, WE GOT HIT WITH SO MUCH SNOW LAST WINTER IT MADE ME SICK TO MY STOMACH. WE WERE GETTING SNOW BY THE FOOT EVERY OTHER DAY. I FIND IT VERY DISTURBING WHEN I CAN'T RIDE. THE SNOW HAS COME EARLY FOR US THIS OCTOBER, AND WITH MOST OF THE LEAVES STILL ON THE TREES, THIS SNOW STORM COULD BE REALLY BAD. BUT IF THE ROADS ARE CLEAR ENOUGH, I'LL BE RIDING TOMORROW. THANKS FOR RESPONDING.
@FZ6R09 You must be in New England or near the city. I hope the trees don't start falling on the power lines there. Lost my power for 5 days (in winter) once in a similar situation.
WHEN I FIRST SAW THE FJR I KNEW I HAD TO HAVE IT. BUT BECAUSE OF THE SIZE, WEIGHT AND I JUST PASSED THE SAFETY COURSE I WENT WITH THE FZ6R. 3,700 MILES AND 4 MONTHS LATER, I PURCHASED 2010 FJR, IN JUST OVER A YEARS TIME I PUT 15,000 MILES ON IT. THE FJR IS A GREAT BIKE YOU GET THE BEST OF BOTH WORLDS, SPORT & TOURING. I ENJOY YOUR VID'S KEEP POSTING.
@idaho9088 HAHA. The FJR has got some giddy up and holds the road real well. I live in upstate NY in the Finger Lakes. Me and a couple of other old guys are going across the country starting in May and probably be home by the end of May or early June. The plan is 10 days out, 10 days on the coast up to Seattle and then 10 days home.
I'm gonna make a run at Glacier NP and Yellowstone (never seen either. ). Probably be there around 20-21 of May. I'll be posting short videos.
cool phil...bet thats a bit faster than the old burgie...now all you got to do is ship it to england and come on an adventure with me and the boys :-)
@batcave55 It is just a wee bit faster!!! :-> Good for touring and blowing BMW's off the road. (I know some of your mates have BMW's.).
I'd love to come to England and ride with you guys. Russia WOW! But, you should come here next year. Going to try to go to Alaska!! It's a funny old world and you never know what can happen and where people might show up.
Hello, we also have the FJR-1300 bought it new February 2010 model and love it , you can also see our other bike ,2009 Honda Hornet ,but have sold it , the FJR is so comfortable , as you may know here in Australia we have super long distances to cover, can be hours on end to towns , fuel consumption is great average of 20 to 23 kilometers per litre, (Multiply by 4.55) this will convert to a gallon, 90 to 102 kilometers to the gallon , devide by 1.61 for Miles per gallon..
Very nice bike! I drive a CB 600 at the moment and I am looking for a sport tourer now. Thinking this or VFR 800 vtec, I like the looks of the VFR abit better but this black one of yours is also very beautiful and the fjr is alot more powerful. How is the handling? Is it sporty or more tour like? Anyway congrats on your bike! (Harley riders will never wave unless you drive a harly)
@fruithero Hi and thanks for compliment about my FJR. I've got a pair of Michelin Pilot Road 2's on and I feel like I'm stuck to the road on most curves.I have 14,000 miles on the bike and this is my first sport touring bike. I think it handles GREAT. But, I've only been riding for about 3 years. Check out YouTube user JimNTexas. He's been riding longer and likes his FJR.
HappyThanksgiving even though you're in the Netherlands. :->
Hey KeukaRyder, I'm guessing that you're a lake over from me. I also have a FJR in the Bristol Hills. I bought mine in FL this spring and rode it home via Tail of the Dragon and BRP. This bike was made for that area. Feel free to throw me a line via skylodgevacation
How's the saddle and other ergo's? I'm trading my C50T Boulevard up to an ST this fall or next spring. I have it narrowed down to the FJR, the Concours14 and the Triumph Sprint GT 1050 triple, and what with test rides being impossible I have to rely on reports from others. Any input would be great. Thanks.
The saddle took me some getting use to. In hind-sight, I think the problem was wearing shorts under my riding pants (ATGATT). I got some handlebar risers from MotorcyleLarry (check the web) for about $80. The risers move the bars up 1/8 inch and toward you 1/2 inch. I think that
I probably should've got the triple-tree clamp which, according to JimNTexas, makes the riding position like a Goldwing. I can almost flat foot the bike and I'm 5'9".
I like the bike and so does the wife. In fact, we are going to ride the Blue Ridge Pkwy this fall.
The bike doesn't lack for power, handles really well for new ST riders (like me) and even low-speed isn't too bad given there is 6 gallon gas tank above the CoG.
(Low speed handling use to be a beef about the Concours)
Except for the adjustable wind-screen, there is none of the nice features of a BMW ST. But, it is a lot cheaper.
@KeukaRyder Thanks for all the input. Have fun on the BRP. I did the whole thing, including Skyline Drive last month and had a blast! Don't forget to hit the Cherahola Skyway while you're in that neck of the woods. Well, I'm off to sit on an FJR...thanks again!
@lucabrasi1337 Good luck! Don't forget to check out FJRiders.com. I'll send you a note when the wife and I are getting ready to do the BRP . Maybe we could do a meetup.
@KeukaRyder We hit the parkway on vacation, don't live close by or I'd be game. I sat on an FJR yesterday and really liked it. Too bad the salesman wouldn't let me ride it or I might have done the deal right on the spot.
@KeukaRyder Just wanted to let you know, I found a 2009, barely used, and pulled the trigger. I concur with your feelings on the FJR. It's an incredible machine!
@mhks68 Oh hell, son. everyone has listened to George Jones once. Even me an acid rock reject from the 60's. No worries about telling your friends. I don't have any either. ;->
i love my fjr i've had three its the best car i have ever had, smooth fast and ooh! enjoy it fjr1300s are fantastic mine is a 08 black the right color 50 mpg uk not bad for a big bike.
@brybish They are wonderful! I was on a road trip last week and had my FJR near a GoldWing. I think my FJR could have been packed into one of the GoldWing luggage carriers.
The GoldWing is like a couch on 2 wheels. What a fascinating concept!
I traded in my Suzuki 1250 Bandit for the Burgy. Now that think really shifted. In fact it loved a good thrashing. Just not that comfortable, your new bike looks very comfortable. Have a good trip and thanks for replying.
@spatzk The 650 is good first bike/scooter. Check out TheSmyrnaCowboy on youtube. He's got a 650 and loves it.
I had a burgie 400 but decided to move up (big time) to a touring bike for me and the wife. Now we ride together and go on trips. Next week we're going up to Adirondack Mountains to do some touring and shoot some video. Thanks for watching!
i have had 3 fjr's they feel just right maybe it's a yamaha thing. the designer maybe the same as me but it just feels right. superb bike i recomend it. i use mine as my "car".
@KeukaRyder hi don't give me credit were it is not deserved the snow vid's were in my truck. there is a biking line i don't like to cross and its ice, you cant fight it but it will get you if its there.you take care out there.
I have the same bike. It is my second fjr. I actually wanted something different, but when I tested the other (bmw, kwaka, and honda) they couldn't match it for comfort or performance. Unless somebody comes up with something extraordinary my next bike will probably be a fjr.
P.s. I don't think you will kill yourself, it sounds like you have a healthy respect for her, and while ever you have that she will treat you right.
G'day. I'm surprised the BMW didn't match up. I really like the FJR. My only beef was the bars are too low. I got some risers from MotorcycleLarry I'm going to put on. I got the bike 1st week of August 2009 and rode until 1st week of Dec and put 7k miles on.
Thanks for the bug wishes:->
P.S. You might want to check out a buddy (mate?) of mine in Sydney. He's BrotherBlonde on YouTube. He took a nice ride up to Armidale.from Sydney.
No I was surprised to. I actually wanted the bmw,... until I rode it. Buy the time I got back to the bike shop I looked like a kid who had just found out that Santa Claus isn't real. Not that it was a particually bad bike mind you, it just couldn't hold a candle to my old fjr, let alone the new one, which is even better. I've had mine since May, I have only done 10k though. Oh, about the handle bars, I take it adjusting them didn't help?
I had them adjusted and it helped a little. But, after riding for a couple of hours, my hands start hurting a little because they are supporting most of my weight as opposed to the abs and my back. My riding buddy had a BMW K1200LT he put 110K on. He would still have it but he hit a deer and got totaled. (The KLT is in my "Jazzy Kickin Ride to Avoca" video). He has an R1200R(?) now. He has BMW riding gear. It's sort of like an H-D guy but with a German Touring bike.
Hi. I got mine in Aug. 2008 and had to put it away in December NOT because of the cold but because of the road salt. It's got 8k miles on it. I love the bike! It handles great and has got some serious balls. Even at 640 pounds. In a couple more weeks, I'll be riding again.
You'll love the FJR for it's performance and look. I've had people actually go out of their way to tell me how nice they thought the bike looked. I think a BMW riding buddy of mine likes it as much as his rt1200.
I got 47.9 average the other day on hilly and somewhat twisty roads. I regularly see mid-50 mpg using the instant mpg.
Next time I'm on a parkway or expressway, I'll make a note of the mpg.
Nice machine. The reason Harley riders dont wave is cause their hands are all cramped from weaving tassels and embroidering their jackets.(Joking) Enjoy your new toy, ride safe.
Yes it is. I had to pass someone who was really dragging it on Route14 by Seneca Lake and I twisted the throttle a tad to much. The bike took off a little too fast and I had to lean forward onto the tank. Needless to say, I was by the 53 footer in a flash. But, it was an eye opener.
Nice bike man, your going to love it. I have an 08, no different and I put more miles on it in 4 months than on my old SV1K in a year. It has very manageable power just remember not to instantly "pin" it in a lower gear....it will wheelie quite readily!
The FJR is abuot as far you can get from a Goldwing.
It wieghs less wet than the Burgman 650 and it's not a luxo-barge like the GW. I've seen Suzukis and Yamahas from the 80's and 90's that looked like nice tourers (Cavalcade, Venture) and they were kind of a cross between the FJR and a GW. Wish they still made those bikes.
Also after you've ridden it awhile, could u talk about whether or not ur experiencing significant engine heat causing discomfort to u. They said they had it finally fixed by now - tell us what u think in a motovlog sometime =)
The 'solution' is to put 2 bolts on the left and right side fairing (near your knees) that you open out the fairing about.5 inches. This is supposed to let the heat come of those openings instead of directed down toward the ground. I like the adjustable windshield.
Hi: very beautiful bike, I have a 2011 silver but the black always is my #1 color
enjoy and drive safe.

Nice machine. The reason Harley riders dont wave is cause their hands are all cramped from weaving tassels and embroidering their jackets.(Joking) Enjoy your new toy, ride safe.

Oh that's why they don't wave. I always thought it was because they were looking in their mirrors at themselves and didn't see me.

Thanks dude!
I re-watched your new bike vid and I have to say the same back at you...SWEET! (Wished you shown the Top Box.)
I hope you had good time at DG and didn't get rained on all the time. Also, hoping to see the video.

Nice looking bike. That's power on two wheels.
ejminer123 2 years ago
Yes it is. I had to pass someone who was really dragging it on Route14 by Seneca Lake and I twisted the throttle a tad to much. The bike took off a little too fast and I had to lean forward onto the tank. Needless to say, I was by the 53 footer in a flash. But, it was an eye opener.

Congratulations! That is a nice ride. Be safe on that rocket.
maricopaapt14 2 years ago
Compared to the Burgman it is a rocket which means a long break in period so I can ride safe.

Nice bike man, your going to love it. I have an 08, no different and I put more miles on it in 4 months than on my old SV1K in a year. It has very manageable power just remember not to instantly "pin" it in a lower gear....it will wheelie quite readily!
Nitro375 2 years ago
Hey! Thanks for the tip. I have been very very careful with the throttle in 1st gear.
I love the FJR! It looks great and the amount of power and acceleration is really awesome.
People go out of their way to come over and check the bike out. I guess I would too if I didn't own it.
KeukaRyder 2 years ago
Yes its funny how many peeps oogle it isn't it?

You are one step closer to a GoldWing!!
Woo-ha-ha-ha!!
Sweet rig!!
:-D

Thanks!

Very nice!! :-)

I like to refer to sport tourers as the 'cruise missiles' of motorcycling

Also after you've ridden it awhile, could u talk about whether or not ur experiencing significant engine heat causing discomfort to u. They said they had it finally fixed by now - tell us what u think in a motovlog sometime =)
boobtubeviewr 2 years ago
WIll do.
The 'solution' is to put 2 bolts on the left and right side fairing (near your knees) that you open out the fairing about.5 inches. This is supposed to let the heat come of those openings instead of directed down toward the ground. I like the adjustable windshield.

TRADER!!!! LOL j/k
That does look sweet! Love the hard saddlebags on her. Hope you enjoy her and shoot some vlogs.
Don't worry, you'll be back in a few years riding a Burgy 650 Exec.
Ride Safe my friend.

Yeah she rides real nice too. Got to adjust the handle bars but other than that it's nice. I got it for me and the
wife to go touring in a couple of years. I liked the Burgman ( I went to NY on it and it was fine)
but it was just time to move on. Maybe there is a 650 in my future...who knows.
For your future I predict there is a KR and SR meeting you at Busters and then dragging your butt down to DG. {->
