Strange isn't it? The Americans are normally all for oil. The crave for it, they invade for it and they kill for it. Yet, when some spills right upon their door step, they cry about it. Maybe they should see this as an oppurtunity to 'liberate' some of that black gold and fill their tankers for it. I'd hurry up before those pesky birds steal it all. Get scooping.
@grobo11 ...what's even funnier is most likely you're one of the Brits that has 30% or more of their pension in BP oil.....enjoy working say until 90ish because BP is going to be a penny stock soon.
@Toronto135 That's okay. Because BP is a multi-national company 40% of which is owned by Americans. Enjoy being stabbed in the back by your country men and goverment, LOL! Also you must read. I said 'strange' not 'funny'.
No, there's a legal issue here - if BP allows the workers to wear respirators then they are admitting that there is a toxic danger present and therefore are opening themselves to yet another class of lawsuits.
US Government over-regulation caused this disaster. BP has a 100% safety record. BP is doing an amazing job cleaning up the mess caused by Obama, the liberals and the environmentalists.
I urge everyone to write to your Congressman, recommending BP for the Medal of Honor!
lol I'm not even sure they'll fire anyone. I'm thinkin they pretty much get away with this scott-free, even not needing to pay out much of that fund they have set up.
She was lovely and polite and she didn't get too accusatory. I would have said BP didn't want people to use respirators because it would look bad, but she really navigated that nicely. My opinion: I would like to see the lease contracts for the oil rig. And health and safety should come first because BP may have to pay out millions in a negligence lawsuit later on.
The US Government is 100% responsible for the workers not having the proper safety equipment. Millions of US workers are REQUIRED to wear hard hats and safety shoes, but our government see's nothing wrong with millions of people breathing TOXIC AIR in the gulf. The clean up workers will pay a very hefty price for our governments failures. When it comes to protecting US Citizens, the Obama administration is a major disappointment. Joe Bidon is the only reason I'm not for IMPEACHMENT.
This, to me, is the last straw. These executives need to go to jail.
The explosion maybe you can somehow give them slack, say they didn't mean to do it. But this just takes it over the top. This isn't accidental, this is deliberate.
only a litte over a thousand views. everyone's got environmental catastrophe fatigue. "eh, fuck it, the gulf is ruined for generations. next topic"

I'd bet a pay check that no one at BP is ever charged with a crime.
They'll fire a few, and maybe a few more, and claim they "Cleaned house", and continue making boat loads of cash.

What we're seeing here is the result of a 'small' and ineffectual government, as Palin has promised.
