  • WONDERFUL!

CF rue Saint-Serge ! Amours et frateernité.

  • This is so wonderful

  • As Roman Catholic I can only admire the Russian Orthodox wonderful traditions, and vocal sounds. So devine, truly Holy Russia. I hope our friendship will deepen and that the pope will sacrifice a lot more to establish that deep friendship.

  • This is the sort of music which causes listeners to attend with trembling and reverent fear, attentive to the glory of God.

Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me, a sinner.

  • One of the most beautiful videos!!!... amazing photos, too.

Thanks for sharing this to everybody.

I am catholic, so i can appreciate orthodox russian chants... and so typical churches.

    Greetings from my Peru

  • privet bratskom rossiyskom narodu ot Hrvatov iz katolicheske Horvatie! Nek Bog na vsegda hranit horvatsku domovinu, gordiy hrvatskiy narod i matryoshku Rossiyu i velikiy ruskiy narod! amen

  • fantastic, video...

  • sliczna

  • Beautiful! The music and the pictures are truly inspirational! Thank-you for posting!

  • Is there a CD of this out there anywhere? I would love to get one.

  • Of this particular group... no, I am afraid not. I downloaded the music from a Russian site. However... ("Odnako", as Chuckcha would say... ) if you google "Hilarion Alfeyev", and go to the bishop's website, there are downloadable mp3s of his liturgical music. That may held you.

    Bog blagoslovit!

  • I went to Bishop Hilarion's website, and while the music there is incredible (he is an immensely talented composer), I was unable to find this particular piece--would you mind pointing me to a link to this Great Doxology so I can download it?

  • This particular piece is available on the Blagovest website, which is only in Russian.

    r. b. Vostorgina

  • Can you send a link to the website? I am not fluent, but I know enough Russian to pick out what I'm looking for--I've done this before on other chant sites. Thanks for your help, and I apologize if I sound pushy....

  • I just logged on to the site... it seems to have gone away into the ether... that is, it is gone, apparently for good. Sorry, I did try!

  • @padreq12 Album: Missa Mystica. Track 16 (Greater Doxology). Conductor: Victor Popov. Composer: Apostol Nikolaev-Strumsky.

  • Streit begraben... unsere Kirche ist schließlich eine, heilige, apostolische und katholische Kirche. Sie ist wunderschön weil sie orthodox ist, also Gott auf die Rechte Weise lobpreist.

  • Orthodox chants are all great! I love the slavonic the same as the romanian and our greek chants!

  • Russian Orthodox church music is the most beautiful in Christendom ... I have to say Greek Orthodox chant does nothing for me

  • greek byzantine and syrian are better, are more oriental and psaltical russians use chorals..just like catholics

  • au contraire... we Russians stood tall against the papists in 1612 and 1242 (do remember that they starved Patriarch St Germogen to death!)! The Greeks sold out at Ferrara-Firenze and some of the Syrians sold out to the Uniates for money (although it must be said that the ordinary people did not concur, thankfully).

    Checkmate... next move?

  • i answered you but i saw that it didn;t appear so i will say it again, i was reffering at the musical sound..psaltical and oriental brings more with Christ then corals, i wasn;t reffering to the dark history ,i know that russians saved orthodoxy but i don't like that they turned it to something else..the essence of music lies within syrians and greek orthodox, (even that their leaders did what they did) Many are called ,few are choosed..right?

    God bless you!

  • hmm... the Russian chant has always been different, and harmonisation existed before the Westernisation in the Petrine period. For instance, the Znamenny in the old "square" notation is rather distinct from the New Roman usage (let's not use "Byzantine", that's a Western papist anachronism). That is, the distinctiveness was there from the first. Perhaps, that is because we Russians are the most "northern" and "western" of the Orthodox peoples.

    Nicht wahr?

  • Stunningly beautiful, both the singing and the slides of the houses of worship.

    Thank you!

  • Somehow, this is easier on the ears, more spiritual, than our Greek version. Beautiful.

  • Which church is that at 3:23 ?

  • So beautiful. Instant favorite!

  • Lovely music, singing and photos. Bravo! TY.

  • An enchanting video! TY!

  • Thank you for showing the cathedral in Tallinn, Estonia (2:44-3:09),my old hometown!

  • My!

  • Слава в вышних Богу, и на земли мир, в человецех благоволение. Хвалим Тя, благословим Тя, кланяемтися, славословим Тя, благодарим Тя великия ради славы Твоея.

  • A wonderful video! I have long loved to listen to the Russian chants of the holy Church. I am especially fond of Rachmaninov's Liturgy of St. John Chrysostom.

  • thank you for the video, absolutely amazing.

  • 1:39...that church is gorgeous!!! whats its name?? is it in St.Petersberg?

  • I think it's the one that was built on the site of Alexander II's assasination.. Something like Cathedral on Spilt Blood. I might be wrong. Yes, in St Petersburg.

  • It is, indeed, the Spas na Krovi (Church of the Saviour on the Spilled Blood) in Petersburg, built on the spot of Tsar Aleksandr Nikolaevich's assassination. There are two others. One is in Yekaterinburg at the site of the murder of the Royal Martyrs and the other is in Uglich at the site of the murder of the Tsarevich Dmitri by Tsar Ivan Grozny.

  • I thought it was.

I came to Russian Orthodox music by reading much about The Romanovs, and the claimant Anastasia.

One day I'd like to go and see Tsarskoe Selo and Livadia. Not sure I want to see the site in Ekaterinburg. Site of such unhappiness.

  • 0:46.....Scandinavian influenced log architecture! logs are great, you can build anything with them! cheaper than modern materials.

  • GOD BLESS ALL HIS CHILDREN!

  • so prayerful and beautiful!

  • excellente!

  • ...god bless oll orthodox peoples!!

  • Glory to God!

  • God bless our orthodox kind and great Russia mother of all Slavs!!!

  • Fantastic, just fantastic! Thank you!

  • I love Russian choral church music--thank you!

  • Beautiful and very moving.

  • Thank you for this Angelic Sounds.

Russian Orthodoxy has more happier sounds than the Greek Orthodoxy and that depends on traditions, wars and occupation.

    Greetings from Greece

    Georgios
