@acw71000 Ahh nice to hear from you again Austin, indeed the first shot I favour becasue it has all the elements you need for a Western mainline setting on the whole it was all really good and the weather couldn't of been better
@MrMKH2010 ahh I knew who the fireman was on 5043 but he had shoved some coal since Newbury and climbing up to Savernake so its reasonable to have abit of thick black clag
A fantastic array of clips Ryan, 5043 at her best and performing beautifully. Loved every minute of it. Good idea with the two cameras at Didcot, very handy. Don't think I've ever seen a shot taken from that position at Crofton, she was going so well it's a shame she had to shut off. Favourite shots got to be at Newton St Loe, absolutely bombing it round there! Thumbs up & Fav'd
@letmadnessbegin your very welcome Kristian, it all went well despite a few near misses was nice meeting you all outside Didcot aswell. I have known one person taking a similar shot at Crofton where I was standing but was tricky due to the overgrowth that had to be hacked away
I was stood on the site of Leamingtons old Avenue Station (now a car park) to watch this. The train was checked outside Leamington by the refuse tip to allow a Voyager off the Coventry branch... great wheel-slip sounds as she re-started up the bank out of the dip under the Grand Union! Fantastic loco!
@LeamingtonSteve Correct the Voyager was running a few minutes late so the Castle had to be stopped in order to allow the Voyager to proceed. I wished I filmed that slipping aswell but didn't want to use up so much tape
@Steamclips Hi Alan & Marg Edgcumbe was really gunning for it at Newton but thats how it has sounded at times when it pops out some steam out of the cylinder relief valves
Great video of a great steam loco with a beautiful coach set. Professional filming at brilliant selected locations in combination with the excellent sound recording - it can't be better. Congratulation for this result and thank you for sharing it.
In the first scene for instance, if you listen to the loco comming up to you, that's not sound, that's music - five stars is not enough.
@collieultimo thank you very much collieultimo I did enjoy the day providing that we had such fine weather to go with it. With 5043 being a double chimney Castle in my view and what some would say, she is a proper sounding double chimney steam locomotive around (no offence to others who don't think so)
Excellent video with some really creative shots. We were on the train so it provides us with a lovely visual record of the day. I don't think I have ever travelled so fast behind steam for such a distance as today. A guy in our carriage was tracking the speed on his phone. All I can say is we seemed to spend most of the day at the maximum permitted speed with effortless ease! I think you will know what I mean! What a great loco and crew!
@eddiethefiddler glad to know you enjoyed your run Vintage Trains provide some really excellent itineraries, but when they use Edgcumbe its even better seeing as she is one of the best mainline performers so far. I've witnessed a few of her high speed runnings i.e the non-stop Bristolian run in 2010 which many of us will long remember.
Superb footage here, thankyou! My favourite by a whisker is the fantastic Leamington shot, couldn't be much better could it?! Though the silhouette at the end is a very very close second, made the hair stand up on the back of my neck. Were you the bloke with the binoculars I briefly talked to on the bridge at Didcot, with the two cameras and who knew the Earl's fireman?
@kebl0597 You can get a fine array of shots with beautifull weather like this and Leamington Spa is a favour for me as for the silhouette sequence at Newton St Loe. I was the one with the binoculars and operated the two cameras yes
@robmasterman your right on that one Bob Edgcumbe really does perform well on mainlines as you expect from the great Tyseley gang, I did thought of Mr. Waterman when I was at Leamington but didn't expect him around, he would also admire David's shot of 5043 crossing beside the old Midland Line viaduct nearby
@HughFromAlice We was expecting something good at Leamington the smoke and sound effects really worked well aswell at the lighting too, them passengers you see on the platform I don't think were aware of a steam loco in their midst
shame hes not around the local area alote more..(bristol bath ect) always a great site to see him giving it all!

Fantastic stuff Ryan, every shot superb. The opening scene has to be my favourite though, as you rightly say, timeless.
