  • Wow! Great player. Looks like I just found another guy to follow on you tube.

  • and now, i stop playing the bass.

  • Too bad for the not so good quality.

  • love how he's not using his 2nd finger !

  • @joebassplayer - I know! wasn't sure if anybody else saw that ... geeeeez.

  • WOW McBride Is such a virtuous!

I thought the bass was black the hole vid execpt at last were you can see its red... weird!

    haha

  • Is it just Me, or is He using the pinky on his right hand?!

  • Wow!! stunning!! I didn´t know he could do this on electric. Always a great player!!

  • Yeah Man....How low can you go....a real Bass Virtuoso in action..!!

  • @guitarpicka1 definitely

  • Ah must be Havona! Really nice solo.

  • is that a SX i spy?

  • @parmeseancheese Does he play SX? The bass in this video is definitely a Pensa.. But yeah he might use SX as well.. Great basses!

  • Super electric solo. JR

  • I think thats the first time i've seen someone use only their 1st and 3rd fingers to pluck. To each his own, sounds good!

  • it seems that the bass is punching tha house... is a Fender Deluxe or Sadowsky? McBride is awesome... what a gret musician...

  • Sounds a little "noodly" for me. He's more musical on the upright -- which I believe he has a closer connection to.

  • Ah, the beginning reminded me of old Jaco's growl :) knew it in an instance; Havona by Weather Report

  • Havana

  • @jdbrewst lol! cuba

  • How is this track of jaco called??

  • @mtetmata havona

  • haha yes! he fucking farted! >:0

    great bass playin too

  • did he fart in 1:48 ?

  • That was the cameraman, good catching that ^^

  • And he farted again at the very end.

  • wow good ear catching him fart at the end

  • that riff in havona around 1:18 is tough

  • I've got tickets to see Christian and Inside Straight Nov 18 in St Louis. Absolutly can't wait!

  • havona

  • OMG incredible Bass Solo !

  • it's called "soli"

  • Hey, a Gallien&Krueger RB amp! Lol, I own one of those too :P, I wonder if Chris uses the RB700 or RB1000... Great amps though.

  • I see on his website that he actually uses Epifani. I know Epifanis are really hard to find on the road, but GK's are the standard. Almost every venue on earth has GK rigs.

  • Yeah, I also checked his site, and I couldn´t find the GK, whitch kinda dissapointed me :-P. But I guess you´re right, GK is more a standard on the road.

  • Many people don't understand that upright bass and electric bass are two completly different instraments; n' christian can really play both, well done!

  • you forgot to mention that even a muck-rake would sound in these hands:-)

  • @SlapATACK You are partially right. The fact is you can play anything on a fretless bass guitar that you can on an upright plus things that an upright can't duplicate making the bass guitar more versatile while the stand-up bass has a sound that can't be duplicated on a bass guitar. I wouldn't call them "completely different" however because they are both stringed bass instruments that cover the same range. I would be more inclined to say a tuba or bassoon are completely different.

  • @SlapATACK

I think its technically the same 4 strings, upright is more than bass guitar

  • @SlapATACK

actually the fingering is the same. I can play them both just fine because I've learned the upright bass but yes. He is an amazing performer.

  • @TheSupermonkeypants well actually the fingering its not quite a bit the same cause youre always using a claw with 3 fingers and in the uper register you need your thumb to help you out so its completely diferent now in your right hand you arch your arm diferent and use tons of more flesh form your fingers to play the instrument ahha!

  • @jazzmelodicminor77 I play both man, its exactly the same. The only difference is that you can do a lot more and go a lot faster on a bass guitar. I've been playing for a while now so I think I know what I'm talking about.

  • @TheSupermonkeypants wow youre cocky! I know what im talking about sorry if you dont like my point of view mr im right on everything!

  • @jazzmelodicminor77 oh please. I do know what I'm talking about and if you dot agree with me then u don't gotta reply. yes, I'm stubborn.

  • @SlapATACK super true i bought an upright like 5 months ago and its being a real challenge for me i have been playing electric like for 7 years now and still i thought i was going to be a little bit more easy cause of that but its not haha!

  • @SlapATACK bass solo's.....nooooo just do not sound good..!

  • @pmay222

Thanks for providing us with ample reason to believe that bass solos "just do not sound good..!". Next time you comment, think about why you're even watching the video in the first place if you just plan on bashing it regardless.

  • @Burgerpope but im right tho...aint i

  • @SlapATACK You are absolutely correct! Very different indeed. You must be a bassist too. :-) McBride did start out on electric like so many of us do. I just started playing upright after 27 years of electric. damn, I have a ways to go! He's shredding this fretless and that's not an easy task either! I love this guy!!

  • @SlapATACK 2 different instruments from the same family i am guessing...i am not a musician but a jazz lover..i play some guitar and that s about it...

i always thought the difference between these 2 instruments you mention is in the frets..being that the electric bass has frets...

  • he is amazing on uprigt but he's able to bring a lot to the table when he plays the electric to

  • o cara!!

  • Yep Its a cover of Havona by the sounds of it - from Heavy WEather

  • "Hi, this is Christian McBride and you're watching Bassface TV"

that's English for "I just blew your mind, boy."

  • But does he play without medium finger ?!?!?! Gesus ....

  • Man! I like a guy who can really "PLAY" a bass guitar and not just make everything RUMBLE. I like to hear some tone, some music coming from a bass guitar. This guy is great!

    Very impressive.

  • like him better on upright

  • C McB is a beast.

  • mammamia

  • Jesus Christ, dude.
