@779LR no you didn't have to have involvement with yamaha to buy a R7 OW-02! at first yamaha would only sell them to people who could prove they were signed up for a full season of racing and this would be the bike they would race! but sales didn't go quite to plan as the bikes were said to be unreliable so they decided to sell them to anyone when they couldn't get rid of them! unreliable or not i would give my left bollock for one of these bikes

i had the chance of buying a R7 a couple of years ago. The bike had about 1500 miles on it and never damaged but the owner had it repainted in Haga colours. I think it was about £9000. The new paint job put me off the bike so i bought a MV F4.

i think the most recent i ve seen was in a motorcycle show in europe. it was a 2002 r7 green. and selling price was about 30 000 i think

They only made the R7 one year....1999. Only made 500 of them. They pop up on eBay occasionally, as well as high-end auction/resale sites. Fairly hard to find. Good luck!

@YamahaR1R7 ok thanks for the help. but i swear that the r7 dark green i saw was a 2001 0r 02. it was the same fairings and frame and pretty much same bike than the r1 2001 when they came out with this shark tail light with the tiny little tail light. maybe was a r7 just for the show, but they listed all the extra the bike had and the price for sale. clearly said r7. i even sat on it and took pics. never saw this bike again ever.

Hard to find because they only made 500 of them, and most are in private collections with zero miles. When one does go up for sale, they usually fetch $25,000 or more.

Maybe you saw an R7, but chances are you saw a 99 R6. Paint scheme on the R6 and R7 were almost identical in 99.

R1 has an Attack ram airbox. Makes a sucking sound when the throttle is cracked quickly. Might explain it.

I'm not going to call u dumb or a retard or anything like everybody else in youtube does when people make mistakes or they dont observe. Look at the tail of the bikes, the first closeups is of the r1 the other one is the r7. I would give up my 07 r1 for that R7. Its so damn rare.
