Parents don't have the expertise to know enough about the safety of guns to judge what level of safety the child is under.

and if you really need to shoot anything at the age of 8, go and shoot a less powerfull handgun or better, the smallest gun in the world
and at least shoot with rubber bullets, that won't give you the same impact and injuries, of a hit
