I like how Zeffirelli cast Olivia Hussey to be the mother of Jesus. She was 7 years younger than Robert Powell. That takes away from the realism. In real life, the woman would have been at least 16 years older than her son.

It also means that a person that claims to be saved but doesn't do good works for others, most probably didn't receive any grace at all which reflects in his unchanged nature in the form of not producing good fruits/works. A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit the same way that a person who repented and was saved by grace cannot produce any other fruits (works) than GOOD WORKS/DEEDS because it's a reflection of his/her new nature. The good works is not what saves you but repentance and grace, then good fruits (GOOD WORKS) follow as the natural property of the good tree.

Good works is the trait that defines the new "reborn" creature. A person that repents, accepts Christ's Salvation and begins a new life will do good deeds and works because his/her nature already was changed through Christ.

Jesus told His disciples they must forgive and love their enemies. True. And yes, when New Jerusalem comes from Heaven, there will be no hatred and no enmity among creatures of this world.
The teaching behind forgiving enemies and to love them has a purpose. What purpose? When you love those who hate you, the person that hates notices how different is the treatment he is receiving than the treatment he is giving others.
This creates in his mind and soul a convincing shock of reality that he is doing something wrong and allows him to rethink his actions. Many people have changed their lives drastically from being destructive and transform into a more socially accepted and loved person, thanks to that great teaching of "Love your enemies".
The time of Judgment is exactly that, a time of Judgment. Actions are evaluated by Almighty God and the just sentence will be provided. You confuse the term FORGIVENESS with PUNISHMENT. You present punishment as if it was a factor that nullifies forgiveness. Wrong. Justice is neutral. Justice can't be judged because the sentence passed unto the offender is perfectly balanced to compensate his actions.
What Jesus offers to the offender is a way to erase his crimes and evil actions and start over again in order to go to Judgment with a clean record. Every man has committed sin except the Judge Jesus Christ. Because of that, no man is worthy of Heaven but there's salvation. Jesus called "sinners to repentance" as a requirement for the offender to start all over again a new life in Christ (Matthew 9:13, Mark 2:17, Luke 5:32).
This is why forgiveness goes accompanied with repentance as part of the formula. When the Day of Judgment happens, you will have no excuse because an option was offered to you in this life to repent, to change your life, and to begin a new life in Christ.
There are no contradictions in Bible except the contradiction you have created in your mind of wanting to live a sinful life and then expect God NOT to judge you.
You want forgiveness at the end without ever showing the slightest hint of remorse and repentance. That's your mistake.
Jesus Christ is the Judge. A judge that will compensate people with either Heaven or Hell. Yes, He gets rid of the evil ones that refused to repent and thus, rejected forgiveness while He will allow those who repented and transformed their lives for Christ to enter His heavenly kingdom.
If you can't understand the concept of forgiveness and how it works according to the Bible, then you'll remain confused forever. Try to understand that repentance is required to obtain forgiveness because repentance makes forgiveness genuine. Judgment Day is not a time to forgive but a time to judge. When that event happens, remember that you had your whole life to repent and be forgiven in order to present a clear record before God and be allowed entrance into Heaven.

Thanks so much for putting this segment of this movie up. This scene of Jesus teaching in the Temple is one of the most moving and inspiring parts of the whole movie which I consider to be a masterpiece. I have watched this movie countless times and I will never tire of watching it!

I like how Zeffirelli cast Olivia Hussey to be the mother of Jesus. She was 7 years younger than Robert Powell. That takes away from the realism. In real life, the woman would have been at least 16 years older than her son.

Zefferelli was not making a documentary but rather a movie that heavily referenced Renaissance Christian iconography of which he was apparently an authority upon in Italy.This is especially true of the first hour when you see countless Renaissance-inspired scenes, and for which Hussey suited Zeferrlli's intent perfectly.

The one thing that would make me have faith in jesus and christianlty in general is that jesus has probably asked the hardest thing: forgive your enemies. But in humanity it goes like, kill first, pardon him later. Then nobody would have done anything, e.g. against the nazis, all "good" christian people butchered by them they would forgive them.

Qur'an isn't the last testament. God in the Bible said very clearly not to believe any man or angel even if he came down from Heaven that would bring another Gospel different from the one we received from Yah'shua ha'Mashiach (Galatians 1:8-9).
Muhammad received 620 years later from a supposed angel (really a demon, a jinn & some claim it was a Jesuit sent by the Pope) a false gospel (Qur'an) that is the exact opposite of the New Testament. It contradicts Jesus in everything He said or claimed.

Isaiah the Prophet clearly said that the Messiah is God & Christ's disciples worshiped Him as so; as we Christians do. Yah'shua (Jesus) will not accuse His followers for their worship towards Him because He knows very well that He as Messiah is the physical representation of YHVH. This is compatible with the time Thomas knelt down before Him and worshiped Him after the resurrection calling Him "MY LORD AND MY GOD" and Jesus didn't rebuke him but told Thomas that it's better to believe by faith.

True. I said the archangel Gabriel of Qur'an was really a Jesuit spy when I should have said "BEDOUIN MONK" working for the Pope. It was just a confusion and thanks for the correction.

If men would only sit and talk more about the things they share in common rather than pointing a finger on each one's sins, errors and weaknesses which we ALL have, there would be less violence and more peace. Let's read first this verse,
Ephesians 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
Ephesians 2:9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.
In these verses, it clearly says that Salvation is by grace NOT OF WORKS.
You're promoting the Islamic way of salvation that is dependent on WORKS in order to be saved because there's no Messiah in Islam which is why Muhammad wasn't sure that Islam could save anyone.

James 2:17 Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.
In context with the previous verses that say that WORKS do not save but faith in Christ does, James' verse means that WORKS COME AFTER YOU FIND GRACE.

It means that a Christian that has been saved by grace, because he/she is filled with the Holy Spirit, GOOD WORKS will come as a natural response to the Salvation received through grace. It also means that a person that claims to be saved but doesn't do good works for others, most probably didn't receive any grace at all which reflects in his unchanged nature in the form of not producing good fruits/works. GOOD WORKS comes naturally after Salvation as a common trait of the new "reborn" creature.

Apparently you lack the capacity to understand plain English or follow the context of a dialog. I never claimed that believing ONLY will save you. Even demons recognized Yah'shua's mighty presence according to the Bible & began crying to Him to have mercy on them because they knew Yah'shua's power to send them to the abyss.
Scroll back. I clearly recall telling you that in order to be saved, the person needs to REPENT quoting Yah'shua's words which implies a willingness to change your nature.

What follows repentance is Salvation through Christ attained by God's grace. Once the Salvation is in place, Faith keeps the new nature of the new creature. And then good works follow as the natural trait of the new "reborn" human being.
This explains why this verse was pronounced by the Lord and Master: "A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit." (Matthew 7:18)

A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit the same way that a person who repented and was saved by grace cannot produce any other fruits (works) than GOOD WORKS/DEEDS because it's a reflection of his/her new nature. I'm not wrong in what I'm saying in the least. Everything I'm saying is 100% Biblically accurate.
The good works is not what saves you but repentance and grace, then good fruits (GOOD WORKS) follow as the natural property of the good tree.

MoooHamMad: You don't understand such simple verse. He condemns them exactly for what they do, they are workers of iniquity. They claimed to follow Christ but never did really which is why I said previously that a man who doesn't do good works shows that he didn't receive God's grace at all (scroll back and see for yourself) and the reason for this verse: "Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them."(Matthew 7:20)

Well---why have you STOPPED on verse 9? Why NOT continue on verse 10? Don't cut through the lines:
Verse 10 READS:
"For we are God's WORK-manship, created in Christ Jesus TO DO GOOD WORKS, which God prepared in advance for us to do."
And this clearly reconciles with what James 2:26 says:
Faith WITHOUT works is dead!
That is WHY Jesus said on Mt. 7:21 ff that only those who DOES the will of His Father will be saved not those who CALL Him "lord, lord"!
Is that CLEAR now?

Irendelle, verse 10 reinforces 100% what I just said previously, read and concentrate in the words. Read one word per minute if necessary==> "FOR-WE-ARE-GOD'S-WORKMANSHIP-CREATED-IN-CHRIST-JESUS-TO-DO-GOOD-WORKS"
Once you are a "reborn" creature or "CREATED" in Christ, GOOD WORKS come in as a natural response for the new creature that was already saved by grace through faith. WORKS don't save you, WORKS come later when you have already repented and accepted Yah'shua's offer of Salvation.

Good works is the trait that defines the new "reborn" creature. A person that repents, accepts Christ's Salvation and begins a new life will do good deeds and works because his/her nature already was changed through Christ.
If that person has changed and renounced his previous sinful life, what do you expect this new person to produce, evil deeds? No, the new person produces GOOD WORKS, not with the intention of being saved by them (because he was already saved) but because its the new nature.

The concept of repentance is not my invention or interpretation but a necessary commitment for the remission of sins as Jesus Himself required of us. He was the One who asked humans to repent in order for His forgiveness to have any effect. So, you're really accusing Jesus of being biased.

One question comes to mind:
If Jesus said to Barabas that he must forgive and love his enemies including the romans and Herod until the new jerusalem comes where the lion and the lamb will sit together;
So when the day of judgement comes, isn't Jesus going to send these to eternal punishment? Isn't that a contradiction?
If living by the sword is perishing by the sword. Isn't revelation the same as using finally the sword to get rid of evil and evil doers???

Jesus told His disciples they must forgive and love their enemies. True. And yes, when New Jerusalem comes from Heaven, there will be no hatred and no enmity among creatures of this world.
The teaching behind forgiving enemies and to love them has a purpose. What purpose? When you love those who hate you, the person that hates notices how different is the treatment he is receiving than the treatment he is giving others.

The time of Judgment is exactly that, a time of Judgment. Actions are evaluated by Almighty God and the just sentence will be provided. You confuse the term FORGIVENESS with PUNISHMENT. You present punishment as if it was a factor that nullifies forgiveness. Wrong. Justice is neutral. Justice can't be judged because the sentence passed unto the offender is perfectly balanced to compensate his actions.

What Jesus offers to the offender is a way to erase his crimes and evil actions and start over again in order to go to Judgment with a clean record. Every man has committed sin except the Judge Jesus Christ. Because of that, no man is worthy of Heaven but there's salvation. Jesus called "sinners to repentance" as a requirement for the offender to start all over again a new life in Christ (Matthew 9:13, Mark 2:17, Luke 5:32).

This is why forgiveness goes accompanied with repentance as part of the formula. When the Day of Judgment happens, you will have no excuse because an option was offered to you in this life to repent, to change your life, and to begin a new life in Christ.
There are no contradictions in Bible except the contradiction you have created in your mind of wanting to live a sinful life and then expect God NOT to judge you.

You want forgiveness at the end without ever showing the slightest hint of remorse and repentance. That's your mistake.
Jesus Christ is the Judge. A judge that will compensate people with either Heaven or Hell. Yes, He gets rid of the evil ones that refused to repent and thus, rejected forgiveness while He will allow those who repented and transformed their lives for Christ to enter His heavenly kingdom.

If you can't understand the concept of forgiveness and how it works according to the Bible, then you'll remain confused forever. Try to understand that repentance is required to obtain forgiveness because repentance makes forgiveness genuine. Judgment Day is not a time to forgive but a time to judge. When that event happens, remember that you had your whole life to repent and be forgiven in order to present a clear record before God and be allowed entrance into Heaven.

In the end, Crusades got out of control. After they expelled Muslims, Europeans turned against their own brothers & sisters in a frenzy desire for power but the original cause was a noble one.
In Bible, Christians aren't allowed to kill others to spread Christianity but in contrast, in Qur'an, Muslims are commanded to use force, war, deceit, torture, amputations, decapitations, crucifixion, jyzzia tax & land destruction to establish Islam in the world. This proves that Islam is inherently EVIL.

Thanks so much for putting this segment of this movie up. This scene of Jesus teaching in the Temple is one of the most moving and inspiring parts of the whole movie which I consider to be a masterpiece. I have watched this movie countless times and I will never tire of watching it!

Yes, you are correct. That is what Son of Man means. When Jesus says that, He testifies for his humanity. He accepts that He became a human.
Jesus is also Son of God which reflects a different condition of His nature: His Divinity. He confirmed Peter's argument "Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God" (Matthew 16:16) by answering him: "Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven." (Matthew 16:17)
