thats weird, no bass? i though most string quartets were a violin a viola a cello and a bass? oh well it sound fine with a violin1, violin2, viola and cello.

a viola has a C string and no E string unlike a violin and is usually bigger than a violin (a full size violin is the same size as a small viola) there are also small differences in the bows if they are professional and of course the clefs are different viola-alto violin-treble

@deathnotefan386 Nope, string quartets most often consist of a 1st violin, 2nd violin, viola, and cello. Chamber ensembles include bass but in a quartet it's more important to have the two violin parts (plus a bass would be overpowering).

It's kind of like auditioning for a part in theater. When trying out by doing cold reading, you still introduce yourself by name, age, and what your are going to do (or in this case, done). When you audtion, everyone KNOWS what you're going to do (for the most part, most audtions give you the cold reading, if that is the case) and it becomes QUITE obvious, (seriously, if it's the balcony scene in Romeo and Juliet, it's pretty easy) but still, it just happens ^_^
