  • Add "Home tour" to the list of things that never happened.

  • I bought my copy of paper towns in Dubai.(:

  • cello solo FTW!!!

  • This is awesomeness.... That's Nerdfighting in it's essential meaning

  • I would PWN a fast talking contest!!!

  • Anything you can say, I can say faster, I can say anything faster than you!

  • Whoa whoa whoa, I have many orch dork friends who are Potterheads but not nerdfighters. I NEED THIS SHEET MUSIC SO WE CAN PLAY THIS AND I CAN CONVERT THEM.

  • AWESOME is all i can say about that string quartet!

  • i bet i might win that. the talking fast contest. i can talk insanley fast.

  • I KNEW Paige had to be the violist even before they introduced themselves. Woohoo for nerdfighting violists! ...and a big DFTBA to all Orch Dorks ;)

  • I never played the cello, I rocked the violin as a kid, but I can appreciate a cello having a decent part to the harmony of a song and not just being relegated to the harmony.

  • AHA! Paige Harwood, didn't know she was on a vlogbrothers video so long ago =P

  • This video is 8:02 long. When did the 4 minute long videos come in?

  • @Spontenaity The four minute deadline started way back in, I believe, February 2007. The only exception to the four minute deadline is a nerdfighter montage, photo or otherwise.

  • That was just wow

  • Viola FTW! We always seem to be forgotten. :(

  • Where can I get that sheet music? (I want it badly)

  • Oh My Gosh. This is possibly the best thing I have ever seen.

  • this is pretty freaking awesome

  • Those guys were dynamite!

  • So is this the reason why I can only buy Looking for Alaska at Waterstones and have to get the other ones off of Amazon?

  • this makes me wish i had kept learning the violin....

  • I absolutely need those notes. Stat.

  • "excluding Frezned contest" i love the stipulation xD

  • OH golly, if this song hadn't already been stuck in my head for nigh on a week. Thank you

  • @savethekeytar123 realized that later on ':D

  • that! Is! Awesome!

  • wooo! nerdfighting orch-a-dorks!

  • Is that super awesome or what?!

  • I now wish to arrange this/other songs by hank for the BIG ORCHESTRA!!! That's my hobby. Although I have to say that this arrangement for string quartet is amazing, and I wish I was as talented. But, if Vlogbrothers ever need a resident orchestral arranger...

    *subscribe!*

  • yeah, you pwn john speed talking.

  • That was really awesome! I think I have to take out my violin and learn this song.

  • VIOLA FRENCH THE LLAMA!

  • Comment removed

  • tecnically the seperate video was over 4 minuts so that video shoulda got a punishment

  • Planet Green. Ha. Nerdfighter TV Station.

Ah, awesome String Quartet video. I didn't know that version actually existed outside the world of Fake John Green.

  • thats weird, no bass? i though most string quartets were a violin a viola a cello and a bass? oh well it sound fine with a violin1, violin2, viola and cello.

a viola has a C string and no E string unlike a violin and is usually bigger than a violin (a full size violin is the same size as a small viola) there are also small differences in the bows if they are professional and of course the clefs are different viola-alto violin-treble

  • @deathnotefan386 Nope, string quartets most often consist of a 1st violin, 2nd violin, viola, and cello. Chamber ensembles include bass but in a quartet it's more important to have the two violin parts (plus a bass would be overpowering).

  • YEAH! ORCHESTRA NERDFIGHTERS!

  • @Veeolinxalto I believe we're called Orch Dorks? =D

  • OMG Berry is my Mommas old school! Shes been trying to convince me to apply to it and after seeing this vid I think I might.

  • Yeah, you can now buy Papertowns in the UK. Although I still had to order it from my local Waterstones and they got it in for me in like 2 days free of charge so it's out there, just not in humongous quatities.

I look in libraries for the rest of John Green's books but only Looking For Alaska is there =/

  • @iRufus i had that problem till my library got all of then at once

  • That was amazing! It must have taken quite some time to arrange the song like that...

  • Sooo jokes!

  • True that!

  • that redhead shreds the cello.

  • Whoa! That is seriously jokes.

  • *_* Cellos pwn.

  • woah woah woah is it still not published in the UK??? I was going buy it this weekend!!!

  • is it AWEFUL of me to get INCREDIBLY happy every time I see the opening thingy for these videos because of chin waxing? I laugh EVERY time!

  • What is the difference between a violin and a viola? Please, someone, educate me!

  • a violin(to my knowlege) is higher in pitch and ether bigger or smaller idk withch

  • viola's are smaller and higher...

  • @lilee24 Violas are larger and lower in pitch. The having no E string (which is the violin's highest string) but have a C string (which is a fifth below the violin's lowest string, G).

  • yes, the viola has a different tuning and is lower in pitch. It has a larger body, and sounds sort of like a mix between the cello and the violin. It's played like a violin, as you can see.

  • Yes, a viola is tuned differently and is lower in pitch than a violin. It also has a smaller body. It sounds sort of like a happy medium between the cello and the violin, and is played much like the violin, as you can see.

  • @GIANTclaaam Violas are larger and lower in pitch than violins. They have no E string (which is the violin's highest string) but have a C string (which is a fifth below the violin's lowest string, G).

  • viola pwns.

  • I've seen this video so many times, and am just realizing how awesome this cover is.

  • Amongst all your intellectual aptitude, I suggest you introduce a catalyst; in this case, approximately twelve fluid ounces of Dexmethorphan Hydrobromide, enhanced with an inconsequential amount of Guafinesin, both diluted and prepared in an adoringly small plastic bottle labeled DM. Proceed to mix this with approximately six alcoholic beverages, find a pen, a notebook, and see exactly what magic happens. You may invent the equation of physics required to bend space. For light speed. =)

  • That was beautiful! Accio Deathly Hallows sounds great in a string quartet!

  • Oh god.. I told my husband to go buy it had this huge fight bout the book store not selling it I said what lame town are you trying to make me move to that doesnt sell paper town.. Kettering england UK so um .. no where in the uk has it??

  • OMG I want the sheet music for that :)

  • Also, if that happens, does anyone know how to transcribe? I know piano to brass, but I don't know string to piano or string to brass... >_>

BUT oh my gosh, BEAUTIFUL job!

  • Use your ears; they tend to reverberate the vibrations quite well; honestly, if you can't transcribe sound unto another sound-creating device, then put away the instrument, you'll never achieve anything but imitation.

  • The string quartet arrangement is awesome!! I'm not sure I could dislike any song arranged for string quartet.

  • they are SO talented! really great. so's hank;)

  • I live right near Berry College! That is amazing. I must find them!

  • Oh my god, I know those people!!! (Well, I have never been introduced but..) I used to go to Berry College!

Wow, it is like my world of Nerdfighting and my real life have collided.

  • some people don't know what a cello looks like. i'm glad they educated those who don't.

  • It's kind of like auditioning for a part in theater. When trying out by doing cold reading, you still introduce yourself by name, age, and what your are going to do (or in this case, done). When you audtion, everyone KNOWS what you're going to do (for the most part, most audtions give you the cold reading, if that is the case) and it becomes QUITE obvious, (seriously, if it's the balcony scene in Romeo and Juliet, it's pretty easy) but still, it just happens ^_^

  • violaaaas<3

  • ...the cellist is beautiful, too.

    i love this arrangement, ahahaaa.

    kudos to the nerdfighting quartet!

  • Comment 331:

    Those girls were really good.

Must of taken them ages to figure out the music and practice it.

  • YES cello rockssss

  • that is fucking amazing!

and aww, the viola. my friend's mom plays it professionally!

  • chill, i'm a cellist too! I was only kidding, cellists vary greatly, but we are always undeniably the cool ones of the orchestra.

  • *sigh* I wish I could download this version of accio deathly hallows. It rocks..and it makes me very happy.

  • You can...if you to the...Book 8 video there's a link in the side bar. Which has most of the songs.

i swear, that's like, rivaling the party blower solo in awesomeness!

  • I thought you were going to say 'old girlfriend' when you said you were back with your old camera.

I think that would have been a better sentence to use.

  • The string quartet was great.

  • I loooove that string quartet!

    They are seriously cool.

  • Awesome..how did they make the song into that? Like..how did they make the sheet music?

  • hank most definitely tooks faster than john. sorry...

  • Dear mr. Hank, you are going to be an awesome old-guy (:

  • I finished reading Paper Towns today, and it was amazing! I love John!! But do you have any answer to this following question: Why was an advanced reader's copy in my school library? And how lucky was I to find it?! DFTBA!

  • All hail, Nerdfightaria,

  • ok not that i recommend vigilanty justice. Theres a guy called SkullDrill jsut going through all vlogbrothers videos n writing realy mean comments. "People you aren't labeled nerds because you are smart no you are labeled that because you are ANNOYING you need to be beaten until close to death "

I think he deserves a talking to nerdfighter style? anyone with me?

Yea you probably are the fastest talker I've seen, of course except for those terms and conditions voice for an ad

  • Wow. Period.

    (That was beautiful.)

  • Pretty damn awesome.

  • That string quartet is made of awesome.

I just love strings; they sound so cool.

I especially love how they did the refrain.

Hank, you're pretty brilliant for thinking of that UK publishing idea. It's amazing what people can do when there are a lot of them.

  • the quartet rocks this video.

i´m looky and i play the violin. lol

  • To email about the paper towns in the UK thing, do I have to write my address in the e-mail, or just the area i live in?

Also, I wish I knew how to play that well! In fact, I wish I knew how to play a string instrument except guitar at all...

    (:

  • I just put the 'city, UK' for the address part.

    Guitars rock hardest!

  • insert profound analogy comparing 1977 punk rock to 2008 string quartet versions of hank green compositions here.

  • *applaudes the string quartet version of Accio Deathly Hallows* (I especially loved the cello part)

*emails the publish Paper Towns link* (failing it being published in the UK though, I can just import it via Amazon though)

Good to have you vlogging again, Hank!

  • By Opera do you Oprah? Cause if so that would totally rock. Cause i dont think opera, the performance art, is all that hard to pwn. But Oprah would be a great feat, so im gonna go check out that list there.

  • 1) Yes, Hank definitely talks faster than John.

    2) YES I want to see the new house if you get it, that would be awesome!!

    3) That quartet is pretty darn cool. I want to know who wrote the adaptation...

  • Has anyone else noticed that John and Hank have now overtaken Opera in the Most Subscribed list ('pwned Opera')?

Correct me if I am wrong but wasn't it said we Nerdfighters could set any challange we saw fit?

Reply to my comment if you have any thoughts or more information upon this.

  • Amazing :D

and Hank pwns John in fast-talking skills.

  • Wow they did an amazing job with that song!!! Kudos!

  • freakin sweet!!!!

  • STRING QUARET FTW!!! the only thing that would make this more awesome would be if a opera singer apears and sang it. Or a Full Orchestra.

They're REALLY REALLY good. I wish the ppl at our school were this good.

  • Hahahah I COMPLETELY Agree with you on everything you just said. :D

  • or... a Chorus *___* that'd be awesome too!

I wish i was THERE when this happened! I'd cheer and do the nerdfigter sign!

  • lawl... your poor old camera... ^___^

  • Oh, Hank! My friend, really. What they are playing is really easy. I like you anyway though. I loved the cellist though. NICE! JAZZY!

  • Hank is definitely a faster talker than John.

  • Hank vs Michael Buckley

  • whoa, those are some TOTAL made of awesome Nerdfighters! They emanate awesome.

  • ...excluding frezned.

    HAHAHA!

I definitely think you, Hank, could beat at least 95% of Youtube at a who-can-talk-faster contest. And you'd probably win the who-can-talk-faster Youtube Celeb version...excluding frezned.

    xD

  • the one on the cello was a cutie

  • this was AWESOME

  • What a cool string quartet! If only I could play like that. Lolz
