I got the $1000 for YouTube, its not cash its a code number to use only to get goods from B&H. When I got an email from YT support telling me of the gift I thought it was spam to get my login etc so called my contact at YT Europe HQ who confirmed it was for real. There are YT partners with more views and subs than me who did not get this, at a guess I think its the top 500 individual earners who got this gift, by that I mean NBC, CNN etc did not get it.

The Christmas bonus was deserved. I work in TV, and have about 5 - 6 shows on any given week. Mostly reality trash. I got nothing from my big time Hollywood employers. No work thru holidays, unpaid, and no bonus. At least my Youtube spiked after Xmas because of all the new devices. Im gonna respond you with my video entry into the Googletv contest.

I have to disagree with you man. Like you said, its like a Christmas bonus for their top earners. At a job where bonuses are based on sales, they don't give out a bonus to the top 5 and then have a contest for the other 5 bonuses(assuming their giving out 10 bonuses). I mean we are talking about 500,000 bucks, they are going to give it to the people than can make them to the most money.

personally I think they should have looked at it like everyone is created equal all partners get some sort of "bonus" kinda of like the old saying if you didnt bring enough gum for the whole class you don't get to have gum either. I agree with both opinions, because the top youtubers don't always need that extra cash for equipment, because they either already have what they need, or already have a fairly decent income to take care of everything they need. But they do deserve it because they are doing such a great job.

I'd also like to see that "video contest." Where people who don't have the biggest income, can have a chance at getting a taste of that "christmas bonus" thanks to YouTube. Hmm. This gets you thinking...
