  • great to be able to listen to them singing, x

  • please bring back some more of this type that you're singing aimee.

  • Great song, all versions I've heard seem to be well done, this included. Hats off to the Drifters [Ben E King] the group who first recorded this.

  • @hankedful I would like to correct myself, the lead singer on Drifters Please Stay was Rudy Lewis.

  • I love this song, simple but beautiful. I hope music evolves back to this.

  • Duffy+AMy winehouse+ Adele have very similar beautiful tones! I wish amy was still alive and i would love to hear them do a collab :D

  • I cry every time I hear this version. The Cryin' Shames version was produced by Joe Meek, It was his last piece before his death.

The play this version in the credits of Telstar: The Joe Meek story.

  • must say i like westlife's version better but it's still good

  • about time this

    crying shames single got recognition

  • the original song is better

  • @IxXSentinelaXxI the drifters song was tighter. more background help and studio control. duffy has that quality that just makes you listen. she handles the old songs so well, i wish she would cut an cd of just old 60's songs. i would buy that in a minute.

  • Te iubesc Mihaela:*

  • Danga I'm sooooo late on this song lol

  • Good song

  • No matter the version the words are still the same.

  • i have to say i dont like this version the drifters, classic however i am a massive westlife fan and personaly i think they nailed it, duffy no way :(

  • @burtonlvzwestlife I totally agree!

  • It is incredible, I love her voice and her way of singing. Can't get enough:)

  • Damn she's good.... I know because this shit takes me back, way back. Meanwhile, I'm only 27 (weird right).

  • the original version by the drifters is the definitive version.

  • @stevendelo the original was by the crying shames !so superior

  • @andyboss22 Yo dude! whatever re: which version is the best. a matter of personal preference. But the original version is by the Drifters. It was recorded in 1961 and was a top 20 hit in the US in the same year. The Cryin' Shames version is a 1966 cover version of the Drifters original.

  • This is very nice!! thx 4 posting.....

  • great version of a truly classic song - the lyrics are amazing , sad but beautiful

  • too slow does not compliment the original singer she is really killing this song i love this song and she just ruin it for me

  • agh.. the lyrics are SO true. (even down to the brown eyes) and sad. and sweet.

  • Great Cover

  • nice... very very nice

  • Great version by Duffy.I thought only the "Crying Shames" could do this one with great effect.

  • Nice, but the Cryin' Shames version beats it hands down

  • also sung by the Cryin' Shames back in March 1966. My Uncle was the drummer on the single.

  • @kopiteian wow that's cool :o does he still play?

  • weeeee!! great song... good vocal..

  • Very beautifully sung, the original was by Ben E.King & The Drifters, around 1960 I believe.

Duffy has made a lyrical change here and there and in the Bridge.

  • Very beautifully sung, original by The Drifters, Please Stay, I believe around 1960 with Ben E. King vocals, also sung by Aaron Neville

  • I hear it for the first time and it's great! Beautiful!

  • one of the best song written ever.. beautifully sung :)
