I KNOW THE MAN WELL. HE NORMALLY WEARS A VERY LITE PAIR OF SHOES WITH A VERY SOFT SOLE SO WHEN HE RESTS HIS FEET ON THE BRAKES HE CONSTANTLY FEELS THE PEDAL AND DOESN'T FORGET THAT HIS FEET ARE ON THE BRAKES.WELL THAT DAY HE FORGOT HIS SHOES AND HAD ON HEAVY HARD SOLE SHOE AND WHEN HE LANDED HE SIMPLY FORGOT TO TAKE HIS FOOT OFF THE BRAKES BECAUSE HE COULD NOT FEEL THE PEDALS.THEY WERE IN FORMATION THE WIND CROSSED UP AND WHEN HE LANDED OVER HE WENT.THE PLANE LOOKS LIKE NEW NOW.HE IS A GOOD MAN.
My father did this to his Waco. He was a good pilot, but came in a little deep onto a runway and had to hit the brakes hard and over he went. He was so embarrassed!
You can clearly see the tires smoke the moment that the plane touches down. AC could not have taken off w/ the parking brake on. So, either mech malf like brakes siezed or the pilot stood on the brakes at the moment of touchdown. The latter seems unlikely.
I haven't heard that it was the pilot's error or if the brakes locked up, or if there was some other malfunction. If he admitted to it already I'd say that's a bit thoughtless considering all the potential ramifications.
Yes, I did not hear the pilot admit he applied too much brake. It looked like it to me, but you can't say for sure just from watching the video. You are correct; it could have been a mechanical malfunction.
That's that a crash... that's a perfect 4 point landing. ;op ;o)

@1z2x3c4vb Tire smoke from the moment of touch down while you can see slight rudder movement.Your supposition seems most likely.
