  • awesome video.. I'm Italian but you are very clear..... thnx my friend

    ;)

  • Nice video, very helpful and straightforward. Thanks!

  • Than ks for showing this! The only thing Im wondering is this, if you back it down all the way and still get a reading above 0 is the pot bad?

  • Thanks so much! Just what I needed.

  • Dude I have a question.I have a Fender P-Bass with Active 3 Band Preamp.I get alot of mud.Its got a Double Jazz at the bridge which isnt mid focused. I checked the pots & they are all 100k pots. The bass has Passive pickups.

Should the Pots be 100k ? If i change the value of the eq pots could it improve the sound ? Also when blend is in the middle it sounds as if it sucks whatever mids are present. The blend also has a Scratchy thing going on.I can feel it when i turn it .HELP !!

  • Thanks for the upload - I can now find out what pots are in my 1991 Gibson Explorer (Gibson say they don't know as they used both 300s and 500s that year!)

  • So when you turn the pot all the way clockwise there would be zero resistence right?

  • Thank you for the video - you just helped me out a lot!

  • @wcstevens360

Your welcome, glad you found this video helpful.

  • Thanks a lot for the video but I don't understand why my 500k pots measure 522k (B volume) and 449k ( A tone), just like your 500k CTS pot measures 537k. Does this mean they are broken or not working correctly?

  • @Nicolauru - Pots will vary what they actually read just like many other electrical components. They are made to certain tolerances like 10% or 20% so a 500K pot can range from 450K-550K the one I show in the video is actually a 10% CTS500K and they are actually built to 550K specs so that is why it reads around 536K With humbuckers you actually want your volume pots to read over 500K that way you get more clarity and less muddiness. I meter all my pots before I use them in my wiring harnesses.
