  • @ish1578 oh haha wow I'm stupid I mean South America.

  • at 0:40 a plane takes leaves the coast of south africa and flies into the middle of the pacific then turns around at 0:56 and heads back to South Africa. What the fuck could've happened on that plane to make it turn around?!?!?

  • They come out only at day! ONLY NIGHT TIME IS SAFE! RUN FOR THE SHADOWS MY BROTHERS!

  • Now you can understand that if you mix the plane fuel up with chemicals you can do some serious chemtrailing aka weather control.

  • @YouriCarma lol

  • Europe !

  • Thats normal over the ocean all aircraft lose radar contact with who ever is tracking them because to the curvature of the earth

  • its like millions of ants INVADING THE WORLD :( WERE ALL DOOMED FROM ANTS

  • wow. thats amazing!

all of those planes in just 24 hours...no wonder we have global warming :P

  • @Poolboi88 Plenty of aircraft flew over the bermuda triangle.

  • How wonderful!

  • HOLLAND!!

  • Watch europe 0:08 onwards

  • Way too much time on their hands...

  • yeah ZHAW :D

  • How Daylight to dawn changes the traffic... interesting

  • From an e-mail I received explaining this video:

A 24 hour observation of all of the large aircraft flights in the world, recorded by plane flight transponders, via Geo-stationary orbital satellite.

You will see the aircraft flow of traffic leaving the North American continent and travelling at night to arrive in the UK in the morning. Then you will see the flow changing, leaving the UK in the morning and flying to the American continent in daylight...

  • How do I send you email?

  • Is this available in mpeg?

  • @pshepson Send me email, I have it.

  • woow this is amazing.

I cannot imagine that i am sitting in my house in madrid at exactly 00:13 and that so many thousands of planes are flying right now!!

  • Who dares down vote this?!

  • wheres NEW ZEALAND

  • @plinter1 its disappears at night time :D but its in the bottom right corner

  • @Poolboi88 LMAO ... you are funny.

  • @Poolboi88 LMAO ... you are funny.

  • It is oddly soothing and hypnotic to watch all these fireflies.

  • Cool how all the traffic flows from the US to Europe in the morning and comes back to the US at night.

  • It's looks like a beehive to me :-) , Airplane though is still the safest means of transportation.. Hey, Poolboi88 AWESOME comment..

  • The sunlight looks like a sine or cosine graph. I forget which one it is. Math ftw.

  • i wish i could see one with the new ash =D

  • I was shown this video today in class- ( GPS as one of the form of data acquisition in GIS). I found it beyond fascinating, specially after learning a bit about what it took to get it done. This is a clear picture of the state of the world's economy.

  • @ed22781 So can you please tell us what it took to get it done?

  • @ed22781 I actually thought about showing this video in some class. I am a researcher doing PhD and sometimes give some special lectures to students. And here you mentioned it was shown in your class. So am curious to know what it took to get this video done. At first I thought they collected all the flights data on a particular day and put it in some simulator. But I think there is a lot to be done in this.

  • you should see the land traffic of the world!

  • @fuckingdouche LOL... that would be just atoms in chaotic order!

  • @fuckingdouche LOL... that would be just atoms in chaotic order!

  • holy fuck.... it looks like swarm of fucking fireants.

  • a detail : this map is made from airport's flight control data and/or airlines flights shedule. So i believe it only includes airliners flying IFR on sheduled flights. Excluding all military flights, private planes, flight schools, business aircrafts, and so on !

  • @Poolboi88 bobo tan bobo

  • Air Travel in 24 hours

  • scary!!!

  • You would not believe your eyes If ten million fireflies Lit up the world as I fell asleep 'Cause they'd fill the open air And leave teardrops everywhere You'd think me rude But I would just stand and stare I'd like to make myself believe That planet Earth turns slowly It's hard to say that I'd rather stay Awake when I'm asleep 'Cause everything is never as it seems
  • @wildcatqt Astoundingly appropriate!

  • hmm, and I'm worried how much my car is polluting the world, oh my!

  • fun

  • look..you can see american planes dropping bombs to iraq

  • You mean "near misses" :p

  • Holy shit look @ the U.S. at the end. Im surprised theres never any head on collisions!

  • Nope.

What you see is Americans enjoying the Eastern Hemisphere because Latin America sucks.

  • lol jealous?

  • stumbled upon from maine

  • In the U.S. from 0:26 - 0:46 you can see the 3-hour time difference in the waking hours as the activity spreads towards the west. I have no other insight to offer.

  • Hi I am Superman...I am not woking in EU or US anymore!!!!!!!!

  • uhh i didnt know cuba had airports? lmao

and who would want to be flying there? crazy asses.

and i dont know what you people are talking about it seems that there is more american flights being taken then chinese, you guys bust be crazy asses too

  • @rudead4 you have to be fucking joking man!!!

uhh i didnt know cuba had airports? fucking stupid....

  • wow awesome

i like watching the little obscure ones at the bottom in the middle of nowhere

  • Comment removed

  • Brazil gets more than 2/3 the flights from south america

  • woa Just see Germany!!!

  • One would think there would be more activity in China

  • @TheDannywoo

Guess why China is the growing market of the future ;)

  • And why would you think that? Most Chinese are dirt poor. There is plenty of activity, however - the Chinese are mostly giving one another rickshaw rides.

  • A good depiction of where economic activety is located!!! Love the armada of planes going to and from US and EU.

  • You are probably right!

  • Comment removed

  • One way of seeing that video: "Swarms of kerozen powered moskitos that live off sucking from the earth's resources"

  • shut up cars dont even use kerosine so dont behatefull to air craft because cars are worse

  • what's kinda fun is to imagine yourself on one of those planes from whatever city you live in going to some cool destination or replay an actual trip you took.... my plane's going to Reykjavik or Nice lol

  • So you wanna be an air traffic controller.

  • how can people put a thumbs down? USA is not the only country in the world, and it is not America.

  • Of course it isnt :)

But we all know when we say America it refers mostly to the US.

hate it or love it, it is the truth. i mean just look at the United States, its ALL yellow lmao!

  • GILIPOLLAS!!! Search de meaning...

  • Well said :P

  • who cares?

  • ROFL

    MY

    WAFFLE

  • not sure how true this is, i can never catch a flight after 11p in the US..ever

  • U.S.A. and Europe

  • well the US is two times the size of europe......every city in the US has an airport

  • What?

Are you telling me that the U.S is twice the size of Germany, France, Italy, England, Belgium, etc etc etc?

    Errrr yeah, right.

  • he might mean in a different way - more cities with airports?

if not, i dont know what hes on about

  • but it is ^^ im german, not american and not against you or anything but its true

  • U.S total area, according to Wikipedia: 9,826,630 km2

Europe total area, according to Wikipedia: 10,180,000 km2

As you can see, it would have been pretty accurate to say that the U.S. are almost the size of Europe, but "two times the size of Europe"? Definitely not.

  • thats including Alaska Hawaii and America's other territories

  • @deafdani it's confusion : european union and europe. Geographic europe (without greenland) is about the size of the US (with alaska). but the European Union (27 nations) is about half the size of the US

  • Si tu lo dices gilipollas... en el agujero de tu culo si que hay un gran aeropuerto...

  • @detroitmetro101

and ? you are happy?..your nation kill our planet?..arey really happy?

  • NICE we're being showered in unspent fuel and plane exhaust... I feel it can you feel it?

  • can you feel the paranoia :) ?

  • Thats crazy

  • EKO :D Nice :-) 5/5

  • WOW!

    Look at the Atlantic Ocean!

So many flights go from USA to Europe in the mornings, then back the other way in the evenings!

  • cool

  • wow :P americans are LAZY :P flying everywhere xD

  • Comment removed

  • Let me guess Sebbastar, your spunky butt jogs cross country??

  • uhm... I see more traffic in Europe, It's completely yellow during the whole video...

  • not true. its daytime effect. during daytime its much more intense.

  • Actually, during the night there is little traffic there. Only fills up at around 15secs and is starting to empty as the video finishes.

  • @Sebbastar Well theres that conclusion, or the one where you take into account the millions traveling to and from Europe to America every day. Look at Europe during the day. Are they lazy too?

  • @Sebbastar We have no choice, our country is too huge to drive/take a train. Trust, I hate flying all the time!

  • So that's why they don't declassify technologies that could this planet.

They make money, and earth gets destroyed.

  • ...TOAFN: Your right.

  • Looks like Earths got a bad case of the humans...must be very itchy i guess.

Hope it likes being itchy,or we are all screwed.

  • How much oil burn in the sky, daily, scary...

  • That's exactly what I was thinking, between all the cars in the world, coal burning, and planes, I guess we really do burn a staggering amount of fuels as a species. I mean, we all know this, but to see a portion of it demonstrated is flat out jaw dropping.

  • Look how the U.S. is lit up completely. Amazing looking!

  • Estou IMPRESSIONADA!!!!

  • Coisa do demo! o.O

  • wow!!

  • It would be cool a car traffic one!

  • I just ripped my penis watching this

  • wow thats so cool

  • what is the name of the page that i can see that

  • not surprised global warming applies here and no wonder solar light gets dimmer and dimmer with all these fumes..10% in 50y.

fucking trippy, cool, incredible... but certainly scary

do we really think we'll last very long with 93000 planes flying every 24 hours!

we'd better find a good way of flying clean or injecting huge doses of oxygen in the air, b4 acidity of the sea kills all life in it, and by consequences, ends the absorption of carbon dioxide that man kind shits every where; good day!

  • I had to laugh at that comment. 2% of CO2 comes from aviation. 2. Yet from factories in industries, they contribute 40%. Go whinge to them.

  • i think we can whinge to ourselves in just about everything in our lifestyle if we want human to go on with living in here...

    it's true, time's up!

  • dude if they showed factory activity over 24 hours there would not be a part of the land on this map that wasn't yellow, not even mentioning cars and motor vehicles. airplanes are cleaner than almost anything out there, so you can watch this video in peace

  • and there's the huge problem that humans put out an entire 4% of the co2 entering the atmosphere! we're TOTALLY going to screw the planet over with our MASSIVE production of co2.

  • Actually only about 2-3% by some counts, still more than enough additionally to tip relatively sensitive scales over a long period of time (say, a few hundred years).

    Good thinking though ;)

  • "still more than enough additionally to tip relatively sensitive scales over a long period of time"

    I call bullshit!

    DENY IGNORANCE

  • there is no "g" in the word "whine". Why dont you idiots go "whinge" at the school systems which failed you so completely?

  • There is a "g" in the word "whinge", though. Look, there it is, between the "n" and the "e". Do you see it, there? Now, go away, and do some cursory research into dialects. Separated by a common language, eh?

  • english fail.

  • you idiot

  • I have no idea

  • amazing, the way the moons shadow sweeps across the earth

  • What? That isn't the moon.

  • Add music!!!

  • yep

  • in the begginning Europe gets really thick, then it stays thick as America gets thicker and East Asia. Then Europe and East Asia gets less thick as Aemrica continues to get thicker and thicker. Then the thickness sticks to America as the traffic is very less thick over east Asia.

    Wonder why?

  • Eh... because it changes from day to night. There are fewer flights at night.

  • See - America is thick.

  • is there any way to get a high quality video of this? where is the main website?

  • Wow, didnt know there were that many planes around the world

  • Man, it's like ants that are crawling over the world! But you can see that Europe is like the hub for the entire world. Very interesting.

  • poor central africa ;(

  • win! :D

  • plans man there is too many!

  • that brought the funs it was funs i had some funs now i got the runs

    :)

  • i think this is too exaggerating...the current air traffic situation is not as busy as this one.

  • It might not be, it probably the size the yellow dots that are exaggerated for illustrative purposes that would have to be, but realistically you want be able to see them they would be so small, but at the size they are now each plan would be the size of a small city. LoL

  • P-L-A-N-E. Jesus.
