I don't think people get, Robin didnt just go insane in Haunted, it was Slade. Slade had the powers Trigon had given him by then, and either was simply using them to his amusement before the prophecy began, or was giving a fair warning to the Titans he was back, and better than ever.

At the time it seemed to just be dust because the box had sat for a long time. That particular episode had nothing to do with Trigon.
