I've got an easier way. Get a high powered drill with a flat wood grinding tip, a soldering iron, and a bottle of over-proof rum. Ultra realistic deep flesh wound.

wouldnt useing the Liquid latex and tissue be faster and still give the same effect after being cut away then you add the muscle tissue effect. I know the wax looks the same as the liquid latex if your good you can layer the latex and have it look the same and take less time.

I believe they sell different shades of wax. If you can't find any, I know that Mehron makes an excellent line of foundations with which you could hide the lighter color of the wax.

For the record, I went to Tom Savini's SPFX Makeup school. I like the way it looked around 4:12 / 4:13. Great dimension, detail and depth. I would have left it looking like that, done full facial makeup to give the dead, sunken look, then gone on to do the makeup surrounding the wound itself, which I also liked. Darkenening the actual wound so much takes away a great deal of the depth, and therefore negates much of the time and effort put into it. But, to each his own.

But fresh wound looks different as an old wound. That´s why I darkening the wound and take fake blood.

@NuggetBlubber - i just saw savini at my school - he came and gave a Q&A, he said that they do alot of work for people that the students actually get paid for that also helps create connections and relationships with potential employers... he said that some of his students start working for people and companies before they even graduate. i think he said it was like a 60% rate of students getting work directly out of school. thats pretty good if you ask me. - try to see a Q&A w/ him! its great!
