And I do have to admit this was a long time ago. I think No rain was around 2 years before getting discovered. I know that after that Ozzy show when they opened up for them they were still undiscovered and I spent close to a year trying to get people to listen to them (Blind Melon). But nobody would till No Rain hit the radio waves. Then psychologicaly I got tired of them because they got trendy LOL. Then I got over it and started liking them again. Shannon Hoon, a truly unique voice. So sad.

There's a handful of 90s bands that were truly unique that didn't blend in with the rest of the 90s alternative scene. Primus, Ned's Atomic Dustbin, Dinosaur Jr., Mercury Rev, Janes Addiction, Jellyfish, Smashing Pumpkins, Blind Melon, Nirvana (in my own opinion of course) Only 1 Blind Melon song got super trendy. But the band and "No Rain" was around 2 years before producers discovered it. I saw them with Ozzy and Alice in Chains in 92. Pearl Jam was honestly just rock music, not alternative.

@fbk738 Freakin Google must have taken this video down that used to be up, but no more. They were all in a room covered in different neon colors. Neon paint splattered all over the walls. It might have been a song off this album or the previous one. There were 2 versions of the video. The one I described which was a promo video for the album. And then another one of the same song that they released for MTV. It used to be on YouTube but now it's not anywhere.

I don't place Neds in the Grunge Scene. I place them in the Alternative scene. They were truly alternative. They did not always wear brown or black. They didn't try to sound like Pearl Jam, Sound Garden, Stone Temple Pilots, or some other trendy band.. they had their own unique sound and style. They even had REAL COLOR in their video HAPPY. You could tell they had fun and did not care about the rock scene or following a fad by watching TRUST.

@MrAacum Same in the US. Just after 1995-96 stuff just started to degrade in the music and movie world. It got TOO GRUNGE over here. Things were all brown, no color, no life, no originality, everybody was doing the exact same thing. Brown pukey colors covered everything symbolically. At the time I did not recognize it, but looking back it's very clear. About 2004 I started walking around the clothing stores here and noticed that it looked like a sea of dirt and muck. Same goes for music.

I loved the entire UK indie music scene in the early 1990s. Every new band, even the crapper ones, seemed exciting. Then Britpop turned everything dismal. Damn you Blur and Oasis and, er, Menswear.

Neds was a great band, but I don't think they have a legacy because they didn't inspire bands to follow their stylistic lead. They were good, but not influential, and thats usually why certain cult status bands live on forever ie Pixies, or Dead Kennedys.

I don't think they were overrated. In the early 90s they tapped into a British energy that Americans at least hadn't really seen. I miss the hair tossing, jumping, heavy guitar strumming, psycho-analytical lyrics of that "Kill Your Television" era. Saw them in Sacramento in 1995 at a small club called the El Dorado Saloon. Their goodbye comment was "Thanks for remembering us." I guess they're one of my guilty pleasures now, like Jesus Jones and Blur.
