For $1,800 I'd rather spend $1,200 on a PC that will kick its ass all over the place and an ASUS EEE with the extra $400 and have a computer that fits in my pocket.
well if you travel alot then i would choose the macbook air its just lighter and better to travel with. if you stay home alot and dont travel that much and have alot of files i would get the macbook pro. its all up to you either way you go youll be happy cause you got a mac!
I would buy an pro if that's the only computer you have. if you have a desktop at home to store your main files like photos and videos, I would buy an Air as a little extension computer to bring to the coffee shop or the library.
