I am not American but my girlfriend is and when we visited I noticed that a consumer system like in the states of low wages and a (relative to the rest of the western world) low cost of living is very sensitive to rising consumer costs which would happen if you started competing with overseas manufacturing. Opposite to what is happening in my country, a skyrocketing dollar and no one wants to trade.

@09SSEXTON Sorry but that simply won't work. The fact is average wages in the USA are really low. I am not American but my girlfriend is and when we visited I noticed that a consumer system like in the states of low wages and a (relative to the rest of the western world) low cost of living is very sensitive to rising consumer costs which would happen if you started competing with overseas manufacturing. Opposite to what is happening in my country, a skyrocketing dollar and no one wants to trade.
