  • What the shit is this??? a robot? wow they really screwed this one up at .. i hate to say this but at least Joel Schumacher kept it real with his look

  • @mrpuff yeah i think mr freeze in the video game is 10x better

  • How about we describe how the character is and how sad his life is! Rather than telling how much you hate the design, seriously TNBA has one season and 24 episode and BTA has two season and 85 episide let it go people.

  • The revamp absolutely sucked. Cutting off his head? Seriously? Don't fuck with the original, as that was the far superior version.

  • the original freeze in the show had a better story and motive however the revamp had a better design. I really love that chilling voice!

  • One of my top 13 Batman villains, i think he's awesome in any version even in the revamp for WB.

  • Mr. Freeze: "Everyone will feel my loss."

    Batman: "Loss of what?"

    Mr. Freeze: "THE GAME."

  • @TheDrRoboto FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF-

    DAMNIT.

Your comment was still win though.

  • i HATE all the revamped characters

  • I don't like any of these revamps :/

  • :( I still say the original Mr. Freeze is my all time fave, I dont like the revamped too much. But im happy the voice stayed the same

  • his voice in this series is just badass!

  • I like the interpretation of Freeze as a tragic hero more; And less how they turned him into just another hateful misanthrope in the cartoon.

  • @Mikeanglo I prefer to think that the incarnation of Mr Freeze after Subzero (aka the redesigned 'robot' one) never happened. Mr Freeze's story was done when Nora was cured. He was a moral man driven by unfortunate circumstances, but his ultimate objective was achieved, and he had no more reason to commit crime. His turning into a misanthrope was a cheap motivation which was against his character and was only implemented as an excuse to have more characters for the revamped show.

  • I just thought of a great reason why Mr. Freeze has no emotions. The reason isn't because of an affect of crygenic mutation, but because he HAS to have no emotions. In the aftermath of the incedint with his CEO, Freeze, beliving that his wife was dead, started to cry. Even though Freezes blood is now cold, his tears are still hot and when they ran down his face, they reacted harshly with his skin, burning his eyes and face. In order to stay alive, Freeze used hypnotic suggestion on himself.

  • (This is a continuation of my other comment) to bury his emotions. I know this doesn't really hold up because at the end of "Heart of Ice", we see him get teary eyed. But I feel this would be a more powerful explenation for why he has no emotions rather than just saying it was a result of being mutated.

  • Wish they did one of Catwoman. Not just because she's in skin tight leather and has a whip, but her character was also interesting.

  • Thumbs-up if Alan Rickman would make the perfect live action Mr. Freeze.

  • @HyaenusDominae Dude he would! And this is coming from a guy that hates Harry Potter

  • @camarosforcharlie I know, right?! It's all in the voice, really.

  • It's a shame that in Arkham city, Freeze will not have Cryokinesis powers

  • @AIRTUBEY Mr. Freeze has never had cryokinesis powers.

  • @jodalita Check Batman Beyond & The Batman!!!!

  • how come thers no file ratcatcher

  • @riddlergirl1 or Killer Croc

  • @Mcjagger11 yea i wish there was a file on rat catcher or firefly or hush

  • First design was my all-time favorite. It just looked so....cool. Maybe the Arkham City design would look better, but number one still looks great.

  • Keep clicking on 0:01

  • OMG Paul Dini the guy who made Tower Prep was a writer and producer and batman the animated series.

  • I would have to say, Mr. Freeze is like the only batman villain that is a truly tragic villain! I feel bad for poor victor!

  • Why does Mr.Freeze's story have to be so sad? I just watched an episode of him and started crying after. :"(

  • How come they don't call him Doctor Freeze? He is a doctor.

  • I like the new looks in "new adventures" but "Animated Series" is still the best :)

  • 0:08 When could Mr.Freeze do that ?

  • @ktkmtbb11 He pretty much lost his body later on in the series, he's just a head.

...yeah, the original series is so much better than The New Adventures. They're both fine, but the original is just perfect and this one's just good.

  • I want Clayface in Arkham City

  • @LLOYD19851012 he was in arkham asylum, you just didn't fight him, there was a cell where you look in it it would be someone random, like the joker, look away and look back its someone else, that was clayface

  • @SuperGT240 What I ment was I want to fight him. He was the one who changed into the warden then Gorden and then officer franklin I think.

  • @LLOYD19851012 And Arkham City is where you do fight him.

  • 0:57

I love when Mortal Kombat shows its influence.

  • @spacemanisaac

Has nothing to do with Mortal Kombat. Sub-Zero was an older Batman Animated Series movie. It's really good, you should look it up sometime.

  • @spacemanisaac cant tell if trolling, or just very very very stupid....

  • I remember as a kid every time my sister would be home from college and wanted to watch BTAS with me it'd be the same damn mr freeze episode!

  • I have a quesiton.. is it Soap Scum or Soaps cum?

  • "Search your hearts for the thing you value most. Then despair, for I have come to take it from you." - Mr. Freeze

"Hey, that's a cool line. Can I borrow that?" - Sephiroth

  • mr.freeze sounds a little bit like captian picard from star trek NG....

  • i liked the new design but the headlwss spider thing was just stupid

  • In "Cold Comfort", I actually WANTED Freeze to die. He'd have deserved it, because there was no point in making him suffer anymore, since he already WAS suffering.

  • @Visonu thats true but its kinda hard to not to feel sorry for him tho I mean I know he is not real but still.

  • @Visonu Well, at least he died in Meltdown (Batman Beyond).

  • @CheesyGranola True, but it was sad again. He was genuinely sorry for all the harm he caused and was prepared to donate large sums of money to everyone he ever hurt. All he wanted was to be normal again.

But in "CC", I think it called for a dramatic death scene.

  • Has the intro music a name?

  • I have some full episodes from the animated series check them out

  • @ironevissi Nice channel. It's a pretty good collection. Do you think you could upload The Demon Within? Its the episode with Etrigen

  • The original Mr. Freeze in TAS kicked so much ass.

  • I was always think Mr. Freeze is Hugo Strange when i was kid , but he isnt .

  • Micheal Ansara well always be remembered as Mr-Freeze.

  • I kinda feel sorry for the poor guy, he's lost his wife he has to stay in a robotic suit, seriously

  • i love the fact that mr freeze is batmans longest living enemies, EVER!

  • oh that's cold get it

  • I feel real sadness for him, because at first he does everything to save his wife and then when his wife is cured she walkes away from him.

  • @baldgenius01 *Spoiler* It's not that she just walked away from him, she actually waited for quite a while then marrierd her doctor and moved away from Gotham. Due to the events of Sub-Zero, Mr. Freeze's condition worsened and he couldn't bring himself to see her. He didn't blame her, even in Batman Beyond he started the Nora foundation for other people with terminal illnesses with the fortune he saved up, due to him being still alive.

  • in the new Mr Freeze he is nearly a bit Retro and decided to remove the Dome face shape and make it like the top is like a Spikey dome with Head as you can see.

  • Freeze turning into a cyborg is nothing to loose your head over....errr wait maybe thats a poor choice of words...

  • you have forgot catwoman and bane

  • @LASERKIRBY1 catwoman isn't insane she doesn't belong in the arkham files.

and i dont think bane is insane either

  • I feel bad for him

  • @PurpleViper2 u think this is bad in the comics he rives her just for her to leave him for another guy

  • I dislike the revamps, esp of Joker and Freeze. I prefer them to have normal looking eyes instead of black everywhere (made them look cheap and less detailed)

  • @hydragon The revamped Joker was horrible... A nearly blank white triangle for a face lmao

  • They basically gave the animated Mr Freeze origin to Dr Octopus in Spiderman 2. Dr Octopus also was made more sympathetic by giving him the tragic wife story which pushed him over the edge into super villainy.

  • @HindsightPOV This was done way before Spiderman 2

  • @FiswaT

I know that. I'm saying the origin given to Dr Freeze from the Batman animated series was so effective, it was ripped off when the Dr Octopus character was written to make him more sympathetic in Spiderman 2.

  • This show basically MADE Mr. Freeze. That's an accomplishment they can really be proud of!

  • Thats not Mr.Freeze. Thats Pretorius!

  • isn t that women the voice of poisen ivy?

  • i liked the batman tas version of him in the batman and robin show he looked more like a robot

  • Oh snap! Mr. Freeze threatend a poddle.

  • =( I feel sad for Mr. Freeze...

  • Comment removed

  • @Deader87 i heard it was like the condition he had was so severe that it spread into his entire body thus rendering it useless. Something along those lines. So while his head was still safe, they amputated it. Somehow he survived the surgery and they attached his head to a weird robot.

  • @Deadeye287 Interesting!!

  • @Deadeye287 yeah. it was from his accident that forces him to live in the suit. the same chemicals making him basically immortal was destroying his body. he got together a team of scientists to try to reverse it but all they could save was his head; that's all the disease hadnt claimed. so they mounted it on the robot

  • Batman Beyond had the best death for Freeze. I still remember the last exchange where Batman says, "You'll die." And Freeze says, "Believe me, you're the only one who cares." Great way to end what was essentially a tragic villain.

  • @AHPMB Damn. If there were a +Infinity button, you're comment would've gotten it.

  • i feel srry 4 mr freeze

  • I'm not a big fan of the cyborg Mr. Freeze. I always liked the one from TAS when I was a kid.

  • Wow, talk about a sad & miserable-existence to only be able to survive at Sub-Zero temperatures!!!

  • mr freeze is cool

  • I have 1 question. With the first Mr. Freeze, he was wearing goggles that made his eyes appear red. With the revamped Mr. Freeze, what happened to the goggles? His eyes were never actually red.

  • @agtfjhdk The moment his wife Nora died, Fries lost whatever humanity he still had underneath that armor. Everything he had done trying to cure her from her illness had been for nothing. With nothing worth living for anymore, he just set out to make sure the rest of the world would feel the same sorrow he did, in a way, losing all humanity, hence the red eyes.

  • @gr13v0u5 In this show, how did she die? Was she still in cryo and the tank broke, or did she come out of cryo and then die of her disease?

  • @ztslovebird Not sure; I think the cryo technology Fries had developed wasn't perfect, and therefore could only slow down the degenerative disease Nora suffered, not "freeze" its progression. I guess Fries took too long to find a cure and she eventually died.

But as I said, I'm not sure. I haven't seen every episode of the series as a kid (but I'd certainly like to today :) ), so I could be wrong.

  • @gr13v0u5 Either way, cancer claimed another victim. Too bad, though; a trigger like that, Fries could've gone either way (good guy or bad guy).

  • @gr13v0u5 Wait, what? Nora was eventually cured by Bruce Wayne (via WayneTech) and then she went and married the doctor who performed the operation. That's what sent Fries on his final and ultimate bender. I haven't watched BTAS since I was a kid, but the story arc (& esp. Michael Ansara) left a big impression on me~

  • @vidaliadear Sorry, my mistake. Got a little confused with the comics. I've been watching the show again, and Nora was indeed cured in this story arc. My bad. Let Dr Freeze turn me into a big chunk of ice for this confusion.

But a friend of mine who is more into the comics told me that in another story, Nora had died from her illness before she could be cured.

  • @gr13v0u5 Nah, it's cool...I just have a really unnatural retentive memory about the series. I think it may have crowded out all the space I need for other, more academic things lol

& yeah, that's just one reason I more or less leave the foundational comics alone; there are so many different accounts of what happened to everyone, your head gets turned round! I mean, Clayface was, what, four, five different versions? Good Lord.

  • @vidaliadear Another flagrant example was Killer Croc. Since when was he a thug only interested in money? I'm guessing they just couldn't show him as a cannibalist madman (like he was in the comics and in the game Arkham Asylum) in a kids-oriented series, lol.

Bah, like all of that really matters. "The Batman" wasn't 100% accurate either. As for "The Brave And The Bold"... I'd much rather not mention that one.

  • @gr13v0u5 ummm, its pretty much only in recent incarnations of the character is Croc often shown as subhuman and canabilistic. for the most part he was largely portrayed as a tough guy thug with a skin ailment.

  • @agtfjhdk Well in my opinion he kinda turned into a cyborg haha, but I think it just has to do with that whole slicker look.

  • 1:46 that part made me really feel bad about Mr Freeze :o(

  • I liked Freeze in the original series, where he is a sympathetic figure, but the revamp just kind of turned him into a dick.

  • @Apollomasque I think it was a strength of the revamp that they upped his dickishness while still keeping him sympathetic.

He definitely redeemed himself in Meltdown though. Well, sorta.

  • Freeze is the best

  • i do not think of mr.freeze as "insane" nor evil he is just a man strucken with love.

  • Great - I've got the same last name - and now I'll be remembered

  • Mr. Freeze would've been perfect for Tim Burton.

  • Of all the villains in the Batman series, you can't help but feel so sorry for Victor Freeze. He didn't do anything to deserve what had happened to him.

  • I think it's so sad when mr.freeze lost his wife! but again he went insane!

  • @Lewis9547 Isnt the guy from the incredibles black and a hero not a villan?

  • @Lewis9547 Erm are you serious? Please tell me because Mr.Freeze has been around for 50+ years.

  • @Lewis9547 you stupid? or just dumb? Batman was here before the incredibles

  • @Lewis9547 you are a dumbass

  • is there arkham files for catwoman?

  • @armoman95 no, but my cousin told me how Catwoman became catwoman...this dude pushed her off this building then these cats told her that she had nine lives....

  • Poor, poor, Mr. Freeze... T_T Wouldn't been saved but he wasted that.

  • Still looks like a Mike Mingola design. Especially the corpse-like head on spider legs. I love it.

  • i think the mr.freeze's new adventures costume, it looks pretty modern kinda futuristic, pretty "cool" lol

  • wouldnt Mr Freeze be a little complicated in Arkham Asylum 2?

  • Mr. Freeze, I sheed Black tears for you, but they end up freezing too.

  • Mr. Freeze is my all time favorite Batman villain, but It's even more fun when he allies with batman.

  • this Mr Freeze reminds me of Dr Pretorius from the mask

  • MR. FREEZE D'; The only villain I'd cry for... Well, maybe I'd cry for the Joker but only becuase he's so amazing.

  • hang on a second the later mr freeze thats barbara edens husband isn't it ?

  • I love that they gave Mr. Freeze a tragic backstory. Growing up, it was one of the first times where I realized that the bad guy didn't have to be all the way bad, that villains didn't have to be completely evil. I cried (almost:}) when I saw what they did to him in The Batman. Not only did they ignore the backstory but the reason he was in the suit amounted to the fact he accidentally got caught in a freezer unit. Pheesh.

  • @floriszaire145 Realistically, people are rarely completely anything.

  • First fave Batman character is joker cause Mark Hamil just made him so likable but Mr. Freeze takes the cake if you want a character with a deep story.

  • Sad Story.

  • Infinitely better than Swartzenegger Mr. Freeze. The cartoon has 10 times the acting ability and story Batman and Robin ever had.

  • I hated him in the second series. He was just going around ruining other people's lives just because HE was unhappy. Someone like that doesn't deserve sympathy. They should be put away for good.

Although he did feel really guilty for that in Batman Beyond, I admit.

  • I liked "The Batman"'s interpretation of Mr Freeze the best he looks so badass but lacks the sympathy you feel for this version.

  • every batman villain gives me a certain emotion: the Joker inspires laughter, Harley Quinn gets me filled with joy, and The Riddler gives me a large level of curiosity, but Mr. Freeze establishes a certain sympathy, a need to lift his burden from his shoulders, and thats what makes him one of my favorite villains.

  • The revamp characters look a lil odd to me and from what i remember when watching the new series i did not like it. But Mr. Freeze is one of my favorite Batman enemies since he can be badass but you can still feel sympathetic about him.

  • for a guy that can't feel anything what so ever; he sure makes some sad faces a lot of the time... hmm... makes you wonder how come the animated fails so much?

  • I liked the old design better

Its less cartoony and much more realistic

  • Of all the villain revamps, this one was the weirdest and nosensical to me. Sub-Zero was a great ending for him so why make him come back as a robot? Makes no sense at all.

  • The revamped characters look terrible, and I'd say it was a very cheap move on Bruce and Paul's part to bring back Mr. Freeze as an evil villain when his story had a happy ending in Subzero.

  • except for Scarecrow and Croc. some of the others look pretty much the same

  • "we kind of decided to..cut off his head and made him a robot" XD

  • i just dont get why freeze didnt just go live with santa at the north pole.

  • @givmespace mr. freeze is on santa's naugthy list...

  • I'm sorry but when I think of Mr. Freeze I still have memories of Arnold in Batman and Robin. huh.

  • Freeze is my favorite villian. the original design is awesome. but the revamp is insane. he truely became an immortal. MAN I really pity Mr.Freeze

  • Mr. Freeze is just a freak who needs to be locked away in Arkham forever.

  • i love this seris

  • Robert Patrick for Mr. Freeze

  • loved the first mr freeze after that the story gets farfetched

  • Mr. freeze doesn't look like much of a villain

  • Victor is "Cool" literally as well

  • Mr. Freeze is propably my favorite Batman villain.

1:47 pretty much sums up why. Of all of Batman's villains he was one of the most human characters and that made his character alot deeper.

  • this maybe a weird question, whats that tune that starts at 1:48

  • allow me 2 break the ice. the name is freeze lern it well for it is the chilling sound of your doom!

  • arnold schwarzenegger as mr freeze in batman and robin i remember that line too lol

  • I think mr. freeze is cute! XD

  • Mr Freeze defines what it is to be an Anti-Villian

  • are they talking about the old batman?

  • The character is such a serious one with serious emotional issues. It kinda distracts from any emotion or feeling in the story when you're talking to a head with spider legs growing out of it...

  • I don't like all the characters' new looks! I like the retro feel!

  • me to! none of the new looks are good. especially joker. Jokers new look is just horrible. Its just a white face with black eyes.... thats it.

  • LOL! Agreed! XD The joker's look changed for the worse.

  • Yeah, I hate the Joker's too. Though I do like Scarecrow's.

Also, why the hell did they make Freeze a villian again? At the end of sub-zero it was perfect. He was finally happy. One of the most tragic Batman villians ever finally had peace. Then they made him miserable and turned him into a villain again. Why? Why couldn't they let him be content? I hated that. for me, Freeze is happy in the north pole and never returned to crime.

  • Here, Here!

  • Because you were probably the only one who watched that movie.

  • It can't be THAT obscure.

  • @BalmungSama0 The movie was supposed to come after the show

  • @dalkass It did. After Batman TAS. Then they decided to come up with The New Batman Adventures and piss all over that movie. I guess they thought its best to undo the character development, because Lord knows they didn't have enough other villians to fill in for Freeze. :/

  • I hated Joker also but why did they do the revamp in the first place the old versions were great.

  • I know. I hated the revamp. Every character model was better in the original state. It looked so much worse afterwards.

  • you know i think its retarded how they mixed the episodes up in batman tas volume 1-4 dvd and didnt just go episode by episode shows a lack of effort but still i'm a die hard batman fan

  • 0:08 Silent Takedown-EPIC PHAIL!

  • they copied the villain from the mask tv series.

  • Quite honestly I liked their first version of Mr.Freeze more than the second version

  • yeah, a disembodied head is a bit much...

  • Yeah.

With few exceptions (like scarecrow) the designs for the first animated series are a lot better, IMO.
