  • The idea that all people of faith support the hatred and bigotry of Proposition 8 is a lie. Not only do the Episcopal, Presbyterian, Metropolitan Community, Universalist Unitarian, United Chuch of Christ and Evangelical Lutheran Church in America churches welcome gay members, but, also, they have gay clergy. They definitely are not part of this campaign of prejudice and hate.

  • If you are unclear and confused as to what exactly a tradional marriage comprises in the biblical sense, there is a clear and cogent explanation of it in the YouTube video:

"Betty Bowers Explains Traditional Marriage to Everyone Else" by MrsBettyBowers

Once you view it, you will understand why is it so important to defend traditional marriage.

  • Prop 8 not an attack on Homosexuality? But protect the definition of Marriage? Since when did the definition of a word need protecting?

This guy (Jim Lopez) talks out both sides of his mouth! Oh ... he's a Politician.

  • These folks really need to read the Amazon com book titled:

THE BIG PICTURE: A Cure for Homophobia

  • @starmaYker

Yes, they should. They should, also, read the book "Hate Thy Neighbor: How the Bible is Misused to Condemn Homosexuality" by Linda J. Patterson.

Two movies that they should watch, both of which can be found on Amazon, are "Prayers For Bobby" and "For The Bible Tells Me So."

  • because as Christians believe there is sin, which sin is against god. homosexuality is a sin

  • you're a moron.

  • *reads description* Dude....what's with the assumption that all christians are straight?

Everyone deserves the right to call the man or woman they love their husband or wife. Their own sex shouldn't be an issue.

  • what in the world was that marrage thing beging proformed them two dudes barely could hold back their laughing, and what in the world from the back end of a left wing liberals leaking blown out ass hole was that marrying them. Where in the world was that idea came up from? Had a Asian look to it but I dont know any self respecting asian who would preform something like that

  • there is nothing more beautiful like loving someone and finding that 1 person that will be your everything, and you want to tie yourself to them forever because they are what make living worth while.... And you mean to tell me that there are people out there that want to take that away from someone? HOW? i don't understand how can anyone be so cruel. We only have one life for god's sake!!!

Please i beg you... please! its hard enough as it is!! dont make happiness something even harder to reach!

  • Make no mistake, Prop 8 and laws like it will DESTROY MARRIAGE.

If marriage is defined in religious terms, then it CANNOT receive special recognition under the law. Under the First Amendment, the law is not permitted to interfere with or abet religious functions. Thus, the will of the people is that all marriages be stripped of their legal protections, reduced to mere religious functions. Way to go, you morons!

  • Sorry Joe Cool! Obama is personnally against gay marriage, but would vote NO on 8. He stated so publicly, (on TV)! Why?, because he knows it is a CONSTITUTIONAL issue, not a religious one. He taught constitutional law for 10 years, so he knows his shit! I am glad YOU don't live in California! We don't need one more hateful and intolerant person living here! Vote NO on 8!

  • Obama doesn't support gay marriage because to do so would not be politically expedient.

Anyway, too bad pal. Prop 8 passed.

  • What is the song that Ethel Merman is singing starting at 25 seconds into this video? Where does it come from?

  • You all need to read your bibles again. I suggest Leviticus 20:17 & 20:10, Mark 10:1-12, Corinthians 14:33-36 just to name a few.

  • Enough is enough! Only the facts will answer everyone's questions and opinions. Please view the facts at: .com/watch?v=4JZIJnJWZBQ

  • Who are we going to be like?

Are we going to be like the 11 Disciples or Judas Iscariot Betraying and Deserting Him in His day and hour of need?

  • I agree that you might not be hateful, but you are FOR SURE intolerant. The people that are voting Yes are ignorant. They don't know what constitutional law is and do not care about human rights. Check out the California Voters Guide. Every organization and political party is voting no except the Republican party. McCain cheated on his 1st wife than divorced her.

This is not about anyones views which we should all respect. It is about constitutional rights!

    VOTE NO ON 8!

  • A yes on 8 should also mean churches have to pay taxes; it's only fair since their beliefs always seem to threaten my liberties and pursuit of happiness. Actually, its less than fair, but thats to be expected from bigots.

  • Stop being brainwashed by the Mormon Church. They spent $20 million spreading lies! NO ON 8!!!!

  • This is not about Mormon Church you stupid moron. It's about protecting traditional marriage between man and woman. After all, God created Adam and Eve; NOT Adam and Steve.

  • okay this is stupid either your gay.....STOP AND THINK OTHER PEOPLE HAVE CHILDREN

  • MY religion does not condemn gay marriage, and therefore those of you who are for Prop 8 are denying my religious freedoms. I think the Mormons should stay on their compound in Utah and stop trying to IMPOSE your beliefs on everyone in our state (CA). You have crossed the line into a territory of combining religion with politics that is dangerous. I will not tell you that you cannot have a temple wedding, and you should not tell me that I can't marry my same sex partner. VOTE NO ON PROP 8!

  • Rrior to june 12 1967, my parents were not allowed to marry because they are both from different races, it's the same damn thing now in 2008 with gays because Long ago, guess what? Protect traditional marriage meant marrying only within your race so it was against the church to marry outside your race a long time ago and they are doing it again with gays, they are still keeping two people who love eachother from getting married.

End discrimination now! Vote no on prop 8

  • I just voted YES on 8!!

VOTE YES ON PROPOSITION 8 EVERYONE!!!

  • YES ON Proposition 8

    (_) NO

    (x) YES

  • Protect your kids from being taught to accept homosexual marriage as normal, as young as kindergarten. Gay couples have all the rights, privileges, and blessings married couples have and prop 8 doesn't change that. Vote yes on 8!!! YES ON 8!

  • What's wrong with kids accepting homosexual marriage. If they're not gay they will marry the opposite sex, if they are the will marry the same sex. In the future both straight and gay marriages will be equal, and that will be a beautiful site.

    VOTE NO on PROP 8!

  • its wrong YES ON 8

gee.....whats next you saying that humans can marry animal??? PLEASE give me a break.....gay people can commit to life....other than that MARRIAGE IS FORM GOD SO THAT MEANS SACRED

  • hey hey I do enjoy fucking a dog and s heep now and then. They dont back talk they dont mind a hump and dump.

  • And how is this protecting your Gay children from tiny minded bigotry?

  • Oh My God That Kiss Was So fucking Gross!!!!

  • YES ON 8

  • If you don't like gay marriages, then just dont fucking get married to a guy, its simple. Our life style as included the gay communities as equals, and never have they caused any real trouble, [Infact, its proven that gay relationships last longer then conventional ones anyways] I am not gay, I'm merely a strict Socialist who believes that equal rights amongst EVERYONE, EVEN GAYS.

People should not be oppressed due to the color of their skin, or sexuality, If you like prop. 8, you fail, hard.

  • I am a pastor. Prop 8 doesn't force churches to perform marriages. It's upto the pastors to decide what marriages will be performed. If anyone tells you differently, its fear mongering.

In my opinion, gay couples should have the right to visit each other in the hospital, the right to job health care, and the right to attend their partner's funeral.

That is why I'm voting NO on Prop 8.

  • I'm for keeping marriage the same way your parents marriage was......the same it has been for 4000+ years. Social experiments at the expense of our children is not OK.

France said no to gay marriage........Our entire civilization has said no to gay marriage since ancient times. Is France full of bigots, the "arrogant" and the "hateful"?

    THAT'S WHY I'M VOTING YES ON 8!

  • justathought3 4,ooo years ago Marriage was polgamy. Yes read the Bible Moses, Abraham, David,Saul were all polgamist with up to 4 legal wives and as many slave conubines as they could afford. Then the Slave marriage

became popular the bride was SOLD into marriage by her father with no choice of her own. Marriage was used to seal trade agreements,Peace treaties,Join Royal families,

Join fortunes or land the Women had no choice

they WERE PROPERTY OF THEIR MALE FAMILY SOLD INTO MARRIAGE.

  • justathought3 read your history marriage was never about Children infact children were

often murdered at birth are left to die especially daughters. Marriage has CHANGED MORE Times than you can count. EACH Culture

had it's own views of marriage. Many cultures today have different veiws. So bring back group marriage, polgamy, SLAVE marriage the very things you accuse homosexual marriage of opening the door for. Oh BTW the ancient Eygptians often married brother & sister.

  • Please have a straight person explain the sanctity of marriage to me again. I didn't understand it when explained by Britney Spears, Elizabeth Taylor, Brad Hanson and the like....

  • why would you even bother listening to Britney Spears, Elizabeth Taylor, and Brad Hanson about the sanctity of marriage?

  • ....NO WAY on 8! ...NO WAY, NO McLame aka 'Old Fart McAncient'!

    ...Marriage Amendments are SOOOOOOOOOO Yesterday!

Gay marriage is totally LEGAL in Canada, England, & a handful of other countries.

I thought America was the land of Freedom....It's more like the land of Intolrance...

    Very sad!

    OBAMA..............ALL THE WAY!

  • sad day humanity

  • did you say the same thing about interracial marriages? Is that the union jack on your profile????

  • Voting yes on prop 8 breaks the commandments? Last time I checked, the bible clearly talks about homosexuality breaking the laws of God. Paul wrote to those of Corinth that "...the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of god...neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, NOR ABUSERS OF THEMSELVES WITH MANKIND...", which means homosexuals. Jesus taught to love the sinner, but not the sin. Protect marriage as God instituted it when he gave the command to Adam! Vote YES

  • VOTERS: Are you really ready to trust christoobsdkb and his VERY selective bible quotes with our Constitution?

You think this wacko will be satisfied with Prop 8? He's got WAY more bible verses up his sleeve and I bet he's got one for you.

Are you next on his list?

  • everychild has a right to have a mommy and a daddy..if this bills fails homo's can adopt and guess what..children can be adopted and these poor children won't be able to have a mommy and a daddy..where is the justice for these children I am so sick of these people saying "let the gays marry" they aren't thinking about these poor innoncent children.

  • LOVEET says: "if this bills fails homo's can adopt and guess what..children can be adopted"

News flash, Loveet-- gay couples can already adopt. Now. Singles too. Prop 8 does NOT ONE THING to adoption rights or parental rights for gay people.

The only effect on those KIDS will be having to hear the people they love most in the world explain that to them their parents aren't married any more because YOU objected, Loveet.

Loveet, I don't think you really care anything about kids at all.

  • De verdad, hay que proteger las familias y la santidad de matrimonio. Vote Si por proposicion 8!

  • A VOTE YES ON PROP 8 BREAKS JESUS' COMMANDMENTS. He said,"Treat others the way you would want to be treated." If you were one of the thousands of gay couples who married in California, would you want your marriage declared not valid?? NO, you would not. That goes against the GOLDEN RULE, and against "Love your neighbor as yourself, which would mean you don't love God. Imagine how much this "crusade" to destroy the pursuit of happiness for gay citizens will hurt them? Don't be hypocrites!

  • Okay, I have to dismiss these lies: the failure of prop 8 and the legalization of gay marriage does not lead to a suppression of individual faith. people will be entitled to their personal religions and opinions against homosexuality. In response to ivyleaguer4prop8, pastors will not be sued for anti-gay teachings. Doctors... well they are doctors... they are actually meant to treat everyone non-discriminatorily!!! they do deserve to be sued for rejecting treatment to others!!

  • Consequences of Prop 8 failing:

    1) Kids will be taught gay lifestyles in grade school.

    2) Pastors will be persecuted and sued for "hateful" and "discriminatory" speech if they preach anti-gay teachings from the Bible.

    3) Individuals will be sued for their personal beliefs if they "discriminate" against gays, even if against their religious beliefs (ex. San Diego doctor forced to artificially inseminate lesbian couple despite his religious beliefs and availability of willing doctors). YES ON 8!

  • These are such lies... people should stop believing in things which are not true!!!!

  • ivyleaguer feeds several lies at once: "Kids will be taught gay lifestyles in grade school."

Kids already learn about gay people--and all sorts of other people--at an age-appropriate level in school. Banning marriage won't make a bit of difference.

  • ivyleaguer feeds several lies at once: "Pastors will be persecuted and sued for "hateful" and "discriminatory" speech if they preach anti-gay teachings from the Bible."

If that were true, it could happen NOW, and not just to gay people. Plenty of pastors say bad things about folks they don't like--whether they're married or not--and none has ever been sued for "hate speech". EVER. Just another Prop 8 scare tactic. This is a fake issue, and banning marriage wouldn't fix it even if it were true.

  • those ivyleaguer lies just keep on comin': "ndividuals will be sued for their personal belief."

No one in this country has EVER been sued for a belief and you cannot name a single case because there aren't any. A business licensed by the state can be sued for darn sure for its ACTIONS (not its beliefs). Doctors know precisely what the law requires of them if they are licensed by the state and MANY of those laws require docs to do things they don't wish to do.

  • ivyleaguer's nose is getting longer: "San Diego doctor forced to artificially inseminate lesbian"

This incident occurred in 2000 when same-sex marriage was illegal in CA. In other words, it happened to an UNMARRIED WOMAN, so Prop 8 would not change a darn thing about this little story. Banning marriage for a few Californians won't keep lawsuits from happening at all. In fact it won't make one bit of difference in ANY of the scare stories ivyleaguer tells.

Don't believe the lies. Vote NO on 8.

  • no on prop 8!!! It's basic human right!!

  • Basically the law in CA says that you may not use physical force OR the threat of physical force to intimdate people. That means if your pastor is standing in the pulpit preaching that the congregation should "get some baseball bats and teach the gays a thing or two," then he might be arrested for a hate crime.

  • "422.6. (a) No person, whether or not acting under color of law, shall by FORCE or THREAT OF FORCE, willfully injure, intimidate, interfere with, oppress, or threaten any other person in the free

exercise or enjoyment of any right or privilege secured to him or her by the Constitution or laws of this state or by the Constitution or laws of the U.S. in whole or in part because of one or more of the actual or perceived characteristics of the victim listed in subdivision (a) of Section 422.55."

  • If you're concerned about protecting the family, vote NO on Prop 8! Prop 8 only serves to alienate and weaken the thousands of families headed by gay couples. Those families derserve to be treated equally, and that means not forcing them to use some alternate legal union so that people don't confuse them as being normal, valuable citizens.

  • The bottom line is, gay relationships are just as deserving as heterosexual relationships. If Prop 8 passes, you're saying that gays aren't equal to straights, plain and simple. You can sugar-coat it all you want, but it all this "protect marriage" B.S. boils down to people not accepting gays as equals. How can they when they can't even call them "normal?"

  • traditional? let me see Who wants to marry a millionaire.I love new york or that show with flavor flave marriage is not sacred in this country

  • Thank you for going to the effort to compile video, in Spanish and English, which shows a little bit of the history leading up to this proposition. Definitely some disturbing footage!

  • I am sooo over the religious-right already!

    ...It is really getting old.

    Marriage amendments are SOOOOOOO yesterday!

    NO on 8,

    NO on 102,

NO on 2, ...in CA, AZ, & FL!

    ...GO OBAMA!

    Lets Gays get married...

    It's ALL GOOD!

  • no on prop. 8!

  • if equal rights were not granted, hispanics like Jim Lopez would not be allowed to run for office, or even worse, Barack! gay rights are this generations civil rights... the gay community is not going anywhere except the chapel.

  • BIGOTS! IT WILL HAPPEN WHETHER YOU LIKE IT OR NOT! IT IS AN ATTACK ON GAY RIGHTS! homophobia is pathetic.

  • noooo

    vote no on proposition 8

it's homophobic, you have to vote AGAINST it

  • VOTE NO

  • It's crazy that rights will be voted away under the Constitution.. by a bunch of Homophones The California Marriage Protection Act

    VOTE NO on Proposition 8

    An NO To Homophones!!!

  • AMEN

  • if there was never change blacks and women wouldnt have the same rights. Youre trying to make america into the hate filled placed you "PRAY" for it to be. you fucking fag bashers. put your self in gays shoes. not being able to officially be together or get the same rights as someone else just because of their preference. burn in fucking hell you hate mongers!!

  • Despite what mevs85 and a lot of others would have you think, yes prop 8 would in fact permanently take away a right that has already been granted, something that has not been done by constitutional amendment before or since prohibition! I saw first hand how the people of Massachussetts didn't even allow this sneaky gimmick on their public ballot, but since we couldn't stop the billionaire biggots here, we have to stand up and vote down. NO on prop, no no no! This deceptive hate cannot stand!

  • Not all religions are against it, there are exceptions.

And I'm sorry, the "Sanctity of marriage being protected" is a load of crap.

2 people marrying DOESN'T AFFECT YOU. People marry for money, people marry to better their social standing, why in the world could you have a problem with people who want to marry for love.

    HONESTLY

tell me how it affects any of you who are planning to vote yes.

I challenge you to give even a semi-compelling reason.

  • If FAT people, Murderers, Theives and Adulterers can marry, then Gays/Lesbian should have the right to MARRY!!

  • The Religious Institutions and people that are intolerant against civil rights, are once again using religion to mask their anti-gay true feelings. I keep hearing that "it is the will of the majority of the people that marriage be between a man and a woman". In 1967, 90% OF AMERICANS OPPOSED INTERRACIAL MARRIAGE upon the Supreme Court Ruling in Loving vs Virginia. . Majority rule does not always guarantee justice. Please Vote NO on Prop 8, be a civil rights advocate and don't eliminate rights.

  • it isn't inevitable! you haven't won! prop 22 passed so will prop 8! YES ON PROP 8!

p.s. dont hate on the gays, thats not what jesus would do

  • MARRIAGE is for ALL!

LOVE is the foundation of Marriage, straight or Gay.

    Period!

    NO on 8 in CA,

    NO on 102 in AZ,

    Vote OBAMA in ALL STATES!

  • Don't forget to vote NO on 2 in Florida as well!

  • I don't want the California Constitution altered. It was written to protect all Californians. Vote NO on 8!

  • ok first of all :57 scared the crap out of me.and look i dont have a problem with gay people they are funny but you cant get married simple, its between a man and a women.and what would polygamy have to do with prop 8.mormons rock! vote yes on 8!

  • glad you cannot vote

  • Vote YES on prop 8.

God Created Adam and Eve. NOT Adam and steve.

    -Vrej

  • They don't hate gay people. They just don't think they should be given equal rights. Maybe we should return the 3/5ths rule for Black_Americans. As long as we're all going to away rights for whole communities of people.

  • Throughout recorded history every society has had a word that means marriage defined as between man & woman. Each of those societies also has a word for same sex relationships. I have many relatives & friends who have chosen a homosexual lifestyle. I love them and I tolerate their relationships, but I dont condone them. I vote for them to have the same benefits as my wife and I have, but an apple is an apple -- an orange is an orange. Why should we try to redefine marriage?

  • k10star asks: "Why should we try to redefine marriage?"

We absolutely shouldn't, k10. Prop 8 seeks to insert a NEW definition of marriage into out Constitution that was NEVER there before. Our Constitutions does not need any re-definitions or re-writing. That's why I'm voting NO.

  • We NEED to amend the constitution to put these 4 judges in their place! If we dont make a stand now the will of the people will mean nothing. Read their ruling! The State Constitution is supposed to protect everyone equally. This ruling and Mayor Gavin are manipulating the system to take away my rights! If 8 looses EVERYONE, even homosexuals are affected negatively! If 8 passes homosexuals will still have the legal benefits of marriage in CA, but they wont be able to call an Apple an Orange.

  • k10star says: "homosexuals will still have the legal benefits of marriage in CA"

Why would you say that, k10? Do you really care about gay rights? Or are you just trying to make voters feel less squeamish about voting to revoke their neighbors' marriages?

Any married person knows that they have a huge number of rights AND responsibilities they didn't have when they were single. The moment this prop passes my spouse becomes a stranger to me in the eyes of the law.

    Your comment is FALSE.

  • Not TRUE! My uncle and his partner entered into their civil union long before these issues came up. My uncle has since passed away but Steve still gets my uncles monthly retirement check and all the other benefits just the same as if they had been married. I loved my uncle and Steves a great man. You and your spouse may love each other dearly, but your relationship by the centurys old definition is not marriage. I guess we have to amend the constitution to make that clear. Vote YES on 8.

  • k10star says: "Steve still gets my uncles monthly retirement check and all the other benefits just the same as if they had been married."

PRIVATE retirement benefits vary from company to company. Ask to see uncle's social security check; good luck. If Steve didn't pay inheritance tax, then the IRA will get him. If uncle had become sick out of state, Steve would have been considered a stranger in the law's eyes. If Steve were an immigrant he would have been deported.

    I know. I've lived it.

  • k10 comments on domestic partner rights.

The CA Family Code states that No public agency in this state may discriminate against any person or couple on the ground that the person is a registered domestic partner rather than a spouse.

But a private enterprise may discriminate, and they commonly do. If my company offers spousal health insurance coverage, my husband is included. But the company has the right to exclude my domestic partner, even if they offer the benefit to a wife or husband.

  • Regardless of Culture or Societal definitions, I personally believe that marriage was ordained of God before this world was created. I tolerate homosexual relationships, but cant condone them. I believe each of us come earth to be tried and tested with different challenges. I believe in a loving God and I want to be able to share my beliefs without fear of being put in jail for a hate crime because I tell someone that God says marriage is between man and woman. Discrimination is a 2 way street!

  • k10star says: "I personally believe that marriage was ordained of God before this world was created."

And I believe a lot of things, too, k10. Difference is that I'm not trying to force my beliefs on anyone or make a law of them. I do realize there's a counter-argument--that somehow if you have to look at me or see that I or my spouse even exist, that this is somehow forcing a belief upon you. I think that argument is wrong.

  • Actually, without realizing it many in the GBLT community will be forcing their beliefs on EVERYONE! Equality means you share your beliefs, Ill share mine, but if prop 8 fails I wont be able to share my beliefs anymore without fear of prosecution under existing hate crimes laws. But GBLT will use existing laws to use tax dollars to reprint textbooks & force teachers to indoctrinate kids about the NEW GBLT definition of marriage. Who is forcing their beliefs on everyone else? Vote YES on 8!

  • k10star says: "Equality means you share your beliefs."

As a practicing Catholic, I may BELIEVE that marriage is till death, and that divorced persons may not remarry in the eyes of God. (Just as you may believe in what I imagine is your tradition--just guessing here--that marriage is forever).

But it's a huge leap from my Catholic belief to passing a law that outlaws divorce and remarriage for all. That's equivalent to what Prop 8 does.

  • k10star says: "I wont be able to share my beliefs anymore without fear of prosecution under existing hate crimes laws."

Well k10, you could use that trumped-up excuse as justification for ANY law you want: "I'm AFRAID I'll be jailed for opposing (fill in the blank) in the future, so we should vote to BAN (same blank) now"

I suppose anything's possible in the future, but since it's NEVER happened so far in CA, MA, and all of Canada so far, you're probably safe from those mean gay people.

  • k10star says domestic partners have the same rights os spouses.

If k10's family moves to Boston and (God forbid) Mrs. k10 gets sick of the snow and demands a divorce, then they have the right to get one. But k10 and his domestic partner, if he had one, would have to return to California to dissolve their union.

There are hundreds of rights reserved solely for marriage that will be stripped away in an instant the moment Prop 8 passes (God forbid).

  • I feel that I do understand where you are coming from more than you might believe. I have written letters fighting FOR your rights, but Ill also continue to fight to preserve traditional marriage. If this proposition was to grant same sex couples every right married couples have I would vote for it, but not if its called marriage. We are back to the apple vs. orange problem.

  • k10star says: " feel that I do understand where you are coming from more than you might believe. I have written letters fighting FOR your rights, but Ill also continue to fight to preserve traditional marriage. "

    Thank you.

  • For "Mr.Equality" k10:

Hundreds of federal spousal rights are denied to domestic partners. Some are biggies, such as joint IRS filing and social security surviving spouse benefits. The feds dont presently recognize same-sex marriage, but certain AGENCIES may have to allow equal RIGHTS for couples married under state law. There are gray areas: k10 cant be forced to testify against his wife in federal court in CA. Its unclear whether I have that right when married, but I DONT have it as a DP.

  • k10star says: "your relationship by the centurys old definition is not marriage."

    Bull.

A century's a long time, k10. In my own lifetime the definition has changed at least three times. And I'm not THAT old. When I was a kid it was two people of the same race (because, we were told, "God put the races on separate continents for a reason"). And then it was ALSO two people who had never been married before. And of course there's the one man and SEVERAL women thing, still legal in some countries.

  • Cultural and societal rules for marriage are based mostly on tradition but I have not found any definition of marriage that was not between man (men) & woman (women). The interracial restrictions on marriage seem silly now, or do they? I know many mixed race couples and just like any couple with different backgrounds, they seem to have EXTRA challenges. I know you dont agree with me, but I want you to know there are people who support your cause, just dont ask for it to be called "marriage".

  • Mormons are asking YOU to what to do with PROP 8? Beside the obvious hate being spread: don't the Mormons think marriage is more like one man and 1-2-3-4-......a whole BUNCH of women? STOP HATE NOW- VOTE NO ON PROP 8

  • Um No on 8.. A yes is only for hate! Lets go back to hating blacks and woman for being different.. Soooo not the American WAY! Just Republican Terrorists

  • wow you are really ignorant, prop 8 takes away NO rights from gay couples, it has nothing to do with hate!and it sounds like the only prejudice here are your feelings for republicans

  • Thank you I support pro 8 and 4

  • Mormons are asking YOU to what to do with PROP 8? Beside the obvious hate being spread: don't the Mormons think marriage is more like one man and 1-2-3-4-......a whole BUNCH of women? STOP HATE NOW- VOTE NO ON PROP 8

  • No we believe in marriage between one man and one woman! just like it says in the bible. God's word should be the word of all the people on the planet plain and simple, not the philosophies of men, or women VOTE YES

  • There is no hate being spread and mormons havent practiced polygamy in over a century!

  • whatever your religious beliefs are, you have no right to make them laws that everyone else should obey. The GBLT community do not force anyone to be queer, but the fundamentalists want to force their religion on everyone else. It is NOT democracy to vote your beliefs into everyone else's lives.

    NO ON 8!

    NO ON 8!

    NO ON 8!

  • I'm voting no. because even if marriage the truth is they are getting married so why do we have to mask it. it just comes to show how immature of a nation we are when they are so worried that this is going to change their children's orientation.

  • seriously just let people marry whoever they want just leave everyone alone its there life let them be happy!!!

  • Hey, any other Spanish-speakers listening to this thing? Did you notice that old Jim Lopez tells US that without Prop 8 there will be new education requirements in school and that it's "wrong for us to go against the Bible and God's teaching"?

How come he didn't tell the English-speakers that stuff? Does he think THEY'RE smart enough not to buy that kind of rhetoric, but that he can get away with using those lines on US? What a tool.

    I'm voting NO.

  • God is against gay marriage. Now excuse me...I have a TON of people to kill who've cursed their parents.

-For everyone who curses his father or his mother shall surely be put to death. He has cursed his father or his mother. His blood shall be upon him.- (Leviticus 20:9)

  • God created us all even the ones who are different from you an me. i thank god for the love I share everyday. Do not take that right away from others who have found it in a way. They are gods children like you and me. do not be unjust let them be and let yourself be. Different

    VOTE NO ON 8

  • Such vitriol from the opposition to prop 8. :(

I agree with thefluxster that marriage for those of the same sex does not fall under a constitutional right. Being treated equally under the law does not equal marriage being a "right".

  • GuilelessMom says: "Such vitriol from the opposition to prop 8."

Oh, tsk, tsk. You know, Mom, YOU might get a little peeved if someone wanted to REVOKE your marriage. And none of this compares to the Prop 8 videos showing pictures of last summer's fires and saying that God burns children out of their homes just because two gals over in the next county got a marriage license. Or the ones that compare our marriages to hooking up with your mother or your dog.

    Spare me your outrage, Mom.

  • GuilelessMom says: "I agree with thefluxster that marriage for those of the same sex does not fall under a constitutional right."

Thanks for your legal opinion, Mom. The Supreme Court disagrees with you.

  • Since when is marriage not a right? Since when is living in legal union with the person you love not a right? Since when does YOUR ridiculous middle-aged faith determine other people's abilities to legally dedicate their lives to one another?

  • We can love, tolerate, but we don't have to condone. Vote yes on Prop 8 - don't let marriage get redefined. Civil rights are not included in this proposition - those are legislation, not constitution-based.

  • Since when does tax laws and statutes of rights of attorney get determined by SOME peoples faith? It is NOT democracy to vote your FAITH into law!!!

  • We are ALL God's children and this is America, where all people should be treated equally under the law.

If prayer and religious works are called for in today's world they should be directed toward lifting up and addressing poverty, hopelessness, homelessness, hurricanes, etc...not toward eliminating the right of some members of our community to have their loving commitments recognized.

  • Vote YES on prop 8.

God Created Adam and Eve. NOT Adam and steve.

    -Vrej

  • Did it take you a REAL long to think that one up, Vrej?

  • no, gays disgust me, im christian i dont believe people are born gay. its nasty wrong and it wont be legal.

    Once Again.

    Vote YES on prop 8.

God Created Adam and Eve. NOT Adam and steve.

  • God teach us tolerance and love. I appreciate that you are voting YES on Prop. 8. I am voting YES on 8 too, but I hope you find it in your heart to love homosexuals. They are Gods children too! There is a big difference between tolerance and condoning. We can love someone while still maintaining and advocating our standards and beliefs. I have friends and relatives who have chosen the Homosexual lifestyle. I still love them and accept their relationships, but I dont condone them.

  • k10star says: "There is a big difference between tolerance and condoning."

k10, please understand this: I do not care one whit whether you tolerate me or not. What I do care very deeply about--and what I demand--is the same rights as every other taxpaying citizen.

Go tolerate someone else and keep your nose out of my marriage and my family.

  • For those heterosexuals that use the excuse that homosexuality is a choice, how would you know if you are not gay. How can you possibly know for sure what a person other than your self thinks. It's impossible for that statement to be validated coming from a heterosexual. The Society of Pediatrics, Council of Psychology and numerous Medical Journals all agree that homosexuality is not a choice but biological in origin, like being black, white, short, tall, fat or skinny.

  • How would you know people are not born gay? Are you in direct contact with God herself?

  • God created me too. GAY. I didn't have a choice in who I am; GOD made me this way. I should have the choice when it comes to who I can marry.

  • My response to the Spanish portion of the video:

Tell Jim Lopez if he wants to promote the Bible, then he should stick to his church and stay the heck out of our government.

Jim-- your priest can decide on every marriage in his church, but he and you can stay OUT of mine, thanks.

And Prop 8 has NOTHING to do with what teachers teach in class. And you already know that.

    Lying's a sin, Sweetie.

    Vote NO on Prop 8.

  • How is this 'Protecting Traditional marriage?'

Traditional marriage is not being violated. You still have the right to marry. So why is it such a huge fucking deal to let others be happy too?

Who are we to tell others who they can love?

  • Letter from God: I am speaking from the bottom of my heart I am extremely disappointed that some are using my name to teach hate and discrimination that's not what I am about I created this World and created the people living on this planet I created white people, latinos blacks and asians as well as straight and gay people I don't create garbage and I love all my children's equally as I created each of them with love If your church is teaching you to hate then it is time to find the real ME
  • Prop 8 is a waste....its just a change in name from civil union to marriage?!?!?! what the fuck....let em call it what they want and you call it what you want.

  • NO ON 8

    Prop 8? NO.

  • For some people, marriage is still paternalistic, i.e. husband is head of family. They see gay marriage as pushing marriage toward being more of a partnership of equals. With more equality, these men could lose power and these women could lose the comfort of being their husbands ward. For some, this is terrifying. A wife might ask: Why is it you are in charge? A husband might ask: Why is your care primarily my responsibility? For many, gay marriage begs these scary questions.

  • This is the weakest argument I have heard! LOL!

Yes, a man is established as "head of household" according to the Lord's direction. He also commands men to "love your wives as Christ loves the church."

In a christ-centered home, love is the dominant force. I'm not defending WCC churches.

Couples who pray together- our divorce rate is less than one in 10,000.

  • ROFL, you're being sexist.

    You're an idiot.

    No on prop 8.

  • Yay California for equal rights!!!

  • Vote yes on Proposition 8! Don't let the opponents of the propostion decieve you - if gay marriage becomes a stronghold in California, it will sweep across our country like an uncontrollable disease. It will De-Christianize our nation and send the world into global anarchy. Gay people are unethical, immoral, and most of all a bad influence on today's generation. Preserve marriage between one man and one woman. Thank you.

  • cruel, you live up to your name. If only your name was "cruelignorant" it would be perfect. You make completely unfounded predictions. Our world is already in anarchy, and it's not because of gay marriage being legal in 7 countries, it's because of moronic world and bank leaders.

Do you even know any gay people? All the ones I know are good people, better than a lot of the so-called Christians I've met. They're kind, work hard, and strive to have as normal a life as society will allow them.

  • cruell, spoken like a true Phineas Priest!! March on, spread your hate and intolerance!!

  • If Prop 8 passes, gay marriages performed in Massachusetts or other countries will not be recognized here. Those couples would have to start all over again with a domestic partnership.

For gays to have to come up with an alternative in order to have equal rights means they are seen as second class in the eyes of the State. Seperate but equal is never equal.

  • You fail to mention how allowing gay marriage ONLY affects gays. Sure, heterosexuals would be able to marry members of the same sex, but if they're truly straight why would they want to? Allowing polygamy would allow EVERYONE, straight or gay to marry multiple people.

If you want to dilute and reduce the meaning of marriage, by all means allow unlimited marriage partners. However, allowing gay marriage will not affect current or future straight married couples in the least.

  • By this example then you are admitting it's not about equality. You don't want equality for those with different attractions as you do. Talk about hypocrisy.

  • If you could understand my previous arguments, you'd see that gays were the ONLY ones in this country denied marriage rights. Polygamist and incestuous people aren't even CLOSE to being denied the basic marriage ability as were gays.

  • Totally false. In fact gays have more "rights" to civil marriage that pro-polygamists do not. Nor can family members who share love and attraction have anything like it. What makes gays so special we need to redefine it all for just them?

  • I don't really consider not being able to marry anyone you could fall in love with a right. Having a dating pool of 0 is NOT equal. People who practise incest have a large dating pool because they're going to be attracted to other people besides their family. Gays (I assume you know what that word means) aren't going to want to marry people of the opposite sex, but that's all you limit them to.

  • But there are civil unions, which I have no problem with and most don't. What are same sex attraction folks being deprived of again? In California civil unions give all the rights of married couples.

  • If domestic partnerships are so great, let's do away with civil marriage and have everyone, gay or straight, register as domestic partners. Marriage will then become a purely religious, heterosexual institution. I'm sure once Prop 8 fails someone will try to get something like this passed.

  • You didn't answer my question.

  • trencher, if you're reffering to me I believe I did answer your question. The main thing gays are being deprived of is equality. I know you think that having NO potential marriage partners is equal under the former marriage laws, but for the rest of us it ain't equal.

One major thing that gays are being depived of are the Federal marriage protections. I know this isn't a state issue, but domestic partnerships aren't eligible for the hundreds of Federal benefits and prtoections of law.
