OMG!, I... rather, we sang this song when I was in Don bosco Makati (decades ago). A meaningful song for everyone, not just for Filipinos. Great song ...even... GREAT SINGER! (I love her! A down-to-earth person.) I hope even greater things will come to her.
Gustong-gusto ng anak ko ang kantang ito. Itinuturo ko nga kahit hindi ako musicians. Kasi ang ganda ng pagkanta ni Lea at ginagaya na lang niya. Salamat sa pagap-load ng kantang ito.
Music for Filipino are part of celebrations with out it it would probably lonely celebration just like in my paryer guide book they said that the school without music is like a body without a soul.
cuz im a filipino and i also beleive it but im half chinese too but i cant speak chinese.and im the daughter of this user i know my dads username and password here and im 9 yeras old myand im a fourth grader in my school the song i am but a small voice and the tagumpay song we sang it last year when i was still a third grader but i don't know if were gonna sing it again we sang the tagumpay for buwan ng wika
The songs are fantastic. What is the name of the song Lea Salonga sings. I may not be from the Philippines but it's a beautiful song and I would love to know more about it --- the name and the lyrics. Thank you for your help.
i heared this song and i remember my childhood though phils. now is different from the past i miss patintero and piko.i miss also batang yagit huhuhuh...
I love this song. Its a funny story. In my ninth grade science class our teacher is from the philipines and he would sing this to us every few classes. Lol it sounds better on youtube :D
No, Lea did not write the song. But it was written by a 13-year old Filipina girl back in 1980 when the United Nations through UNESCO launched a poem writing contest promoting peace where the poem chosen will be translated into a song by the famous Roger Whittaker. It was only Lea Salonga who was chosen to interpret the song.
I remember being in CCP one of the chorale groups nationwide invited to sing for Pope John Paul II back in the early 80's. We sang this songs. Yes this little girl with an angelic little voice was the only one in the spotlight singing this song majestically and the rest of us just humming ang singing the chorus part. Who would have known back then that this girl will be famous someday, sing internationally and bring great pride to her country. I'm just so glad that I was there at that moment.
The song here was sung by Lea Salonga when she was just 10 years old (I think). But she's now in her 30's and is a broadway performer. She's the original star of London's Miss Saigon. You can search her here in Youtube if you'd like to know or hear more about her.
I work for the government...and I would honestly say I've been straight. I watch all my sister's kids and those of my friends, and feel so ashamed of how things are turning out for them....the kind of world we made for them. With the kind of officials we have, what is in store for these tykes?
thank you darlingabbie.. my 5 year old daughter likes this song very much and keeps watching this video trying to learn it. thank you for posting this video, it is an inspiration to her & myself as well. God bless you.
This song is still much in tune with whats happening in the world, about peace and security and taking care on Mother earth. Also, this was the winning poem on a contest sponsored by UNICEF which was won by a Filipina elementary student and was set to music by internationally known artist Roger Whittacker. GAWD those where the days..AHEM
i remember when i used to sing this song when i joined the miss united nations way back in grade school! i also remember when i got the 2nd place! hahahah! love this song!
I miss this song so much!.. I been searching this song for a long long time. Many thanks to you darlingabbie for sharing this song. I remember i was in high school when it was a hits on our radio stations in Philippines. The first song's title is "I Am But a Small Voice." You can find the lyrics posted here.
The second song's title is "Tagumpay" (it means "victory"). You can try browsing for the lyrics through google.
