Tori Amos' music is ALL derivative too.

She's done nothing that hasn't already been done 20 years ago and a hundred times better by Joni Mitchell.

Tori just re-hashes what has been done before but Polly innovates, and with every record breaks new ground and takes risks artistically.

That's the difference between the two, and that's why ten-a-penny singer songwriters like Tori Amos will never be in the same league as artists like Polly.

Yes, because Joni Mitchell has created anything remotely similar to Caught A Lite Sneeze, Blood Roses, Suede, Lust, or any of Tori's masterful crafts.

She was accepted to Peabody conservatory at 5, was top 30 pianists in the entire world, and has managed to compose ten albums and tackle a musical.

I would say the sheer creative brilliance of Tori is epic, pure supernova juice. I won't say she's better than PJ or anyone though, because I refuse to subscribe to such dismissive hierarchies.
