  • Such an inspiring video. Blind dogs are so sweet, I would love to teach one agility some day

  • What a wonderful pup Stevie is! You are each other's blessing.

My rescued Pomeranian is blind. She's the best behaved and obedient, dearest dog I've ever had. Most times I forget that she cannot see.

  • Esto es amor. ^ - ^

  • Excellent both of Stevie and you!! Well done! My dog Nono is blind. I enjoy training with her same as you. She passed the obedience training test (D.I.N.G.O. Master Handler Test) like Stevie. I feel that dog has unlimited possibilities!

  • i just rescued a born blind beagle lab mix along with her sister and they are doing so great!! the only thing im worried about is walking stairs with him, i just carry him down and up the stairs

  • poor dog, hes beautiful!! my 4 yr. old, 40 lb. Brittany spaniel got 1st place in his last obedience trial. he did excellent!!

  • Lovely! A wonderful dog and great owners too. thanks for posting!

  • Thank-you. this touched my heart. My bernese montain dog is blind too... Shes from a puppy mill. I managed to make her a happy, therapy dog. :)

  • oh wow good for u!!! never get pups from store or pup mill, specially a bernese, must get from a reputable breeder

  • Great dog and great trainer/owner! <3

  • What a cutie!

  • What a beautiful baby! Made me cry. LOL

  • Stevie is awesome!

  • Thanks so much for posting this...I have a beautiful Shiba Inu who has gone blind in the last year due to cataracts. She does wonderful in the house! I wonder how blind dogs manage so well??? Again, thanks, this is an inspiration!

  • It is good for dogs to work - not least when they are blind.

When I returned from Mozambique after 5 months my god was overweight and apathetic. Have look yourself.I have posted four videos and will do another one next. Tom

  • myy favourite berness mountian dog

  • so cute and smart~!!!

  • Good dog! My dog went blind later in life, but she runs around, plays, loves everyone, and you can't even tell she is blind... well just don't change the furniture. :)

Thanks for posting this great video, your dog is very beautiful.

  • Wonderful - I teared up a bit, too :)

  • We have two blind dogs. I wouldn't trade them for anything else. They get around the house and farm so well that most people can't believe they're blind.

  • Good lookin dog!

  • awesome dog!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Hello there.. I was looking to see if there was any videos regairding ONH ( Optic Nerve Hypoplasia ) and came across your wonderful dog!

My daughter has ONH as well and I find it rather intresting that and animal has the same condtion as my child.. as it is soooo very rare!

I also have a video up on her about her " Mackayla's Fight for Sight "

I wish you all the very best!!!

  • I watched your video and posted a comment there. Just wanted to reply here as well. Your daughter is an amazing little girl. I would love to bring him to visit her someday.

  • That would be amazing to see them together!

We live in London Ontario, where abouts are you going when you come to Canada?

    How old is Stevie?

  • his cross eyes are so kyoot!

  • OK...you are the coolest person I know. There's a special place in heaven for people like you....

  • Yeah, that brings a tear to the eye, no question. Kudos to you and Stevie, what a wonderful pair you make!

  • Okay, I cried. But you can't prove it. :P

  • Absolutely incredible. Jake, my 2yr old Boston Terrier lost his eyesight suddenly this weekend and from my research there's no reason he can't live a happy active life. Thanks to you and Stevie, I don't feel like we have to give up on agility. Again, thanks Stevie and keep showing everyone blind dogs are just as good, if not better than sighted dogs.

  • I had to watch this twice as I just couldn't focus for tears. Stevie is fantastic!

  • Thanks for letting people know just how wonderful blind dogs are!!!!

    :)

  • hey thanks for answering! It's great what you're doing. It's one of those things were you see a dog handler team like you guys and it makes me wonder what the rest of us are doing out there. You guys have the epitamy -sp- of teamowork.

  • I have to ask,

are the judges a bit more lenient with scoring because Stevie is blind and he has to do things differently then a dog able to see?

I noticed that he nudges you a bit, almost like he is making sure of his posistion in relation to you. They would take off for the average dog doing that. I wouldn't take off if i was the judge

  • HI thanks for asking.Yes Stevie is given some exceptions to level the playing field. A sighted dog gets a verbal and a signal for "stay", Stevie gets a verbal and a light touch on the nose. I don't know if the judges take off anything when he bumps me. I think some don't and some do. His scores are all over the map so the bumping may be one thing that gets us. Some judges forget he's the blind dog and dock me for talking. :) If he does his best I'm happy regardless of the score.

  • I love seeing disabled dogs and handlers competing. I show dogs and technically I'm legally blind so I kinda know where you are coming from with Stevie.

It's absolutely wonderful that you are doing shows with him.

    They're addicting aren't they?

  • Wow! You and Stevie are lucky to have found one another. Good job

  • Wow Stevie is such a great example for me! I have a little shih-tzu that was born blind, she is now 1 year old. Congratulations for your work!

  • Just think this is amazing. Way to go!

  • positively wonderful!

  • This proves that dogs have unconditional love for their owner regardless of being able to see them or not. Michael Vick and his cohorts should die a painful death.

  • I agree, my little pitt mix I have, Harry, is the most loving little guy. I cannot imagine training him to hurt anything.

  • this made me cry...! I love Stevie !

    just wonderful.

  • He's a beautiful dog, he really is. its great to see someone taking the time to train and love a dog with that condition, alot of people wouldn't.

  • absolutely heartwarming

  • its nice to see someone actually working so damn hard with a blind pet when so many are willing to abandon it, nicely done

  • What a wonderful video of a remarkable berner and people. A friend forwarded to me and I have watched over and over and it brings tears to my eyes. Thanks!

  • Stevie is a remarkable Dog. A link to this video was posted at a Pet website i frequent. You are doing such a wonderful job. I had tears in my eyes watching.

    Michael

  • That video made me admire you guys and that very special dog Stevie. Thanks for sharing. Now I now that such things are possible. Hugs and kisses.. *Close to tears*

  • That made me cry! Thats so amazing. Great job! =]

  • Brought tears to my eyes. Amazing job, both of you. :)

  • Congratulations to both you and Stevie! Thanks for sharing such a great video!

  • Wonderful, and good job! Right now I'm crying =) Beautiful dog Stevie!!

  • Wonderful job Stevie!! You are amazing!!

  • A very very special dog...just wonderful.

  • I can't believe that our little Stevie is all grown up! He was such a little boy at the '05 Nationals when I met him. You've done such a great job with this special boy and it's SO clear you have a fantastic relationship. I expect to hear more and more great things about "our" Stevie (as he truly belongs to the entire Bernerworld!)
