He's not the greatest of all time by any means, but he is definitely under rated. There is no one true metal master writer, ,many bands have their moments in time.

I think he was probably the greatest because of his influence. What makes him the greatest is how undercredited he is with such awesome material. There are several bands out their (wont name names) that get more credit than they deserve. Death singlehandedly created a unique death metal genre. IMO, Death Metal TODAY sucks. Chuck had a better vision on what Death Metal was supposed to be and the artists of Death Metal today ruined that vision.
