  • he did this song the best

  • its about a race in Lewiston, Id

  • @Natedogqwe1 Idaho sucks dude

  • no wonder my dad was a big rodger miller fan. he recently broke out a bunch of vintage pictures of liqour cars his dad built for locals looking to make a fast buck runnin booze into dry counties. crazy mechanical combinations that hauled ass. im thinking when nascar legend junior johson said the fastest car he ever drove was a liquor car, he wasnt bull shitn.in one picture there was a warehouse full of federal siezed cars turns out grandpa built most of em. gooooooo capitalism.....

  • I heard Asleep at the Wheel sing this, but I had never heard Roger Miller sing it.

  • Wow, the guitar player can't keep up...

  • For real this is some great old music

  • 5 dislikes by people who like justin bieber an shit like that..

  • @TheBubbles9 I hate when people say ignorant things like this. There are actually some songs that I like by Justin Bieber, and I wouldn't even think about clicking the dislike button. Just because you don't like certain music doesn't make it shit. Seems like you have a lot to learn.........

  • @MsBirdTurd

I'm ignorant and have a lot to learn because I think your flavor of the week, generic pop music crowd just might be the first to dislike a classic rock/country song?

it's youtube, yeah the odds I'm right are pretty good...

as for not liking a certain music genre that the industry crams down the worlds throat and calls popular music does make it shit in my book. after all, this comment was just "my opinion"

  • @TheBubbles9 "flavor of the week," are we at a restaurant now?

It's youtube. There are more choices than just this kind of music and the "certain music genre that the industry crams down the worlds throat and calls popular music." :)

  • @TheBubbles9 Agreed. That punk wouldn't have been fit to shine Roger Miller's shoes.

  • @TheBubbles9 now its 11 poeple

  • @85johnful That makes 11 people who haven't felt the joy of a Hot Rod Lincoln

  • i guess this is the origional song.this was on the soundtrack to the Beverly Hillbilly's movie.

  • 12 cylinders and 4.11 gears? damm!

no wonder they was passing cars like they wuz standing still.

  • cody's version is WAY better!!!

  • This is good but charlie ryan did it best.

  • Yeah!

  • My kind of song. Great job, Roger.

    Thanks for playing.

  • remember listening to this as a kid, always liked it!!!

  • @angel84889 What do you mean with what?

  • my grandfather likes it

  • The voice is surely Roger Miller, but is that Danny Gatton on guitar?

  • Line for line ,word for word , the ultimate in southern cooool !

  • I remember this song, but never heard it by Roger before.

  • AND -- This version is true to the original Charlie Ryan version. As in "Got twelve cylinders, uses'em all" - it was a V-12 Lincoln motor, a 396 cu in , HUGE for the day.

    Another one for RM, bless'em.

  • wuhaaaa

  • I owned a 1986 Lincoln Mark VII, and that old bastard could haul. 5.0 V8 with 225hp.

My friends used to always say "you're gonna drive me to drinkin'" because I used to gun it all the time and scare the shit outta them

  • I have been looking for this song, thanks for posting

  • I used to drive a 19 foot '78 Lincoln. they dont make them that sweet anymore.

  • Now instead of racing cool, custom Fords and Mercurys, the stupid kids race their dumbass Hondas and Mistubishis and they think they are the shit.

  • @presidentbren as someone who owns a Honda Im pissed off i cant afford a nice Chevy or Ford, its all about American Muscle, but its stupid people drive their civics pimp them out and they think thats what racing is about. your correct.

  • I DIDN'T KNOW ROGER DID THIS SONG. GREAT JOB

  • my uncle used to love me but she died

  • this was my personal theme song for years...lincoln w. from oregon

  • larry groce did a nice version also

  • 12 cylinders? 8 is correct.

  • @utube4gar It was actually 12 cylinders. Charlie Ryan who wrote this song and did the original version tells the story behind it. If I remember correctly he bought himself a brand new lincoln right after he got out of the military and that is the car he is referencing in the song. It had 12 cylinders, not 8. The 8 cylinders came from Commander Cody and his Lost Airmen 30 something years later.

  • @flojodiablo the johnny bond version (same year as this) has 8, i think that's where the 8 vs 12 comes from.

  • I've hit 80 a couple of times in my old ford truck, feels just like this song says it does.

  • My lincon will haul major fucking ass 165 as fast as I had her up to so far catch me if u can

  • @brandonwaite1 My car can beat your car

  • george jones white lighting?

  • sounds like he's reading the lyrics. the band rocks but no soul in the vox. check out johnny bond or commander cody's version. dont get me wrong.... i love roger miller's stuff!

  • he did not make the song

  • I have never heard a bad Roger Miller song,The man was ahead of his time and left us way too soon

  • when did he make this cover performance ???

  • Great Song!

  • Still the best version of this song.

  • i love this song

  • I like the V12 better than the V8 verison.

  • oldyuma..i used to love eatin chvy crap like u

    lol 460 4bbl lol u would have cried at 140 mph...lmao

  • one of my faveiorte song

  • This is the best version of this song IMO

  • I had a 56'Chrysler with a 331 c.i./4bbl..

    Push button 2 speed........

Could not get low on gas...25 gallons got me

    to........Riverside....

  • That was one of the early Rockabilly versions of that tune. Roger Miller's version came out about the same year as Johnny Bond's did, in 1960. Charlie Ryan did the original version just a few years before that. Commander Cody did a version of that tune many years later, in the early 70's, and doesn't sound anything nearly like those three old Rockabilly versions did.

  • @tbear4pa Thanks for the info.

  • i actually care about apostrophes

  • @downloadscc

    and your point is?

  • @downloadscc I LIKE CAPS

  • @downloadscc So do I.

  • who cares about apostrophes?...

  • An apostrophe alone can never indicate plural. It's ONLY used for ownership or abbreviation. You would say, "there are three MDs in the room", & "the MD's bag has been opened". For plural, you would say, "the three MDs' bags have arrived". You should never say "there are three MD's in the room".

When referring to a decade, "the 1980s" is correct; "the 1980's" could only be used to refer to something in a particular year (1980's biggest hit). For a decade's ownership, you'd say "the 80s'".

  • wow

  • Thank you, indeed, "Mubirshu," for your cogent elucidation and perspicacious illumination of the elegant mystery of the ever-relevant apostrophe.

Can we hope now for an explication that will lead us out of the dark concerning of the enigma of the quotation mark?

    .

  • Comment removed

  • Actually, it shouldn't be used even then. For example, "1990s" is correct, not "1990's", though you might see either in print.

  • You're not English either, are you? We spell it with a 'c'.

  • I know, I know - little tinker aren't I? But it worked, you've failed to capitalise 'Ford'! No offence meant - just a quick lesson in the old saying' Let he who is without sin......etc, etc. . :-)

  • if it ain't a chevy, it is ain't worth s***

  • If it were being referred to as of being 'Fords' as in, belonging to Henry Ford, then it WOULD have an apostrophe, wouldn't it? :-) As in, 'One's of Ford's vehicles'.

  • I like charlie daniels version way better

  • Hate to say this, but it COULD have an apostrophe - depends on the inflection put on the word 'Ford'(s) - but yes, it would still be a grammatical error! :-)

  • I love this song

    Its Awsome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • FORD'S SUCK !!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • you suck you stupid shit

  • I used to have a1930 5 window Model A Ford which I got a personalized license plate entitled ROCK , then i bought a 1957 chevrolet convertible that I got a personalized license plate entitled Roll.

I would park them side by side at car shows and people could not believe it.

  • Roger Miller is my #1 hero, and I know Commander Cody - somehow, with some shame, I've never heard of this recording.

  • loved it

  • nice song! gets stuck in your head fast!

  • lolz these aint the first singers of hot rod lincoln the dude who orignal sings is johhny bonds he made this song in 1960

  • The Author of this song, Charlie Ryan, wrote it in 1950, recorded it in 55 and released it in 57. His 'ORIGINAL' version is by far the best although there have been a couple others who have done it all right. Johnny Bonds 'may' have been the 2nd person to record it. Commander Cody did a hack job on it and I've disliked the jerk ever since I heard what he did to it the first time.

  • I thought I was the only one that didn't like the Commander Cody's version as I call it":Crapola". Roger's version is good, as is Johnny Bond's, but Charlie Ryan's is the best.

  • Just so you know Charlie Ryan is still alive and the real hot rod Lincon is sill around, V12 Lincon and all ! This song was a real true story.

  • They have him listed as passing in Feb. 2008.

  • Passing what?

  • 12 cylinders...old Lincoln Flathead. Sucked gas - hauled ass!

  • elak låt, grymt bra låt!! hänger´u me eller?? hahaha

  • Ok, då förstår jag, OCH håller med! :)

  • kramen das frankenshliten mas dieten flan kram dragen flat

  • elak låt!

  • Jaha?

  • Never knew this was a Roger Miller song - always heard the version by Commander Cody and the Lost Planet Airmen. Thanks for posting.

  • Thanks! :)

  • @niefmer lot of ppl song this song it sounds better when steve earl song it

  • @niefmer Actually, the original is by Charlie Ryan

  • @niefmer It's not a Roger Miller song.

Quoting from Wikipedia: "Hot Rod Lincoln was written by Charlie Ryan and W. S. Stevenson. "

"Hot Rod Lincoln" is an "answer song" to a song called "Hot Rod Lincoln" - the opening lines about "You heard the story of the hot rod race, when the Fords and the Lincolns was settin' the pace..." refer to that song.

  • @niefmer Jim Varney also has a version he recorded for the Beverly Hillbillies ..check it out, I like his version, best, personally.

  • @niefmer ..... actually it Isn't a Roger Miller song Hot Rod Lincoln was written by Charlie Ryan (who had also recorded a version of Hot Rod Race) and W. S. Stevenson. Roger Miller covered it pretty damn good though and Commender Cody had the biggest hit.

  • awsome song ive been lookin for this song for a while thankyee fur postin

  • thank you for posting. A classic, and should be getting more recognition/appreciation.

  • again 5 stars! very nice! You´re great
