The black guy he was teaching was Jessy or Jessie Glover one of his first students i use to watch kung fu theater one of the baddest movies they showed was the flying guilatin or how ever you spell it,shoguns assasin is a good movie to,one of the closset people i ever saw to looking,acting and fighting like Bruce is dragon lee,Bruce Li was good to but dragon Li looked alot more like Bruce.

I'm not referring to JKD or the book, I'm saying the Chinese actors are not following the book properly. That is "not" how Bruce Lee taught the moves in the book. Yes I know that is before JKD.

ya'll are dumb all application that bruce lee did was possible in real life its that humans need to understand the concepts in real life situations for example a person has to have perfected the way of evasion like a boxer do and need to keep all senses open when in a fight or flight situation..

The guys in the demo are not doing the techniques in the proper way. I should say its not wrong generally speaking, but not the way Lee taught, or advised his teachers to teach them. Not even the way he described them in the book.

bruce lee NEVER tried to remove trapping, or even actd like it didn't work...the trap is a quintessential part of JKD as bruce invented it, but he took a more kenpo-style approach, which is that you intercept with a strike, as opposed to trying to trap and coutertrap. basically, the same motions you trap with can be used to strike someone...but trapping is essential to JKD...

i believe if one wishes to learn jeet kune do you would be better off studying many types of martial arts as did bruce lee and find your own way. the martial journey is a personal one. in this way the artist with the most drive and an open mind is the victor not the style which he uses.

The reason bruce left gung fu behind, is because it doesnt work for real. Those kind of defence works only if you know what the opponent will do, and when he is doing it slow, But full speed and power, you cant trapp anything.

You can trap.......but the idea was that Bruce wished to set down a martial art, a sort of philosophy, that will lead to no restrictions, and the most direct path to surviving an altercation.
