  • This song bombards my senses with Nostalgia, of a place i do not know and a time i do not remember.

  • stunning photos and great music!

    well done :)

  • Whenever I hear this song, I am reminded particularly of Ulrich Schnauss's "Far Away Trains Passing By". Not the song, but the music. Though, I guess it really is more of the music and less of the song. But only sometimes.

  • amazing.

  • I'm just so glad that everyone who listens to Ulrich music has the same feelings as I do. It transposes you into another world ....a better one. It's nice to hear these amazing tracks while you are studying, working, walking, fall asleep, looking at the sky, when you wake up, driving, when you are sad or sick (it gives you hope) and especially when you ride your bike. It feeds the soul with optimism and hope. This is how heaven sounds like! So sad it's underrated.

  • @MihaiBB not underrated... its just less known... everyone who knows and hears it, rates it above anything else they have heard :)

  • @MihaiBB - ryan farish - clouds of heaven ....... has the same infliction of emotions and feelings!

  • trop cool cette zik, la vie est belle :)

  • Che musica spettacolare...

  • you know , there is so many world that you need to see. ulrich is a master and i am just a light.... please expore yourself ... that why we are here........

  • this song could save someone's life.

  • @skyvorpal it did.

  • what camera did you use? :O

  • @fatoomlovescake

    I used a Canon Powershot G3 (which I don't have anymore) and a Nikon D50.

  • @DominicRuit how did you make your pictures look like that? ;O they look amazing! kudos to you.

  • @fatoomlovescake Thanks!

I used Windows Movie Maker to make the photo's look like in this movie :-)

  • if everyone listened to this music the world would be a better place.

  • Ma quanto e bella questa musica............

  • Thanks! Very nice :), believe that Jerome Froese (Edgar´s son -original member of Tangerine Dream- ) had made some tracks with Ulrich.

  • such a great piece of music ...takes me to some other world

  • lol nice, i live here and love Ulrich's music

  • I recently bought the two "Chilled" albums by the Ministry of Sound and thought they were brilliant, they do exactly what they say on the box, but then I bought "Far Away Trains Passing By" and "A Strangely Isolated Place", and now I know the real meaning of being chilled. Positively sublime. Mr. Schnauss takes it all to a whole new level, and this track is so damn beautiful...

  • Great pics dude, you should be proud

  • @comfy1

    Thanks a lot :-D

  • i studied here :)

  • La musique et les images.......sublime.

  • Bon Will qui commente du Ulrich Schnauss!! :P

    Great music by Great musician

  • @drumhans

    Oh yeah!

  • awesome.....i've got a little sample of mine at minicied closed if you wanna listen another melo tune.

  • words are definately not necessary for amazing music

  • Ulrich's the best! one of my favourites.

  • excellent! reminds me of isis 'altered course'

  • this makes me cry, because of the simplest and purest feelings of love.

I can cry over dead pets because of this track because the purity of emotion is so great, emotion-wise it adresses everything that was or is good in one's life. unbiased of what emotion fits best in one's existance. We rely the most on the emotions that guarantee success in our life. Ulrich's tracks adresses the most modest and untouched feelings from one's surrounding world a human could have.

  • The way people create socially unnecessary and unbeneficial barriers between themselves and the world they could fully embrace in love gets tackled by tracks of Ulrich Schnauss. That is art in my opinion. For many full loving co-existance is a lie but Ulrich just offers it by audio, that is art, only special people can offer that.

  • well put

  • if you realized how few people would appreciate this song or understand what you just wrote, then you would really cry

  • I love you.

  • @Doozy:

    I love you too man.

  • @Vannius6 & @ Doozy i love you both man

  • just awesome

  • it´s innocence in musical form.

  • Beautyiful monochrome photgraphy there,, haunting moving emotional content, very very resonant,,, as for Ulrich, well what more can you expect from this man, again another subtle slice of perfection.

  • FUCKN absolutly wicked phaaaaat tune relxed chillled good beats good evrythin i like it man i like it

  • non ho parole...

  • awesome...travelling far away!!congratulations urlich!

  • why didnt i get to this before. this reminds me of when i used to hold someone special, watching the world go by without a care. i still miss her. if i did find this sooner then now this would've been my song for her. good times. thanks ulrich for bringing those days back.

  • @TheAaron87 ur comment is so beautiful.. thank you

  • @TheAaron87 Its a slightly uneasy embrace though, something too uncertain about all the little melodies trickling around the edges, fading... but it makes you appreciate it all the more. Theres a kind of longing even when you are together, that can't be fulfilled... but it doesn't matter... enjoy!

  • aahh late at night laying back and listening to this... is blissful

  • Beautiful and congrats for the pictures

  • Thanks :-)

  • So beautiful song, reminds me summer...

  • very nice track. absolutly favorite...

  • This is very powerful stuff. Love it!

  • Trainspotting....

  • Well Christian Kleine is a bit different. I recommend Kritzel by Christian Kleine, after a massive doze of Ulrich Schnauss. :)

Oh the title of this song is "...Passing by" . The cd title is "Far away trains passing by". As it happens in life sometimes, i'm a proud owner of this cd. :)

  • Don't forget to check Christian Kleine too. I feel kinda sad for him 'cause his labelmate Ull seems to get all the attention... "Beyond Repair" is a great rec. as well!

  • "I have always loved music that has both elements: melancholy and sadness as a description of the current situation you are in, but at the same time a hopeful, utopian element that reminds you of the possibility of a different life." ----- wow, that is exactly how Ulrich's music makes me feel. which i why i can't stop listening to it.

  • what is this song called though?

    far away trains passing by?

it was in elizabethtown and im addicted, but cant find this song anywhere! help?

  • Song is called Far away trains passing by.

It has the same title as the album.

  • Just a heads up, this song is called "Passing by" Track 3 on disc 1 of "Far away trains passing by" =)

  • Beautiful...

I may have missed it said somewherte though but:

This sounds so much like a remix of "With or without you" by U2.

Its uncanny, but I love that song too, its great!

  • I just discovered Ulrich through Pandora...i must say he has opened another world for me. For music to convey such feeling and emotion without words/lyrics/singing is amazing. This brings nothing but fond memories of past relationships and the joy that came with it. This could be the soundtrack to my life.

  • Absolutely superb track. Nice photo montage to accompany too Dominic. Thanks !

  • Fantastic

  • Great music.......

It's in my soul....it's the sound of freedom.........

It's the sound of Ulrich Schnauss

  • So glad to see others appreciate this act of artistic genius. I call this one "Sheet Metal Shuffle."

  • I have always loved music that has both elements: melancholy and sadness as a description of the current situation you are in, but at the same time a hopeful, utopian element that reminds you of the possibility of a different life." According to wikipedia Ulrich said this in an interview and that is exactly how I feel. Absolute magic !!!

  • God bless the day i discovered this kind of music. I've had plenty of nights where i got so caught up with this music it was 4 - 5am before i knew it. When i drift off on this music i enter a world where everything is right and where everybody is happy. Not just ok but genuinely happy.

  • you're description, for me, is spot on. This music also makes me really really happy!

Some people may not like it, but one thing is sure: production wise this is incredible; so much detail and attention has gone in fine tuning his music!

I let a friend of mine who produces IDM himself listen to Ulrichs' music and he never heard of him before. The guy is friggin hard to please but agreed this was among the better stuff he had heard himself :)

  • Nice ;),

I can imagine it's hard to disagree Ulrich's work is genius. Imo, i can't even say if it's incredible production-wise: the music is just fantastic and it's actually hard to believe the feeling it gives has been tuned: It just feels so natural!

I hope your friend is able to reach Ulrich's level. Maybe you should post some tracks.

This genre offers just a few artists, so i guess a lot of us would like n try some new tunes out.

Ty for the positive comment, cya dude ;).

  • Genius for sure. He manages to fill every frequency range at all times. It's audio stimulus. His synth sounds are absolutely awesome and so ethereal and sympathetic. I could go on; but who needs to ? All you have to do is listen.

  • bravo to you for introducing your friend to Ulrich, I've been a huge fan since the beginning...

  • Excellent song.

  • Awesome song :D

  • Call me weird, but this song seems like the ambient love-child of New Order and the Cocteau Twins. It seems familiar, but I can't put my finger on it. Very Nice!!!

  • I think you're right, definitely a New Order under tone....

  • goood !!!

  • Excellent.. Nice work.. *****

  • Thanks!

  • which city is this?

  • The city is called Dordrecht.

    It's in the video discription.

  • Lovely

  • im totally chillin in it..

  • This is the favorite track of my Girlfried.

    :-)

  • Always makes me sad - like my loved on is leaving me forever :(

Amazing how a piece of music can move one :)

  • lol i totally agree. its like "they are gone and you cant do anything about it" thats how i feel. sad but almost motivational?

  • Beautiful picture of the train mate. Im such a geek in that respect!

  • Thanks!

  • one of the best songs I've ever heard! The music is unbelievable...When you hear it is like someone is drawing pictures in front of you. I heard it for the 1st time in the film "Elizabethtown" and I think this is the top reason why I love this movie so much.

I would like to know more about this group.

Thanks for sharing this with everyone

  • ....When you hear it is like someone is drawing pictures in front of you...

Omg. When I'm hearing this song I feel the same. I didin't think that there are people who feel the same.

    Good luck.:)

  • the whole album is like this :)

best music i´ve ever heard... and i love it!

  • just dreaming and dreaming...I am far away

  • .... poetry of sound... I love it..!!

  • epic !

  • Anyone else think this sounds like a slower, modified version of Schnauss' "As if you've never been away" ?

Still amazing, though. great chill out.

  • This is really lovely. Have a look at addybobble for some more ulrich stuff.

  • What a nice discovery! I used to write down ambient music titles from Canadian satellite radio (Galaxy), going through list looking youtube. Nice!

I'm currently looking for something like this. A slideshow program that could offer a bit more than just fading effects.

  • Okay, nevermind, I just watched it til the end.

    Thanks (:

  • sztem is atom..jeeee

  • this track fuckin owns :)

  • Good video. The tune is also nice when it truly takes off, as it sounds kinda nostalgic and bittersweet.

  • bittersweet. Nice.

  • I know...its is indeed so nice. And the images in this video go hand-in-hand with the music
