  • Great update mate! (loved u censoring 'titties on the back' but left the swearing in. ha)

  • Comment removed

  • Nine 9/12 Weeks (1986) Was Relassed In The US By Turner Entertainment Co. And In International PSO Relassed Nine 9/12 Weeks (1986)

  • I got the Grindhouse set yesterday, may have been the only one in Tamworth too

  • Hey, so when do I get to come over and watch these? LOL. I'm so damned jealous.

  • Was "Slaughterhouse" banned in Queensland?!?

  • @pandaeyes42

Nothing on the cover indicating a ban in Queensland surprisingly. It would have been a nasty piece of work for those tender souls.

  • @AussieRoadshow

Teenage years. Totally loved my horror films. It it had a 'banned in Queensland' sticker on it, it was a must see!

You should do a 'banned in Queensland' special!

  • @pandaeyes42

I did exact same thing! Banned in QLD was a must rent, and my mum got them all for me. Slugs, Faceless, The Dead Pit, Day of the Dead, Near Dark, Rocktober Blood, Re-animator, the list goes on. I would do a special vid if only I had more of those tapes.

  • @AussieRoadshow

It would be cool to tell viewers about what gorehounds like us experienced back in the 80's when Queensland especially was pretty much a police state under Biejelkie-Peterson.

  • Does the Grindhouse pack include the trailers from the theater release?

  • @abillioneyes

Yes it is the complete version and is exactly the same as the overseas releases, but in much better packaging, though I'm biassed being an Aussie :)

  • Another great video, Daz. THE VIDEO DIDN'T TURN UP ON MY SUBS THINGY! :@

If I had a blu-ray player, I'd pick up that nice edition of the Grindhouse set, but I have the 4 disc canister version. Love it. :D

I have an old shitty release of Nightmare under Nightmares in a Damaged Brain and I couldn't get into it. I tried watching through it 2 times, but I really couldn't get into it.

Love when you go through the boxes of tapes. So many cool ones.

    Another mad video, Daz. :D

  • @m0t0psych0

Hey thanks Mitch! I have the same problem with vids not appearing in sub lists, it's a shit! Nightmare is an acquired taste, I really like it, particularly the sleazy feel about it, and the awesome violence. That last scene is a classic.

Blu ray of Grindhouse is beyond awesome. The sound is clear and full and it's the 3 hour epic, plus that packaging is beautiful. Love it so much.

More boxes to come, next is Village Roadshow tapes from the mid 80s.

  • rated as per usual great update

  • awesome grindhouse edition!!! nightmare is pretty good, not that great thou, i loved that it had the scratches and grains in the print.slaughterhouse is a pretty good cheesy 80s flick. i want to see spookies, ive heard about that one quite a few times in other peoples updates.ive never seen night life but i remember one day i was at the dentist and the dentists assistant recommended it to me lol the gate is awesome, i was going to buy camerons closet one day but didnt

  • @plan9ofthelivingdead

Nightlife is low budget trash but is a good title to try and track down, I think you can only get it on VHS tape or DVD rips. The trailer is on Youtube. You probably saw the Spookies trailer, one that is so bad it's cool in an 80s way, in a Deadtime Stories kinda way, which I really liked too. I love 80s horror, before CGI came along, I grew up with all that sort of stuff. Hell I would even prefer to watch House 2 instead of all the remake crap coming out now :)

  • can you PM me the link to where you got that grindhouse set please?

    thanks friend

  • my favourite code red dvd is madman :) i remember watching it on vhs when i was young and loved it ever since

  • @lastalot

Good thing you nominated a release Dom! I'm doing the draw soon, wheeee!

  • Excellent update. That Grindhouse release is amazing. My favorite Code Red release is Rituals. Only because it's the only one I have. But I love the movie.

  • @MrRamone420

Good luck in the Nightmare draw buddy. I love the Grindhouse release boxset. We Aussies think it's the best release of it anywhere but we are a bit one eyed lol.

  • Great vhs pick ups, I am still yet to see slaughterhouse but it looks very cool. Great competition going, my favourite blue underground release ever has to be the blind dead collection coffin set they did, I absolutely loved that release.

  • Hey I'm back front he dead and will be returning to making more videos soon, I had went away for a while and pretty much cut off from everyone (for personal reasons) but now I'm back. Brilliant grind house release absolutely amazing, I already have the us blu ray but I will def get the aussie one. Ah nightmare I still need to get that title soon, I've never seen it but heard so much hype.

  • @ausvideocollection

Hey John, nice to hear you're back! Nothing wrong with taking a break from YT and all. Look forward to new vids. I held off in the US Grindhouse in anticipation of a bumper local release and boy am I glad I did :) It is an absolutely awesome edition from Village roadshow, best in the world (I'm biased). Slaughterhouse is fantastic, almost Troma like and reasonably nasty. At 85 minutes, it doesn't over stay its welcome. Good luck mate, you might get Nightmare for free!

  • City of the living dead is the blue underground I watch a few times a year. For some reason its so over the top it cracks me up every time. I remember those electric blue videos when I rented my 1st video rec from radio rentals in the early 80's.

  • @jessieboyz

I swear some of those Italian zombie and horror flicks never age! I watch The Beyond at least once per year, and will even put the old VHS tape on for nostalgia reasons. Well good luck in teh draw, I'm doing it today.

  • @SempiternalDamnation

It's because of the flapping heads of the Christian lobby who would be strongly opposed to any loosening of the ratings. They anger and infuriate me. They are why the games R18+ took 9-years of effort to finally come into force.

  • @SempiternalDamnation

Poor New Zealand, they should just modernise the ratings. And I cannot see why we should not have the R18+ for TV, on say after 10:30pm if that's what it takes.

  • @SempiternalDamnation

Believe me they were bad days of TV censorshit. Sometimes Channel 9 would put a written and voice over warning prior to the movie that said "This is an adults only movie. Certain scenes and language may offend some viewers". Cobra, The Running Man, Risky Business, Private School, and Half Moon Street had the warning from memory. They were so over zealous! Believe it or not, New Zealand still uses the old G, PGR and AO television ratings.

  • @SempiternalDamnation

Yeah Ninew 1/2 Weeks is hit and miss with some folks. For me it brings back good memories of the mid 80s watching VHS tapes on hot summer nights. It was a big deal to go to the video store back then lol. I remember when it was on TV in an "AO modified TV version" format, and it was so cut to shit that it angered me!

Anyway your name goes into my Nightmare draw, so good luck on that one :)

  • As always I just love all of your videos.I love old hard to find vhs.My favorite Blue Underground is Eugenie the story of her journey into perverson.

  • @nataliedental

Ah yes I got Eugenie too, but on the Umbrella release which is exactly the same as the BU one. Good luck in the Nightmare draw :)

  • My favorite Blue Underground release has to be Django. Love me some spaghetti westerns!

  • @CinemaRaiders

I forgot about how cool Django is!! I don't usually like Westerns, except the spaghetti variety. Well good luck in the draw.

  • Got the Canister version of Grindhouse, now I gotta grab this one...Roadshow have done a damn fine job on that one...good pickup!

As for my favourite Code Red/Blue Underground release...gotta be Emanuelle in America...can't beat nubile young ladies getting around starkers...admittedly...

  • @bigdanisstillalive

Even though it costs $40 for the set at JB, it is worth it, considering that the separate blu rays are about $16. I love everything about the release and cannot wait to sit through the 3 hour epic tomorrow afternoon after work :)

Well you're in the Nightmare draw, so good luck.

  • I love your videos, there are so many Code Red and Blue Underground releases I like, but seeing all the awesome shit that's on the Nightmare release (one of my favourite b grade horror's of the 80's). I gotta say that looks like the best and easily my favourite film they have released so far.

  • @peppadog7

Code Red did a pretty good job with the edition. Even though they obviously couldn't afford to do a total digital restoration, I don't mind because the scratchy print adds to the grindhouse feel of the movie. It is a definite recommend and a lot of collectors on YT are saying it is a must get anyway :)

  • Nice Grindhouse set!!

I still gotta get that Nightmare dvd. I know that one will go OOP soon and then jump in price. Electric Blue!! I wish those would get released on dvd.

Spookies! Gotta say, I think I like our vhs cover way better! Which is weird cause foreign covers are usually the cooler looking covers. Nitelife is great. Another movie I wish would come out on dvd.

OHHHH, love those metallic shiny covers!! All great movies, too!

Hmm, fav Blue Underground - MANIAC!! Awesome vid, Darron! :)

  • @MADPUPPETDETH

I did an image search on US cover of Spookies and you're right, it is vastly better! The only good thing is the pics on the back of ours. I want Electric Blue backlog on DVD too!!! But the copyright owner is a mystery cos Scripglow are long out of business. There's a market for them I am sure. The music I added has been viewed over 40k times :)

Well you might get Nightmare for free cos your name in the draw Lori! Yeah it seems to be selling fast too :)

  • Oh my god! That old logo is magnificent, worth getting just for that and only $39.95! I'm all over it even though that's a triple dip for me now. Nightmare is one definitely on my radar, will grab it soon. Slaughterhouse is great and the DVD is on its way to me! Toy Soldiers is good, got mine at a Salvos mint! Sole Survivor I just got too, love the cover. HAHA we both have two Retaliators! Got a Nightlife, unwatched yet. My favourite Blue Underground is the Deep Red Bluray!!

  • @ExplosiveAction

Hey you might be lucky and get that copy of Nightmare for free if your name comes out! I think 100k copies is a lot and so I see no huge rush myself, although having said that it appears Amazon have exhausted their first round of stock and it's up to 14 day wait for it. Yeh I thought $40 for Grindhouse was steep till I saw the packaging and thought fuck it I want now! The JB only had 2 copies. I'll watch Toy Soldiers before the box gets stored :)

  • @AussieRoadshow I think you'll like Toy Soldiers. I'll check the JB's on my way home from work tomorrow, see if I get lucky!

  • @MrMoviepassion

Wow you do better than me sometimes I find long vids can test my patience lol!

  • raiging fury i have on dvd under hell High title. US.all.

  • witchcraft in there i picked it up on dvd at ebay. the UK dvd.

  • can i assume it has the same card that my usa bluray has within the case?

i dont like bulky hard to store sets. i have a double (4 discer of grindhouse from roads. the film reel set

  • @BRm2008

There are five different cards in the Grindhouse box. You can see them all in a video that CarryTheZero1980 did on the boxset just yesterday.

  • I was just at JB HI-FI yesterday (picking up The Big Lebowski on Blu-ray), walk past the Blu-ray section and: "HOLY SHIT! GRINDHOUSE ON BLU-RAY IN AUSTRALIA?!"

Also, my favourite Blue Underground release (that I own) would be my first BU DVD which is The Living Dead at Manchester Morgue.

  • @MilknPopcorn

I reckon it was about time for the Grindhouse release, but the sheer packaging on the release makes it worthy in itself. The fake trailers are cool, my fave is the one for Don't, it is so funny. Well good luck in the draw :)

  • Awesome awesome stuff mate! Love those big chunky Roadshow and Palace VHS cases with the bitchin' artwork! I don't collect VHS, but I definitely like checking out your amazing collection...as always! Anyway...yeah dude...I would love to enter the giveaway, and I would have to say that my Blue Underground DVD of Dead And Buried is really cool, with nice metallic packaging and artwork! Cheers buddy!

  • @MrMovieNight

Man those big chunky boxes become a pain to store but they are still cool to have. They were the standard thing back in the 80s, no slip cases used here! I love the BU release of Dead and Buried too. You're name is in the draw :)

  • Wow. That Grindhouse packaging is awesome! I loved that they included the old Roadshow Home Video logo for it!

  • @AustralianTVClassics

It is really some awesome packaging from Village Roadshow to have done that. Whoever the designer was he or she deserves a pay rise!!!

  • phew that was big! Good score on the Electric Blue! I'm going to have to say best Blue Underground release for me was Fire and Ice. Packed with goodies and its always been a guilty pleasure. Great update mate!

  • @bringbackthemusic

Man I love Fire and Ice!!! Such amazing animation for its time, and underrated in my book. Bakshi never got the recognition he deserved. And the Electric Blue title is quite a score for a fiver, bargain, I was stoked, original box and all. Well good luck in the draw mate, you're in it :)

  • Great video.

I must say my favorite Code Red release is Terminal Island . A fantastic movie, and thats all i really want. Thats why i probably like Nightmare. I have only heard people talk about it and seen the trailer, but it sounds and looks great.

  • @sskkaamm

Nightmare is definitely a grim movie. Aside from the vicious axe murders at the end, there are some other great moments. Actually my fave scene is not one of violence, but one where George is filmed walking down 42nd Street in NY with all the grindhouse and porno cinemas in the background. It's like being there or something!!

  • @AussieRoadshow

Yeah, i have heard about it since its one of the movies on the Video Nasty-list. The list of banned movies in England in the 80´s.

  • Sheitan actually isn't that bad of a movie. The acting isn't spectacular, but I thought that the plot was pretty good.

  • @ABBAnirvanafan

I might watch Sheitan tonight after doing these video replies. Bad acting is something I can put up with if the story and violence is good. Hey it would be like watching an old grindhouse movie anyway!

  • Nice video fella..Love the Grindhouse edition you showed at the start of this video.I have the cannister edition as well it was a result of a swap i done with AussieMovieMan....The only Code Red dvd i've got is Rituals which is a great film and one i can highly recommend if you've not got it already.

  • @lucio1zfe

I still haven't picked up Rituals, I was trying for the old Oz VHS, which is a collector's item, but damn it I might just have to bite the DVD bullet :) The Code Red stuff is awesome grindhouse garbage. The trailers on Nightmare are really cool! Well you are in the draw for it now.

  • Awesome video buddy!!

Love that Grindhouse edition. Very cool!!

My favorite Blue Underground release is Suspiria and it was the first Blue Underground DVD so that's why I love it. For Code Red, it would be Madman. Again it was my first Code Red release and I am impressed with it.

  • @Rhine1988

Thanks for the comment buddy! It's funny how like the first title you get from a company can be a fave. My first BU release was Emanuelle in America, and it is great. My first Code Red was Beyond the Door, also a fave. Well your name is in the draw :)

  • Almost You was a very boring movie from what I remember.

Have you seen Potiche yet? I remember it being a funny little movie when I saw it at the local arthouse.

And favorite Blue Underground or Code Red? I'm going to go with the Alan Clarke Collection.

  • @acceptthis01

I missed Potiche at the cinema, and am still waiting for the DVD to come out, so yeah I'm still yet to see it. I must admit I prefer Ozon's darker films, but still I enjoyed 8 Femmes, which was very light.

You're the only one to so far nominate the Alan Clarke collection! Most are picking horror films. Well you're going into my draw :)

  • goddamn that grindhouse set is nice!

  • @DantheDVDUpdate

VR did an absolutely amazing job with Grindhouse, we think it's the best looking release in the world, but we are a bit biased being Aussies :)

  • Nice Update, Great bluray release of "Grindhouse", did you know that the 2 fake trailers on each of the movies "Machete" and "Hobo with a Shotgun" were made into real movies? :D

Did you see "Machete" from last year?

  • @sfighter991

Yeah I sure did see Machete, absolutely loved it. And saw Hobo with a Shotgun just a couple of weeks ago which was also great, but more violent, it got an 18+ rating here whereas Machete only got a 15+ rating. I recommend Hobo, Rutger Hauer was really good in it.

  • PS Favourite BU, The Living Dead at the Manchester Morgue.

  • @Murdersville

Good thing you didn't forget your fave BU or CR!! Your name is in.

  • I watched all the way through, no idea why, i haven't watched a tape in years.Guess i must be addicted to the memory of back street video shops, who always seemed to be run by some decidedly dodgy characters, least in the UK they where! ;)

  • @Murdersville

Nowadays it's just dodgy people who own the old VHS tapes, I might count myself among that type lol :)

  • great videos

    i am A subscriber

    fave blue underground film: maniac

    i hope i win

    thank you Mr pecker decker

  • @peckerdecker

Thanks for the entry and comment! You're in my hat draw and so good luck :)

  • Apparenlty according Dark Angel, the second disc of Nightmare is a DVDr.

  • @floyd75dylan

In a way all DVDs are DVDr with paint artwork over the top :)

But anyway, I'm not sure who Dark Angel is, but clearly he or she has not seen the disc for real because it is abolutely not a DVDr at all, it is simply the artwork design Code Red made.

  • @AussieRoadshow

DarkAngel182 is like you a youtube uploader from the UK, and is a affocinodo. He mainly reviews horror, and shows his very large horror movie collection, which are VHS (pre-certs video nasties), DVDS, and laserdiscs (all horror of course).

You should check his videos out, there are very good, and interesting.

  • @floyd75dylan

Man I so gotta sub to more channels! I'll check that youtuber out straight away :)

  • @AussieRoadshow

My favorite Blue Underground is Don't Torture a Duckling. It's practically a bare bones release, but it was a film I fancied because it was a Fulci film. I did have a few popular released giallos, and it was a blind buy, didn't know anything about it. It was this film that really got me appreciating the whole giallo genre. and what it was all about. It made me want to explore more, as well as trying to get hold of as many Itallian movies as possible.

  • One that I noticed was absent and really surprised me was my other favourite Palace Films comedy 'Stitches'! I don't have many tapes these days but I held on to that one as again like 'Hamburger' there's no DVD release.

As for my favourite Blue Underground release it would 'Dead & Buried', ranks as one of my all-time favourite horror films and that DVD edition is absolutely killer, from the digipack packaging to the bonus content on the discs!

  • @CarryTheZero1980

Yes and how cool was D&B released by Blue U. Everything about it. I love that they didn't mess with original artwork. Pure excellence. My fave BU release was the Mondo Cane box set. My fave Code Red, aside from Nightmare, is Beyond the Door. You're in my draw hat Jarret :)

  • @AussieRoadshow Thank you, my good man :)

  • Great update, Darron! I actually did a video on the 'Grindhouse' BD tonight too, brilliant minds and all :)

I haven't seen 'Slaughterhouse' for years but I do have fond memories of putting it on at my twelfth birthday sleepover and had a mate in tears, I used to have a dub of it on tape with TCM on before it growing up.

Those Palace tapes bring back a lot of memories! I really hope they release 'Hamburger: The Motion Picture' on DVD eventually, I love that movie!

  • @CarryTheZero1980

I'll watch your new vid shortly. The Grindhouse packaging is beyond amazing, I can't stop picking it up and looking at it lol.

Slaughterhouse was a great film to induct children into the joys of horror films!! My first were Evil Dead and The Burning, great start to a horror film loving career lol. You're right about Stitches, I'll have to track it down. I think my local might still have it :)

  • @AussieRoadshow Your local is still renting tapes? Amazing!

I dropped into the store at lunch with a workmate just to check the packaging out on the 'Grindhouse' release as we didn't have a great deal of info online, hadn't intended to buy there and then but as soon as I saw the reverse of the jacket I was sold immediately, there was no way I was leaving the store without it...haha :)

'The Evil Dead' was my very first horror film I can remember seeing too, tender age of three or four!

  • @whatblah43

Count Yorga's Return was utter crap and I loved it! Nowhere near as good as the first of course, and it has more of a 70s feel. VR have done remarkable job with Grindhouse, I dare say the best packaging of the special edition in the world (but I'm biased). Dang I thought Tarantino was inspired by Chopper lol. Your name is now in my Nightmare hat!

  • @lastalot

Man I've been on hols last few weeks, up to no good lol. So many vids to catch up on people will start to get cross with me he he. I got the Grindhouse set at JB but for some strange reason not all stores have it. It's a fab set and I reckon a collector item :)

  • yo, been watching your vids for a while. I reckon the reason aussies make youtube vids is cause of you and your awesome collection, your probably the only one who has done it the longest. as for my fav Code Red, Madman. awesome artwork which is very close to the original poster. keep up the cool vids!

  • @AussieEighties

Yeah I think I'm seen as some sort of big bad wolf of Aussie updaters lol. Topercat (now gone) and Wickscassidy (no longer making vids) came before me tho. Well you're in my draw hat mate, thanks for letting me know your fave CR :)

  • Awesome update ! I love the grind house Blu ray release :) . I wish I had that many palaces ! I'm from Australia too :) . Great update again . (Sorry about the first comment by the way I clicked enter by accident without finishing lol)

  • @NotterzzDVDReviews

I cannot recommend that Grindhouse blu highly enough. Aside from it being presented as the directors intended, the packaging is amazing and spot on for a retro style flick. Excellent work from VR. I've been collecting VHS tapes for nearly 15 years, so yeah managed to get heaps Palace ones over the years. Thanks for the great feedback :)

  • Aweso,e update ! Love the

  • Great vid, did not know about that new grindhouse set

  • @dvdmike007

The Grindhouse set is awesome mate! It's the extended 3+ hour version that is Death Proof and Planet Terror back to back as the directors intended it to be. The special features include the fake trailers that were not previously released until now. An excellent region B blu to consider getting. I assume the UK has released it too, not sure.

  • @AussieRoadshow I have the US disc that is the long cut, but the package is amazing on the AUS one

  • Love that Grindhouse artwork, a very nice touch on Roadshow's behalf and some great pickups in general, nice to see the rest of the Palace vids too.

As always, keep up your fantastic vids.

  • @accountwithoutrules

I really admire that awesome artwork VR did for Grindhouse, a great idea to appeal to us old school fans of retro releases. And I'm glad all the Palace stuff is done, every last one. Now onto the mid to late 80s VR stuff :)

  • Fuck yeah, love those Palace tapes! Wish all mine were in original cases like yours. Boo! That Grindhouse set looks awesome, can't believe Roadshow brought out the old livery for that one. Amazing! And the Nightmare DVD, when I saw that, I thought I'll have to get a copy, but guess I'll enter your comp first. :D And my favourite Code Red release would have to be... Nightmare! Haha. I love that film. Didn't know there was an Electric Blue movie. Good God!

  • @DonaldTaft

The Grindhouse artwork got me jumpy in JB and I was like Daz just pull your fucking self together and go calmly buy it! I should point out that it is the first time the 3+ hour extended theatrical cut, with all the fake trailers have been released in Australia. It is well worth the $.

I can't get enough Electric Blue stuff, it's ridiculous. As for Palace, I was lucky to score big box originals at stores that kept their covers pristine.

Well you're in the draw mate :)
