  • thanks!

  • Someone always trying to prevent women from doing things. Once white culture prohibited women from voting. As far as aboriginal culture is concerned, women played didgeridoo. They just didn't play in ceremonies. This idea of the taboo for women has come about in the last twenty years and it's hearsay. There are so many different aboriginal countries and not all of them had the didgeridoo. Not all of them had the same ideas about who should and shouldn't play.

    Play the music.

  • i have the weirdest boner right now...

  • Why should anyone be 'prohibited?' from pkaying the yidaki/didgeridoo, male or female. If you ever try to play one, chances are that you will also look into aboriginal culture and history!!! You go girl cos you got it! Much love, ecopunk! P. S. im a white englishman if anybody wants to find a splinter in my eye to poke at, i play a eucalyptus didge in f.......! This girl is great xxx

  • I am an aboriginal women and I am not allowed to play the didgeridoo. But I think it is fine for other women that are not aboriginal to play it.

  • WHERE MY TRIBE'S FROM(CAPE YORK) WOMEN ARE NOT EVEN ALOUD TO TOUCH A DIDGE, LET ALONE PLAY ONE....WTF!!!!

  • @tayne07 so i guess 'your tribe' is a bunch of 'WTF !!! throw back neanderthals' - jeezus on a stick caveman, grow a consciousness and evolve - or die out like the Dodo bird...you with your chauvinistic bigoted bird brain...have you forgotten, it was WOMAN who brought your sorry black ass into the world - without a woman you are NOTHING !

  • @jconabike first of all you shouldnt add your little worthless petty thoughts about a culture that you clearly dont have a fucking clue about, second, i guess by the term "evolve" means bending over and geting fingered by the goverment which is in turn being run by money hungry, simple minded, united states arse kissers! chanuvinistic bigoted bird brain??..yous are the scum of england, your a decendant of rapist, murderers, pedos and theifs!,third,it takes two to tango so kiss my black ass!!

  • women talk too much

  • Why cant people share everything and we just call it one big culture, the human culture. I for one don't feel like I should take a history lesson in order to play or do anything. I'm a human, and whatever humans have created, I'm entitled to use, at my own discretion.

  • @0:37 looks like she is eating a black dick

  • @matt98787 Someone has seen way too much porn...

  • People seem to think that it is all ok for woman to plant he didg. Some of you even think that any sane aboriginal person should congratulate this person. i am aboriginal man with a aboriginal wife and 3 daughters. They are not allowed to even touch the didg let alone play it. It has always been disrespectful for woman to touch them but apparently if you white or from another country, people think it's ok. Talk to some real descendants of Australia and ask them if its ok. Definitely not.

  • @geoffo75 This is America, land of the free. and we love when a woman plays the didge, they put a different feeling to it. The didge no longer belongs to the Aboriginals from Australia, it belongs to humanity, agree or not. I am teaching my daughters how to play it. Sorry but times have changed. Medieval times are over

  • @karlgan973 We are happy to share the Yakadi with the world, women are not allowed to play the didge purely due to cultural beliefs - clearly not because we're medieval, I have grown up where women are completely prohibited from playing the yakadi but I'm sure there are tribes that aren't so strict.

The yikadi will always belong to our people, It's something we've used for thousands of years to communicate and spread stories, although it's for everyone to enjoy and have fun with :)

  • @geoffo75 Whats wrong with a woman playing an instrument? What's it going to do? Who will it hurt?

  • @GeckoManRS

Old traditions are hard to break. Why cant you show any bodyparts in some cultures...?

First off all im not saying I agree with woman not being allowed to play the didgeridoo. I think everyone should be able to master an instrument this beatifull but to defend geoffo, you should really read about the Aboriginal culture.

You dont have to agree with the cultural diffrences but you can at least try to understand them.

  • @EgiCuijten I understand that in some places of the world they keep their tradition but, it's the way that guy said the comment in a negative way sort of saying she should not be allowed to play the instrument. No hate towards any culture at all so sorry if it was in any way offensive or something :o

  • @EgiCuijten Not to turn this into a contest, I have great admiration for the Aboriginal culture, (at least me) I have read and learn about them, of how they were treated by the invaders, how their land was stolen and soon after the way they were treated. But I also see that some old traditions have lost their value in this modern society. Women are no longer less than men, they are our equal and without women men are nothing. Women playing the Didge should not be a bad thing. my two cents.

  • @geoffo75 So. Sounds like negativity.

  • ROFL reminds me of Dubstep!

  • Aussi Aboriginal myth, True or false.... women become infertle if they play the diggy?

  • @g31n3z3w5k1 it is thought that the vibration of the sounds can make a pregnant woman loss her baby, or infertile.. but it is traditional for only men to play the didge in most aboriginal tribes .. so your answer is, it is a dreamtime myth..

  • WOW! I wish I could play like you! Haha.

  • P.S. You rock that didge Tristan, and any sane Australian aboriginal would be cheering you on. One Love!

  • In addition the term "western" doesn't apply to the western area of the globe - it means industrialized countries and Europe, Australia and New Zealand as well as North America are included in this term.

And in World culture it is disrespectful to use the term "bitch" when referring to a woman you fucking hypocrite!

  • But because the modern didgeridoo is not only structurally different from the traditional instrument, but also culturally and symbolically different, these ideas don't really apply anymore.

Also Indigenous law that governs indigenous society does not apply to non-indigenous persons.

  • In one area of Australian where the strictest regulations of women playing or touching the didgeridoo appear is the area where the didgeridoo has been most recently introduced, suggesting that its not a traditional cultural characteristic that should be respected but rather a gender-dividing, sexist concept, that some even believe is a marketing scheme to increase sale of didgeridoos - more women will buy didgeridoos because of its taboo.

  • JahsTheWord1: Just some corrections here for you...

traditionally the didge is played by men, women and children, except in some areas of Australia, reasons being: because traditional Australian tribes and chiefdoms believed in sympathetic magic - the didgeridoo was symbolic of the male penis, and it was thought that if a woman played she would become infertile as the "maleness" of the instrument would penetrate the woman.

But they were allowed to play, just not in ceremony.

  • JahsTheWord1 _ You suck balls. "I'm from Australian" ?!? Did you actually write that in a dis' toward some one else?!? Priceless! Come to Canada _ we"ll teach you grammar.... and how to Didge!

  • @chakobsa1 it's kind of not funny to say that about his grammar - he is probably Australian Aboriginal and speaking lingo - and this is dislocation of the instrument from the culture that created it, and exploitation. It's his perspective. If you listen to the Aboriginal instruments you have to listen to Aboriginal opinions too, surely....

  • man so what u can be from china, if u truthfully respect our culture y u doen it? to get net fame S= of corse u are u dont really care if u offend any1 u live on da other side of the world, u really not give a shit so stop acting like u do...pfft westerners man no surprises there..

  • im from australian, man dis bitch dont even kno women can not play it its a male thing in the culture, bloody idiot bitch no respect. just exploit shit why dont u.

  • @JahsTheWord1 Didn't your mama tell you that writing like that makes you look and sound like a retard??

  • Comment removed

  • @JahsTheWord1 it may be a male thing in your culture. but our culture is different (canada) respet for both dude!! also respect for woman and not calling them bitch! (thats not excepted in our culture) :)

  • Comment removed

  • @MajaVidak elders have expressly asked that women NOT play... and we don't use the word shrimp, we have always used 'prawn'... another example of North American essentialism. Maybe you can just put us up in 2D plywood and sing 'It's a small world after all' ....

  • @tanyariches1 YA! Screw human creativity for women and people who aren't like you! YA! feel ya man. HAHAH
