  • i love taking my M44 to the range ive tried to find someone to fix my front sight its bent ive tried to fix it myself but i just cant get it right any suggestions

  • That thing is a hand cannon. It tore a huge hole in my yard at about 20 yards. I've never seen something tear the ground up like that that's not automatic at about 200 rds

  • They are made to shoot with the bayonet extended. That's why it's shooting 4-6 inches off.

  • id love to have a nice piece of property like this person...it must be so cool to walk out in your backyard and shoot your guns.

  • If I were to choose between this, a used k98, and a modern rem. 700, which would be the most fun?

  • life is good at 20:17

  • I made the mistake of shooting my homemade steel target with an M38 (predecessor of the M44). Punched right threw it. I was using steel core ammo and didn't know it. I never made that mistake again.

  • I still need to get myself an M44, I'd love to see and feel those "fireballs" it creates..

  • Now I want watermelon...

  • ive never seen any1 be so close to a bolling pin and miss it that many times! each shot was off by an inch max haha

  • firearms and hardware transcend politics :) Don't hate the gun because the guy who made it had no choice where he was born or who he built it for ;)

  • mine when i got it was very far to the right a few whacks with a hammer and couple shots later its dead on those guns are just cool no question

  • sarcasm is a great thing.

  • How would you compare the recoil of the 91/30 to the M44?

  • i still like the finnish ones i just recently bought an un-issued tikka 1943 m39

  • This was my frist gun and i still have it. Very fun to shoot!

  • @AmericanMuscle2012 This was my first gun too!

  • Are those refinished stocks? they look to nice not to be refinished.

  • I've had a couple 91/30's and a bunch of M44's, they are the most fun rifles ever. Can't beat em.

  • Have one and like it!!

  • I think I'll get my 1945 Tula M44 out and sling some lead! Thanks for the vid!

  • roughly how much does the M44 cost?

  • @dorroh92 J&G Sales has the 91/30 priced at about $80 plus shipping. The M44 is likely about the same price. I think I paid $69 for mine and it was in excellent as new condition with bright bore. Great value in hard hitting old guns. BTW...the 7.62x54R hits about like a .30-06.

  • @sjohnson1776 Thanks for the info!! much appreciated. I've always been very interested in the Mosins..and even more interested in the M44!! Thanks for the input again.

  • @dorroh92 got myne for 110$..4 years ago lol now there around 5-600

  • @robthatguyx I figured they would have gotten somewhere around there by now. What about the Mosin Sniper (not sure model #) price wise?

  • @dorroh92 dont know fore sure what one your talking about i know m91/30s are around 90$ on sale now where i am in pa anyways . normal price is around 130

  • @robthatguyx yea i can get the 91/30s where i am for around 90 bucks..the model im talking about i believe is just a 91/30 but has a turned down bolt handle that allowed the russians to mount a scope for their snipers. anyways thanks for the replys!

  • @robthatguyx I hear ya man. I bought a case of them ten years ago for $440 bucks. That was ten M44's from Poland, Hungary and Russia. I fixed them up and gave them away as gifts cuz they were only 40 bucks a piece. I wish I still had them. Later I got an M38 as a gift. I still have the M38 and I love it.

  • @viebrocker mosin nagants=one of the worlds most underrated guns.they kick a bit and there loud but hey thats what makes them fun and my m44 is still damn accurate hittin neckshots on silloett targets at 100 yards ironsighted cant get better than that for how old they are. dont shoot myne to often because i have to order another 880 round case of ammo but even still i take her outa the case just to hold it and look down the sights

  • @robthatguyx Hey bro, I do the same thing. I just love the way they smell and the way they feel in the hand. Like you say, fun X 100. You can't beat em.

  • @robthatguyx if seen them for only like 300 $

  • @MrDip02 non counterbored with all matching serial numbers?

  • @robthatguyx YUP YUP but it was a personal dealer and probably just wanted cash and sold it for a low price but i could care less i hate the carbines that's why i bought a tikka m39

  • Why you don't use clip for loading ?

  • I love the sound of reloading a round.

  • I love Mosins!

  • @skrappyb God, who doesnt; they are like god crafted guns, they shoot perfectly and are very accurate

  • They're interesting guns history and design-wise, but I think the Mauser is way more smoother. I won't knock them though, because many famous marksmen dominated the battlefields with them.

I may get a M44 just so I can use 7.62x54R ammo that will be laying around. I hear the polish ones are the best.

  • The reason why it was shooting to the left was that the rifle was actually sighted in with the bayonet extended.

  • I bet if he scraped all the copper he has down range he would be a millionare XD

  • how did you move the sights?

  • hickok, i am know to guns, and never used a bolt action before and was wondering if you can "top of" this gun wen loading as i have seen you do with other guns. thanks for all you great videos!

  • I bought one these the past weekend at the SGK gunshow in Hampton, VA. Great little gun smooth as silk action. Ive got to find a cleaning rod for it though.

  • Posted almost a year ago and still getting comments.

    Hickok is a legend.

  • Mosin Nagants make great firewood

  • @ColCustardChucker "Mosin Nagants make great firewood"

Or they make one of the best and fun guns you can buy for around $100.

  • Can the 91/30 be bought without a waiting period cus it was made before 1899, cus that's like some sort of pawn shop rule

  • @ps3xpert no, though the mosin nagant was created in 1891, 91/30s are from 1930 onward, the year of manufacture therefore isn't before 1899, so that waiting period you speak of must stand

  • @ps3xpert Waiting period?

I'm glad I don't live in a state with waiting periods!

  • Mighta missed it, is it more expensive, or harder to find, and how much

  • Sweet gun!

  • I hate communism, but I love Soviet guns so damn much

  • @MonkeyMasher1 haha I feel the same way, Love Freedom and the American Constitution, but damn do those russian guns look fun to shoot!

  • @Takiado Best part: they're all cheap as well as the ammo, and they don't break.

  • @Takiado Well if you didnt know , we had a freedom , and we will always have freedom .Sorry if i wrote something wrong becose i am just learning English .

  • @Takiado it wownt be long before u end up as bolshevik russia of 80 years ago over there..i see a similar climate brewing up over there..

  • @MonkeyMasher1 Communism is a social, political and economic ideology that aims at the establishment of a classless, moneyless, stateless and revolutionary socialist society structured upon common ownership of the means of production.

  • @s1rpala1nen I suppose that is a good thing? It's a terrible idea. And good job going on wikipedia.

  • @MonkeyMasher1 The Communism was a bad idea, doesnt mean that the Russians never knew how to make guns, but if you think about it, Russia was a Communist country, and they made good guns, so if every country was communist, people would be throwing you good guns every day, instead of a news paper :)

  • @stitches611 Hell yes they can make guns! So can the Belgians.

  • @MonkeyMasher1

    exactly same thoughts here

  • @MonkeyMasher1 Haha, you "capitalized" soviet.

Oh that was a horrible play on words...

  • @MonkeyMasher1 i hate usa but i love yankee guns so much

  • @ermaslv44 No you don't

  • @MonkeyMasher1 im pretty shure i know what i like better then you mister

  • About moving the sights. I have 2 M44's and mine shot off to the side also. I was told that you need to have the bayonet extended to change the point of impact. I thought that was a little strange, but a guy at the range I shoot at told me that the rifle was sighted in with the bayonet extended/attached....I really like mine. Take care.

  • what do you mean "normally" your not under attack?'-'

  • can the bayonet be removed? please respond.

  • @ktockly Yes.

  • @ktockly yes it can

  • whould this be a good hunting rifle?

  • @chriswardoutdoors

Absolutely. More than enough energy to bring most North American game down, just remember to use soft points of hunting specific ammo, no FMJ while hunting.

  • @chriswardoutdoors Sure, if it's legal. This thing basically shoots a .308 caliber (it's chambered for 7.62 x54r). You hit a deer or a coyote with this thing, it'll go down rolling.

  • @chriswardoutdoors yes ive used one since 08 for deer and coyote

  • @chriswardoutdoors Yes, very accurate and the round is very hard hitting and very easily found for a good price! plus the rifle is only $100

  • Hickock, if you can find a Polish M44 they are awesome! Great vid.

  • Windage off, shoots to the left too much

  • Windage off to the left

  • Comment removed

  • you can get one and just put a limbsaver on it. Kill two birds with one stone. length and recoil

  • Is that really a bayonet? It seems like its more built for breaking ice or something of that sort....

  • hickock, in all of your videos i have watched, i think that bowling pin is the one target you took the most shots at and missed

  • I love your video's, keep it up!!

  • ive watched most of your video and i wish i had a range on my property keep making your video i like them.

  • Great video! I have 1 polish M44,they are the most well built Mosin ever! Mine is still in new, unfired cond but i just bought another polish that will be a shooter:) Somes laugh at the Mosin but they are excellent rifle and bullet proof design.

  • nice shooting! and seems like there was difference with or with out bayonet :)

But you may know all ready that some of Russian rifles have a different sightning!

For example, Model 1891 Rifle: the Russian standard of sighting rifles with the bayonet fixed! :)

I don't know what is the right way to do it with model M44 but that's the fun part with Russians! ;)

  • Bought a 91/30 last year. It is fun and everything but it is too long! The M44 costs 2.5x as much around here. So jealous.

  • 13 people failed to win the mosin nagant of THE END

  • Enjoyed it as always Hickock! Just picked up a couple of type 53 Chinese carbines this week. That's the Chinese copy of the M44. I will probably shoot them this weekend. Are you using Czech light ball? Looks like it. Keep shootin and have fun!

  • hi love the vid! the term for the shape of the bayonet is cruciform.

  • these rifles are amazing able to be found for under $100 the ammo is plentiful and powerful you'd need a really good reason not to buy one.

  • I Managed to Snag up a Chinese Type 56. Its Action is SUPER SMOOTH. Unfortunately the previous owner for what ever reason filed down the firing pin, so it wouldnt fire. Good thing I had two other Mosins to rob from.

  • @ShaiqNBaiq5464 Correction Type 53. I always refer to it as M44

  • the M44 seems to be barrel heavy because it is, the shortened version carries the metal framework for the bayonet and the bayonet itself. By putting the bayonet in its attack position the gun becomes perfectly balanced just past the holder clip, where your left hand rests. The result is a very accurate shot and a very sore shooting shoulder.

  • which do you find better the mosin m44 or the 91/30

  • if you don't know where to put the bayonette, put it on backwards

  • If you want to sell your m44, I'll take it off your hands. My 91/30 needs a little brother

  • @Gman027 its not his

  • I've got a Polish M44 with the bayonette. Picked it up for $100. Nice gun, reasonably accurate, but it kicks like a mule and no scope will stay on that thing and remain dialed in after 2 or 3 shots.

I'm going to sell it in a few months to help pay for an M1 Garand.

  • i personally wanted an m44, but noone in town sold one. so i ended up buying a 91/30. still a great gun with a lot of history behind it but i do with i had the m44.

  • I own a m44 1945 and i love it. not in perfect shape. such as the wood. its seen its war days but i love how it shoots. its dead on.

  • Please dont hack it. Thats a rifles nightmare for someone to sporterize, modify or just bubba that historic piece.

  • Bought an M44 yesterday in excellent condition for $169. Personally I like it a lot better than the 91/30, and I've gone through 2 of those. Feels better balanced, easier to lug around, quicker to boot.... Also the bolt action is A LOT smoother.

  • It shoots to the right with because their to be sighted in with the bayonet up.

  • I have one and it's a shoulder thumper. Great gun though.

  • I love my m44 with the exception that it shoots high still working on fixing that. I bought mine about 10 years ago for 50 dollars and it has been an awesome investment. For anyone who wants to put a scope on theirs and don't want to have to deal with having to modify your m44 or 91/30 for that matter here is a great sight that offers a nice and cheat scope kit. the sight is combatoptical its pretty nice im going to buy one here shortly.

  • do you mainly shoot brass or are those steel casings

  • At the used gun store I go to, there are usuelly 3-9 Mosin-Nagants in stock and about half of them are always m44s

  • I love my 91/30, I am kicking around buying an M44 that's scoped. Great rifles! And I love your videos. If I'm in the mood to buy another gun I always check and see if Hickock's got one. LOL

  • They are sited with the bayonet on, with the bayonet folding back it will shoot to the right upwards of 6 inches, if the bayonet is extended it will shoot as accurate as the 91/30

  • hi,thanks for the nice videos hicok!

    long life to you!merci

  • 1 love my 91/30

  • I got Mosinitis after getting an M91/30. Now I want a Polish M44

  • Which do you prefer yours or the M44? I think 1 of each would be just fine. I would imagine the m44 would be the one to mount a scope on and hunt with? Thoughts on that?

  • I may buy a second M44. It shoots better than most any of my other rifles! Rock solid piece of work!

  • It may have been shooting a bit to the right because these were sighted in with the bayonet extended. It changes the barrel harmonics slightly and can affect accuracy.

Of course, these guns are 60-70 years old or more, so after all that time it could definitely be off.

  • I own many guns of all type, caliber, and size, but I'll be damned if I don't enjoy shooting my Mosin M44 more than any other.

  • is it pronounced carbEEn (long e sound) or CarbIne (long I sound)?

  • @BuffalowwwBuffalo Depends who you ask its a tamato toemato thing lol

    Personally I say Carbeen

  • @BuffalowwwBuffalo depends if youre frome the north or south. i say carbine and im from NC

  • i was going to say a little mosin has a bayonet attached to the gun!

  • Sir what brand of ammo is that?

  • @WSHSwildcat18 It appears to be Czech Silver Tip I believe.

  • IS HE THE END?

  • @TIOWAH

    MGS reference?

  • @TIOWAH hes waiting for snake in the future

  • Why does it sound like someone is ALWAYS mowing their grass during his videos?

  • FPS Russia is cool and all but he doesnt really ever explain the history or significance of the weapons he is shooting. I like hickok45 more

  • with the original markings

  • i have this gun

  • Powerful Little Round he says !!! Lol that round is huge !!!

  • Fantastic stuff, i think we need to come play in your backyard, Conrats, thank for sharing. Cheers boltactionreaction.

  • I have to get the Mosin-Nagant M44! Thank you hickok45 for the video. Hope one day to drop bye to say Hello in beautiful TN.

  • @RoaminHans they are on sale at aimsurplus for 199.99, not trying to promote their site in particular but if you really want one you should get it there while they still have it. The supply of m44s are dwindling fast and its unlikely there will be any more importer sales, even the gun stores i've been to that have a large stock of mil surplus hardly carry them anymore.

  • @happyman489

Right after I posted I went searching for the M44 and found it at aimsurplus. I pick it up today and just hope it's in good condition. Aimsurplus also has good prices on Russian 7.62 surplus in the sealed ammo cans. Thanks for the info happyman489.

  • Haha that bowling pin had to learn the hard way who it was messing with. =]

  • shit thAts LOUD

  • I saw a fellow on Youtube shooting one of these rifles and he had a very STRANGE style. What he did was cycled the bolt with his LEFT hand WHILE keeping the weapon SHOULDERED. Looked hard to do, but man was he fast! Thought I'd throw that out there, very strange indeed:)

  • @HerbWalker Yea, left handed shooters have a bit of troble working the bolt, since they have to use their left hand. Nothing strange really.

  • I LIKE the M44 "CarBINE" version too. Well I watched you shoot at that bowling pin and I tell you what Hoss, If that pin had another coat of paint, You'd a HIT that rascal!!! hahahaha...I shoot them with my M1911 and man they can sure suck it up and get skinny, in a HURRY! Bayonet,RUN out there and STICK'EM like you did with the Light Saber!!! LOL Stay Safe my friend! Herb

BAYONET: Makes a NASTY 'blood channel' to produce major blood lose!

  • I LIKE the M44 "CarBINE" version too. • the vids are the best for any gun

  • The mindboggling thing about the M44 was that the Russians started developing it after Stalingrad taught them that the 91/30 was amybe a bit unwieldy for urban combat; the M44 is basically a bolt action battle rifle designed for CQB (!). Also, the length of pull is due to it being meant to be shot by Russians wearing great big thick winter greatcoats.

  • @fearsclave Really? That's interesting.

Also, the LOP is just about perfect for me wearing a t-shirt. Since I'm also left-eye dominant and shoot rifles lefthanded, the straight bolt handle is a godsend.

  • @fearsclave I guess nobody noticed that you just copied the video info word for word lolol..

  • Comment removed

  • Thumbs up if you watched this entire video with your M44 sitting on your lap.

  • "Sometimes if it's a long-range shot that's tough to get, I gotta go to a handgun."

Who else could get away with saying that?

  • russians beat you to making a shorter rifle. Just like flying to outerspace

  • if you have can get the old gun we all want to see, the kar-98k we would like to see you fire it.

  • @kiddykiddypranks He has vids of him shooting them.

  • I am a huge fan of M91/30s. For a cheap high caliber rifle to start with, it is unbeatable. I would probably trust my life to that rifle.

  • i read somewhere that the mosin-nagant rifles were designed to aim high so the russians were trained to aim at emeny belt buckles. i think its more of a long range weapon anyway so at 100-300 yrds it will hit a target high. hope this helps with aiming. sweet vid

  • Cruciform-shaped bayonet

  • 15:35 You really are awesome, Hickock.

  • Simo Hayha

  • I heard that they teach soldiers to stab with the bayonet and twist it to open the cut and keep it from closing. I was wondering if you heard the same?

  • I've got an M91/30, but now... I might just have to buy a M44, because the 91/30 is a little too long for CQB...

  • Hickok45, I love your videos sir. Very down to earth and informative. Thanks!

  • I think I have a new hero. I'm just starting with the NRA and all that training but my ambition is to be just like you :P Mosin nagant sniper is my aim in 6 months though :S

  • What countrys ammo do you use in your 54R's?

  • never can a guy have so much shooting fun for under $200 bucks like you can with a mosin

  • hands down my favorite rifle to shoot out of my arsenal

  • @daviescrt28 actually car bean
