  • This is definitely a trend and will be the future. Some of the fashion companies are already doing that by streaming fashion shows and people are able to buy what ever they want to click for (except the person:-) ).

  • great information... let's see more of this...

  • Good stuff. The future is now.

  • Hey Dave, this is scary. I thought I was doomed with the advent of the cordless phone and HSN. Now we are talking using the remote. Thank goodness it is always getting lost. Great site.

  • you’re brilliant.

  • I keep getting HobbyKing-ads ;-)

  • Wow. This technology is essentially a trap for impulse buyers. Perhaps the ultimate takeaway is: do not watch QVC when tired or under the influence. This feature makes it far too easy to spend money on a juicer or bread maker that you'll never use!

  • He he great another way to get hacked

  • @rzennrer Yeah I know right. Working on a new channel thing, will make an anncoument here once its up.

  • I like the convenience. As for impulse buying, people will re-calibrate. It used to be that you'd have to ALWAYS get to a store, have enough cash ON HAND, and so on...we then had credit cards and debit cards, then online shopping, etc. This is just a natural advancement. Impulse buyers who have shopping problems would get to the store if they had to, would look up their credit card numbers if they had to, etc. anyway.

  • Hey Mr.Powers

Can you email me a few ways to make money on youtube because i need to make money for collage. Thank You

  • fascinating stuff, like usual ;)

  • Awesome as always Dave. :)

  • @cptnck Working on some big RC planes, need more time.

  • Thanks just wondering cuz, its been a while

  • The impulse buy is the heart of the television retailing industry, it always has been. The difference is that NOW it truly is an impulse! The one click buy makes it easy for the consumers, and cheaper for HSN (no operators, phone lines, etc.) The downside might be that by eliminating the operator they're losing the opportunity to upsell the customer and make more revenue per order. Many callers buy a more expensive package or continuity plan on the phone, not sure about the clickers.

  • @LouCap Ah yes the upsell. I forgot about that. Over time the numbers will tell I'm sure.

Thinking about the 'impulse buyers' they generally are the 'SP' personality type (Myers Briggs) and they're about 40% of the population. A couple of my friends are SPs and I laugh at them when we go out. They want whatever is advertised largest on the menu. SPs with their carefree way of life are also most likely to misplace their wallet. So a quick click now has really got to increase sales I'd imagine.

  • I see it's been said already in the comments, but yeah, that's why the iPhone, iPod, iPad etc.. make so much money.

  • @buildafoamie Yes, just a quick touchy-touch.

  • After enabling "one click buy" in Amazon and rather accidentally buying a book there, I don't really like the impulse buying thing anymore... But you are right. Removing all this copyrighted material from YT is just pissing people off. Why not let ppl distribute it for free and push the adds in and collect the money? It just takes one with courage to break the old business model and the others will follow. Or perish as dinosaurs did. Good vid, thanks!

  • @aprepo Yes, very well said.

  • ..... iTunes' been doing that for a long time!

  • I only have so much blood for them to bleed out. If America doesnt start amking things we are dead meat sheaple

  • @stompySharpNpointy Yes, exactly. The US better start producing stuff at competitive prices again. The US still leads the way in new ideas, but that's hard to really fuel the economy when other Nations end up building those ideas.

  • the one thing i like about these guys is they actually respond to my comments if i ask a question or comment about something relevant to the video(hint hint septimas)

  • @TandemDawgBMG respondinated.

  • ha thank god i dont have any money on my account.:D

  • @plavins1 Ha! Yep, they woulda done got it from ya by now!

  • its a brilliant idea.

  • Exactly! It would also only make sense that youtube creates algorithms that scan recognizable name brand objects in videos as well!

Then boom! The person in the video wouldn't even need to say anything and the viewer would receive a link to buy that sweater your wearing, or that boom mic.. or chair!

  • @Knoptop Yep, that's whats going on. There is an article out there somewhere on all this too.

  • Hey Dave

Really good point about the impulse buying thing and getting rid of the need to enter your credit card details everytime.

I've also seen the trend for the same kinda thing with mobile phone - i.e. just enter your mobile number and then your mobile account get's charged automatically.

My mate reckons this increases your conversions by HEAPS!

    Enjoying your content!

    Gideon Shalwick

  • @GideonShalwick Oh thats right, yes I've seen that on the phones. Just imagine what this is all gonna look like in 5 years.

  • @OhVeryNice2 Yeah, 5 years is such a long time to imagine... I reckon even 1-3 years will look very different to what it looks like today!

    Gideon Shalwick

  • Very cool stuff.

  • very clever idea...

  • this isn't just hsn, it is on many commercials i see

  • @mikitymike Oh really? Which other ones have you seen? I'm looking for more.

  • @OhVeryNice2 i just saw one on a commercial for "Redmont College" it gave u the option of calling them.

  • The future of digital advertising and commerce is.... old damn IMPULSE PURCHASE!

  • @nitoro81 Ha! They got us again, huh.

  • Recognizing a trend before it becomes obvious...that's why I subscribe. Tech headline for 2010's - Internet kills TV. I am already sitting around the tube and two of us have laptops. We pause live TV and show each other what we are seeing on the laptops. One web screen at home/office...one mobile web screen in the pocket....one cloud. Everything else is a dino.

  • @ARCHERDAVE1 Hey thanks. Yes trends is the absolutely the first step to a successful business these days. What giant iceberg is getting smaller and which small snow ball is getting bigger each day?

  • WHY ARE YOU NOT MAKING ANYMORE RC AIRPLANE VIDEOS ? ? ? ? ?

  • @septimas71 He is, but he making bigger projects, so they take a couple of months or so.

  • @septimas71 Yes, working on bigger RC planes that take more time.

  • i have seen that. when i whach your plain videos befor i have seen adds with nitro plains and xheli. so that is rilly cool how thay do that.

  • @dibloking123 The YouTube is constantly reading whats going on in the videos (and tags and title) and trying its best to bring up relevant ads. This I kinda don't mind as much. If I'm watching a survival video, I don't mind an ad for a knife, I do mind an ad for Progressive Insurance.

  • I call it the lazy factor.

    Think W.A.L.L.E.

YT insight shows "most common phrases used in comments".

    So algorithmic, I wanna' algo-dance!

  • @nishbrown Using our lazy factor against us. I'm sure guilty. If I have to "work" to buy something I usually won't do it. I'll certainly pay a little more for it if I don't have to leave the house.

  • that is very sweet, everything will be much quicker and our want of everything to be more instantaneous will be even closer. The only problem is that what if the companies that choose to do this then decide to charge the user of that company to have the option to be able to buy instatly? I don't know about you, but we have been with Comcast for a while now and don't exactly like the service very much.

  • @TandemDawgBMG instantly* don't you just hate it when the keyboard forgets to strike a key?

  • @TandemDawgBMG apparently Comcast test most new features [ie: 100mbps internet!] in Portland area first; so far, I've got nothing but good things for them.

  • @CoolVallieJean well then you guys are lucky, cause back here on the opposite coast the channels get messed up every now and then, sometimes they turn the internet off for no reason(which sucks when i try to do online gaming), but funny enough the phone service never has a problem, and i never use it.

  • Very clever, Your so ingenious

  • Scary high pitch frequency going on :/

  • @JouninSpriggan only on hd
