@TheYankeeMarshal After searching months for a CCW I came across this vid. Got the MK 40 Elite '03 w/night sights & love it! Do you have a part # for the wood grips? what polish compound & buffer did you use to polish the barrel? Mine had a few light scratches at the front sides of the slide--what would you recommend to buff those out? Thank you & keep the vids going! Also, love the PPK & Sig 232 maybe I can talk the wife into the Sig (she likes it) & justify a backup to a backup w/PPK lol
that gun is awesome i think when i get some money saved up i would opt for the k40 though..the other magazine is to ugly for youtube huh? i prefer flush fitting mags anyway good video
@frodo70444 I have a K40 and it is a very nice gun. I keep considering selling it though because it is a bit big for a low capacity gun. It shoots extremely well though.
@TheYankeeMarshal if i had money i would buy it i wouldn't mind a mk9 but i have never shot a 40 in any caliber and i would not want to get in over my head with the mk40 if i had them both i would think of the k40 as a normal carry and the mk9 as a running to the store throw it in my pocket gunwieght dont bother me to much kinda keeps me aware that i have a gun beside si would hate for my last words to be damn kel-tec
@cucv4x4 big deal it is not like if it goes off it will be your wall that gets a hole blown in it .. i dont know what is worse the careless gun people or the ones that correct people on how they handle THEIR OWN guns
Excellent video, thanks. Did you order your wood grip from kahr's website? I just got mine from them (labeled "MK style wood checkered grip"), and it doesn't fit. The routed areas on the back are way off from the shape of the frame, and the bottom screw holes aren't even close to shallow enoiugh. Emailed them, but thought I'd ask you where you got your's. Thanks.
@TheYankeeMarshal Thanks, I looked at it more last night, and found that it was hanging up on about 1/16" of unrouted wood on the inside of the grip. You could see the score line that should have been routed to. I carefully used a chisel to fit it to the frame. Worked great. Put 200 rounds though it in one range visit, and it beat up my thumb knuckle pretty good, but that's expected for such a small powerful gun, it's perfect for what it's designed for.
Probably the best video on this gun on YouTube. I prefer the academic approach to the cowboy style videos you see here. My only complaint is that you're making me regret passing over a used MK40 Elite in favor of the PM40 I ended up buying. Or maybe not...the extra steel really adds some weight.
Great review! I'm SERIOUSLY considering replacing my Sig P238 with an MK9. I'm not a fan of the .380 cartridge to begin with, and although I've never had any problems with my Sig, the Kahr is really calling my name.
Thanks for the review I own a MK40 also. It is So WELL BUILT! I put the pearce extended grip piece on my 5 round mag, also running TRU DOT night sights. Feels good and looks good. Thumbs up on the wood grips I think i will order those.
@Tadpoleriver I usualy just use something simple like a Galco Sto-N-Go IWB holster. I am wearing the MK4 in one right now. I also carry a PM40 in the same holster.
@markd514 I actually do show how the grip fits my hand in the video. My reviews deal solely with the gun. I do not feel the need to run around in camos and roll arpund shooting on video. My military days are over. I do not feel any need to pretend to be some commando on youtube. That just isn't my style. If you want to see how Rambo would handle a gun there are plenty of videos out there. If you want to see what a regular shooter feels about a firearm with no flash my vids might be acceptable.
Why do liberal panty waist anti gun morons click on a link for a gun review, and then tell bs sob stories about how their loved ones were killed by a concealed firearm? If you don't like guns, DON'T WATCH GUN VIDEOS ON YOUTUBE AND COMPLAIN ABOUT PEOPLE WHO DO! MAYBE YOU SHOULD TROT ON OVER TO MAMBY PAMBY LAND AND SEE IF YOU CAN FIND SOME SELF CONFIDENCE YA JACKWAGON! See ya on GT YankeeMarshal
You couldn't possibly hurt the viewer with a loaded gun anyway. Most people watching know how to check to see if a gun is unloaded and trust you did the same thing yourself beforehand. If you did fail to safety check and you shot yourself in the process of making this video we wouldn't be seeing this post in the first place.
I've got the MK9 and love it. It is my summer carry gun when wearing shorts and t-shirt. 100% reliable, very concealable. I even took it to a point shooting class and had ZERO malfunctions for the day and scored better than guys with GLOCKs, 1911s and XD's. Kahr makes a great pistol
Atlast a much awaited review of the Kahr MK40 in You Tube, and a really informative one I must say. Good job! Waiting to watch one of Kahr K40. Thanks brother.
Good, thorough vid brotha. Covered all the bases and you definitely shot better than most would 1st time out with a particular gun... well, definitely better than *I* would!
This is a very "savory" video. =p

Hey bro how is the recoil a scale 1-10. And do you have a problem when you shoot the whole clip real fast at one time

How would you say the kick on your MK40 compares to your PM40?
knarfster 3 months ago
@knarfster Much more manageable due to the added weight and larger grip.

@nebamartinez I do not have a part number, but they are easy to find on the Kahr site. To buff out minor scratches use synthetic steel wool pads.

Can you interchange a 9mm barrel w/ it? I doubt you can but just thought I'd ask...
austinguy23 8 months ago
@austinguy23 I do not think so. I wish they would make a .357sig barrel for it.

No need to safety check in the video, but if you do it, do it right
remove magazine then pull the slide.
you did pull the slide first allowing a possible round enter the chamber, then checking the magazine., wrong!
good video, thanks

@Justin20467 I did order mine from Kahr. Sounds like you got a bad set. Luckily their customer service is usually pretty quuick.

@Justin20467 Glad it worked out for you. Having to do a little fitting work seems to be common on a lot of wooden grips.

Nice work. I'm not a huge fan of Kahrs, but I could be persuaded to consider their steel guns.
Perfect for lawful concealed carry...it's sad how some apathetic folks seem terrified of this concept.
