grunge is more of a marketing buzzword than an actual genre. i see it as a musical descriptor... some people consider the melvins to be grunge. i'd say this music is pretty grungey. but then it's also very sludgy, and very early metalcore biohazard/crowbar type deal..
Lucky enough to see this band in a tiny room at Nottinham trent uni.
We used to see the guys quite often in Notts but I think they were embarassed by being recognised in public! Maybe its because my friends and i were a bunch of spotty 17 year olds who thought they were rock stars : )
Still kick ass!! curiosity : I have this song somewhere on a VHS from the '94 I guess, but I clearly remember the video was different. The band around an old castle, playing, mixed with images of industrial machines or something.
@ src456 : yes, this album its from 1992/93. Im 100% sure about that other version videoclip of this song. Im not able to rip VHS with my computer but maybe I can find where do that. I will post it, or at least some captions with my cam :S.
I remember seeing FT back in about '94 with Sepultura and Fear Factory... also Clutch. That was a fucking kick ass show. And FT tore the godamn roof down.
To my recollection, it was Clutch, Fudge Tunnel, Fear Factory (who actually got booed), then Sepultura....
I saw this at... uhh... The Riviera in Chicago. I vaguely recall like.. I think some guy in the hallway smoked a blunt with me or something.... but no matter of that, all the bands rocked pretty much... Clutch included.
With Fear Factory, it was mostly people just wanted to see Sepultura by then.
Remember when Fudge Tunnel were the "heaviest band in the world"? Maybe they weren't (entombed and morbid angel were on the same label!)but they were one if the best. RIP Fudge Tunnel.
By the way i had a t-shirt of theirs which said "putting satanism back into metal" on the back. Fookin class!! I wore it to a mass and everything!! Anyone know where i can buy it?
ah my man, that was a different time. maybe it's just me, but i found that heavy bands were less afraid of experimentation back then than they were now. i know i sound like a curmudgeon, but nowadays, you have all of these heavy groups who are more concerned with how their hair looks than the music.
fuckin a dude. i love it. this is the first song ive heard by this band. i heard bout em from listenin to nailbomb and as soon as i figured out the name of alex newports band was fudge tunnel i hadda check the shit out. glad i did. rockon fudge tunnel nailbomb sepultura cc n all that good shit. fuckin heavy dude.
fuckingdebutants : hell yeah. i was just shooting the shit with an old friend from school, reminiscing and such when he dropped the fudge tunnel bomb on my ass (so to speak) . It messed me up how i could have forgotten this band when i just about wore through this tape listening to it so damned much. I guess it must have been one of the many cd's/tapes that got swiped by various douche bag roommates over the years. I think i just watched this vid about 5 times in a row.
they are from Nottingham England. one of the bands I was in supported them back in the early 90,s at The world renownd Adelphi Club in Hull, my claim to fame !! this album was also recorded in Hull At fairveiw Studios.
You guys like this tune? Have a listen to Barkmarket, just type it into the window up top, they've got a few vids on youtube. Lead singer is Dave Sardy, surely should be hailed a god in the world of noise!
what the fuck? what the fuck is the matter with you? Barkmarket are an awesome band as are Fudge tunnel, and if you can't take anyones suggestions of new things to try, you should first of all go fuck yourself in the ass with a copy of NME, then spend the rest of your life listening to the charts on radio one, should be staid enough for you.

@bigsi1888 I wouldn't necessarily consider it grunge, but what is grunge really? Most people either say Nirvana, AIC, Sound Garden or Pearl Jam. Nirvana consists of mostly punk, specifically post hardcore, AIC is metallic metal, they started out as glam and then became grunge. Sound Garden is the stoner metal side of grunge, at least thats what they started out as. Pearl Jam is the folk and rock side of grunge. I consider this and Helmet to be very close to grunge. Post hardcore made grunge IMO
@Deango2 Well you had a few noghts sleep since that comment. But have to say I agree with much of that. Also worth noting that Layne Staley actually fronted a band that was speed metal while living with Jerry Cantrell in the early days. That influance is there in AIC. I don't think you can truly nail any genre as being pure looking at their repsective musical neighbours. You will see simularities, sure. And even progressions bands take can be in similar direction.
