Man...the daytime stages in unleashed were great, it's too bad this game had to be ruined by poor nighttime stages, a stupid plot and truly awful voice acting.
@bene3438 You must be crazy. Reviewers were right when they said the PS2 and Wii ports were better: they have a much more consistent level design. This looks overly disorganized, no matter how extreme it looks when you play it. Even the Generations remake of this level feels better executed.
On the clock tower, how much can you see of the stage? It looks like a bird-eye view of what you just runned through. Since the clock tower is the tallest building in the stage, it's hard to know where you started from the start of the stage. When your high on the tower, it's weird trying to backtrack where you were.
@AlfredGamer1 The way games work is that they don't actually load the whole stage at once. Parts of the stage appear as you approach them and disappear when you pass them. The only other parts of the stage visible when Sonic goes down the clock tower are the areas immediately before or after the clock tower.
@Overhazard i have proof to prove an disprove what you have just said.
once in sonic generations in sky sanctuary i jumped a little too far and ended up in an area that wasnt finished loading...
but in sonic unleashed in act 1 i saw a glitch where some guy just jumped out of the stage further onto the coarse, which would not have been loaded until he got to the area behind it, which he skipped.
i cant remember the name of the sonic unleashed vid though, so i never found it again.
@Kpsla That actually sort of proves what he just said... It's different for different games anyways. You didn't pass a certain loading checkpoint, and therefore the game glitched. However, its not like hat in all levels in all games. Sometimes, there's only certain parts where that's different. He's not really stating his opinion or theory: it's a fact that that's how a majority of video games work, including most sonic titles.
The reason why eggman reject the objectives like collecting the chaos emeralds instead he wants to do like releasing the demons that someone will obey eggman but refused.
I dont understand why people are putten the hate on this game. I like the night stages because they offer a different style of play other than run, run, run and run some more, not that i dont like the day stages I love them. The night time stages are just more of the hack and slash style of pay, like god of war which in my opinion is fun. I feel that saga nailed Sonic Unleashed right on the dot. (exp a few glitches)
This was crap on Wii. The graphics were bad, Night Level fighting sequences were even more annoying (you just had to swing the wii remote around and all the bad guys die) and they scarpped Empire City and all of Mazuri except for the boss.
I bought this game this summer in anticipation of Sonic Generations. I love it, except for the Night Stages of course. And even though I'm playing Generations right now, I will probably play Unleashed again some day, should I download the DLC then? or they're not really worth it ?
@MerryBlind There is a LOT of DLC for this game. If you want to try some extra stages, try picking up one of the Adventure Packs to see if you'd like them. Any of them will do.
@Overhazard Thanks for the reply, I'll probably try one of those Packs when I get back into it. I have to say, I think I preferred the Stages from Unleashed then Modern Sonic's ones in Generations, or maybe it's just because it felt fresh and new in Unleashed...
@Overhazard i own this for the ps2 and my friends say this won is alot more easier than the ps2 version but it seems weird how it doesnt have the stuff on it like this won whould you recomend me getting this version?? because i beat the game a bunch of times and i need a new challenge
You could see there that the PS3/360 version of Sonic Unleashed is a lot harder. Of course, you could go for Sonic Generations if you have either of those two systems.
@Overhazard THX BIG TIME i swear i've finished the ps2 and wii version so to hear that the ps3/xbox version is harder i got a new challenge FINALLY thx again
@madman18able It was an attempt to make a different style of gameplay for Sonic games, while some like me found them enjoyable, I'll admit that it wasn't a successful attempt.
@madman18able Not really. The game is quite generous with 1-Ups. Many of them are placed right in the open after a checkpoint. Just playing through the game as normal will allow you to reach 99 lives before long.
They suck, but it's not because of the lack of speed. They suck because sega tried to make an exploration-based gameplay (such as in God o' War series) fit in a time-limited stage where your objective is going from point A to point B. Had they actually suceded on making the exploration/fighting of night-stages feel rewarding, the speed wouldn't even be needed.
I could go on but youtube limit wouldn't allow me to.
@Overhazard I don't think he meant that you made Sonic Unleashed. He probably wanted to thank you for making the video and that Sonic Unleashed players seem to forget it started Sonic Colors and without it, Sonic Generations wouldn't be created the way it is now.
This particular act kicked my butt the first time I played it. I kept slamming into spikes, and I was unfortunate enough to land on one of the mine-covered rails. S-ranked it later, though.
Truth be told, I was hoping for Adabat/Jungle Joyride to appear in Generations. It would've been interesting to explore the submerged ruins for a change, not just run over them.
@NebulaShark I personally would've liked to see something that mostly takes place outside of an urban area, since over half of the Sonic Generations stages do.
i find it funny in sonics universe where hes just racing around humans city like a play ground. Don't they even see or even care a blue hedgehog is racing around at 300 MPH lol?
@AceKarizo He's faster than 300 mph by far. When 300mph was mentioned in an interview, it was referring to his playable speed. Any faster, and you'd be unable to play as him. Canonically though, he's much, MUCH faster than sound.
Honestly, Unleashed doesn't require "god like reflexes", it just requires you to replay the stage. The one problem in Unleashed (which it also seems to return in Generations) was that they had it where it threw you into objects. An example is like at 1:30. The player was throw into a hazard with little to no time to react.
As for the video? I love this Hard Mode variant a lot more than the other ones, maintaining boost is much harder. Very nice game-play, you plan on doing the rest of the DLC?
