  • A Amazing deep Bass....

  • SNOW CAN BURN YOUR EYES.

  • Pretty disappointing that no one grabbed a brush and joined in

  • I've always loved Lee Marvin. This is one of my favorite films of his. However, he's been in so many it's hard to decide which is number 1

  • I first saw this film when I was 5, didn't have a clue what it was but just saw it on 100 greatest musicals! FINALLY I KNOW!!

  • This is absolutely legendary and whilst I love the simpsons it should not be mentioned here!

  • gonna pain this wagon, gonna paint it fine, gonna use an oil-based paint cause this wood is pine

    PONDEROSA PINE

  • @AlexBulls93 OOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

  • Okay, enough Simpsons jokes.

  • this is one of my all time favorite movies, and i dont like musicals,,,,but i like this music and the comedy , lee marvin was great( howdy parson, welcome to hell) was funniest part of the movie

  • Hi Flutterguy ^^

  • How do i get a voice like that?

  • @reecenolan Honey, ya gotta be born with it !! Beautiful huh? What a guy !! :)"

  • @reecenolan Years of drinking crystal pepsi.

  • Such a sad and beautiful scene. And Lee Marvin was the perfect choice to sing it.

  • @Lammy4ever7 I was surprised to hear he had a great voice. Always loved his acting, and after this movie, his songs.

  • Eat your heart out, Beatles..... Lee Marvin singing was number #1 for 3 weeks !

  • Only people make you cry.

  • Bet Tom Waits was a fan of this great actor . RIP Lee

  • i covered this song..vocals ,harmonica ..kinda tom waits flavor.. lee marvin was a hardcore for real man- got shot in the ass by the japs.. most all his platoon was mowed down.. thats why he drank;; fuck anybody that that disrespect him..

  • @laterdudesaint Dude, Lee Marvin's getting shot in the ass by the Japs was NOTHING compared to his EPIC DIVORCE BATTLES! Look it up!

  • @Robert111

yep-i heard about that..he used to live down around tucson.

  • Simpsons fans, please watch the movie

  • @goherd3112 Ponderoh-sa pine! Oooo-oooh!!

  • Lee Marvin sings much better than Justin Bieber.

  • Wait, Here Comes Lee Marvin. Thank god he's always drunk and violent

  • "Paint your wagon" does not mean that on a literally meaning. I think it is a metaphor that means bringing home over your shoulder ... always moving your home is something you paint and change according to where you go. Paint a wagon as he says the movie is a dream, as if you paint your home ... dream of freedom ... you paint it, believe on it and always be moving. So I see on this way.

  • HEY! That's a pretty sorry lookin' wagon you got there mister.

  • so....is this really about painting wagons or what?...cause i wanted to see him paint a damn wagon

  • Marvin had a brilliant career.

  • Why are they singing and not killing each other????

  • Gonna paint a wagon. Gonna paint it fine. Gonna use oil based paint cuz the wood is pine

  • Aaah! They singing! They singing Marge. Why arn't they killing each other?

Ye! The guns are right there.

  • Great song, great movie.

  • This guy was a marine in WW2...tough as fuck in real life.

  • WHY ARNT THEY KILLING EACH OTHER? THEIR GUNS ARE RIGHT THERE!

  • I knew the song, i knew the movie, but until now i've never actually seen them together, thankyou so much for posting it :)

  • WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON IN MY TOWN????

  • I wonder if Lee Marvin wanted to show up in this scene and fight Singing Lee Marvin

I mean just punch Singing in the mouth

  • I wonder if Lee Marvin wanted to show up in this scene and fight Singing Lee Marvin

  • I was also born under a wondering star and this song tells it like it is for me. Right up there with "Freebird"

  • I love this song! I twas born

  • Oh My God they're Singing! Marge! Why aren't they killing each other? Their Guns are right there!

  • The Driver..THE DRIVER!.....(akaFox.Rock'sCzar!..ken you dig a little religion barbie! JESUS!)

  • A classic.

  • is this red dead redemption 2?

  • @mgmt4life we're just painting our wagon. you got a problem with that?

  • @sheemobile As a matter of fact yes. You missed a spot.

  • @Redgrant80 well, grab a brush and join in!

  • @mgmt4life We just painting this here wagon....u got a problem with that?

  • this and i talk to the trees were the only songs i liked and remembered from this movie...

  • Yup-yup. If the receiving end gets it, it wasn't wasted breath. And it looks like a lot of people - to this day - get it: the atmosphere, the tone, the emotions, the message of "melancholy" we all feel sometimes.

  • Why aren't they killing each other? Their guns are right there!

  • why the hell is he singing? :O why isnt he shooting :'O

  • Us truckers were born under a wandering star. I've been all over the US and Canada.

  • He is amazing. It must have taken guts to sing with such a narrow range. But he surely carried the message through. Singing is not just about vocal ability - it's about expressing feelings as well. (Too bad lots of singers don't know that purring is sometimes better than yowling &howling:)

  • @TheMargold The hit that song right off, it has emotion to it, he obviously knew it. Any fool can sing, oh lord the radio is loaded with screamers trying to fake it.

  • It's silly to have Lee Marvin sing, but he did a creditable job on it. At least they gave him a song that fits his voice.

  • Because the wood is piiiiiine!

  • I'll take Lee Marvin over John Wayne any day of the week!!

  • Epic.

  • WTF!?! This is a real movie ?!?

  • For a wanderer he ain't moving very fast :P.

  • I'm only 25, play in a punk band, and have no problem admitting that I love this song. Absolutely amazing.

  • he may not have been a rockstar but no one could have sing this melody better then him....... it really suit him 100%. I just love it.

  • @ravona100 Yep, me too, his voice just seems to fit the drifter tone that the song is about

  • Magic

  • Was it really 1968 that this was in the charts? I was 8 years old then!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • i like this song jus cuz lee marvin did it

  • what a voice-what a man!

    ezcoach :O)

  • they just don't make em like Marvin anymore . RIP

  • Lee Marvin sounds much better than many of today's 'singers'.

  • I forgot how terrible the singing is...

  • they're singing!

why aren't they killing eachother?! their guns are right there!

  • @TheSS3DarkPrince & @S0undBite

you both sound like idiots here. give it a rest and walk away.... go paint a wagon or something.

  • @lanestradler Thanks but no thanks, I'd like to continue to defend myself thank you, but if you have the wagon I'll give it to my parent's, my dad might like to screw around with it, or not, free wagon right?

  • @lanestradler Thanks but no thanks, I'd like to continue to defend myself thank you, but if you have the wagon I'll give it to my parent's, my dad might like to screw around with it, or not, free wagon right?

  • you gotta die of something live life to the full rip lee

  • I was born under the union jack

  • @HateFenians Me too my friend!

  • So Was Lee Marvin, Marvin an English/Mainland surname.

  • Hard to believe he was in his mid-forties when he sang/talked this.

  • This song beat the Beatles songs for 3 weeks in the UK that year or so.

  • Gona paint our wagon, gonna paint it good

  • simpsons brought me here

  • ...only people make you cry...true

  • Loved Lee Marvin in this movie !!!!!!

  • always figured tom waits was coping someone

  • i playe this at my fathers funeral ROGER TYLER...I LOVE SO MUCH...I MISS YOU TO

  • We all know that Lee Marvin and Clint Eastwood can't sing; that's no reason to avoid this movie. With their average voices, they become the true "every man" character in this movie, representing the feelings all viewers go through in their lives. This is a great song from a good movie. No one else could have sung this with any more feeling or talent and made it as believeable.

  • I've never seen the end of Paint Your Wagon...because this song always sends me too sleep...Thanks Marvin!

  • @peter007taylor You missed the funniest fifteen minutes in cinema. "We finally made a town just the way we wanted it, and then we went and sunk it." Definitely worth watching...repeatedly.

  • THERE SINGING! WHY ARN'T THEY KILLING EACH OTHER?!

  • This was the first ever Movie I went too, It takes me back a very long way, I can even taste the ice cream.

  • WORST part of this movie is Clint Eastwood singing...embarrassing...

  • The world will never see the likes of this man ever again a REAL MAN and a great actor. rest in peice lee.

  • @wienerx LMAO! EARLY SIMPSONS...FTW!

  • welcome to hell preacher

  • One of my all time favorite movies! Great share.

  • I have always loved this I remember when school broke up for Christmas and we had a half day at school I was 13 at the time and it was snowing outside and I got home in time to see this movie on tv and loved it I always have cosy memories of watching this movie on tv sipping hot chocolate and eating buscuits.

  • One of my favorite songs from this awesome movie :)

  • I don't think anyone will ever do a better job on this song - just a perfect rendition.

  • HE'S SINGING! WHY IS HE SIGNING!?

  • "Wanderin' Star" from Paint Your Wagon.

  • Name of song?

  • Saturday afternoon, westerns with my da

  • here comes lee marvin.....thank god! he's always drunk and violent!

  • @TankMurdock Perfect comment :D

  • @TankMurdock but they have their guns right there!

  • @TankMurdock D'oh !!

  • I miss this actor. I saw him once at a shopping mall in Tucson and he was so friendly and relaxed. What an immense talent.

  • ....cuz the wood is piiine!

  • yod did the job lee

  • John and his Dog: I don't know when you posted this but I think your choice of a song for your Father's funeral is perfect. Perfect.

  • Thanks. Hopefully it won't be for a long long time, but I think it suits him.

  • My dad IS Lee Marvin's character- he's been an actual cowboy (1950's Wyoming-and fought off bears), a zookeeper, painter, truck driver, theatre manager (notably the Palace Theatre in Luverne, Minnesota), minister.

  • @johnandhisdog so he's a drunkard who wanders around the west in search of riches, hoping to get as much pussy as he can along the way?

    Huh...what a dad...

  • @jambowowow way to not read what I said, or to take any meaning out of it!

  • the movie is actually from 69 not 68

  • I once made a recommendation to my Dad that he have "Happy Trails" played at his funeral. I have since added "Wandrin' Star" to the list, but Dad had a stroke so he isn't able to make new memories. If anyone has comment, I would like to hear them (unless your comment is something about how I shouldn't be considering my father's funeral)

  • Good call. It's a song that can mean a lot of things to different people and invokes a sense of freedom. I have told my family that I want the Beatles "In my LIfe" played at my funeral. If you can see the relevance of "Wanderin' Star" to your dad's life and think he'd like it, then when the time arrives, do it.

  • Harve Presnell has the best singing voice in this movie. I saw him in two other movies where I did not recognize him is in "Fargo" and "Saving Private Ryan" where he played General Marshall. I saw his name in the movie credits and is the only reason how I knew.

  • This was an excellent movie! My favorite. Who ever produced this movie knew a great deal about the California gold rush. The costumes, the saloons and its decor and even some of the people portrayed in the movie! Did you know the the nerdy character from Wooster Massachuessetts, Horace Tabor actually extisted? Horace Tabor (real name) came to the gold fields and later opened an Opera house in Sacramento.

  • this song reminds me of me.

  • Is that singing or grunting?

  • That is just pure badass...neither singing or grunting!

  • "Home is made for comin from, for dreams of going to- which with any luck will never come true...." Love this song, Love Marvin's delivery- thanks for posting!

  • good movie Great song BUT they call the wind Maria is a classic to the movie for the time and the type of song to kick the movie off!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • It was the only decent song in this fucking awful crapfest.

  • I thought it was a great movie, funny, dramatic, great scenery..ect..

  • Tone death and all, his graveley and whiskeyed baritone effortlessly squeezes every nuance of meaning out of this ballad.

  • willem van hoorn Klasse acteurs geweldige muziek en klassieke western. zo worden ze helaas niet meer gemaakt

  • Gonna paint a wagon, gonna paint it good.

  • "Hell is in hello...." he, he! Thank you.

  • a wandern star

  • I have been to the actual site where the city was built. Nothing left but tall grass their used to be some remnents of the cabin where Marvin lived but thats gone now. There is a sign posted by the Oregon forest service that says" This is the site of where "Paint your wagon" was filmed. Its about 20 miles or so out of Baker City, OR

  • Someone posted that they filmed it just outside of MODESTO Ca.....he said he visited the set with his Mom when he was a kid and his Mom talked with Harve Presnell,

  • It was mostly filmed in Oregon and some in California. They actually built the small town in Oregon and demolished it when they were done. There are some concrete foundations where the bridge used to be. Its been a while since I've been up there but I'd like to go back take some pictures and see if i can find anything from the film site.

  • snow will burn your eyes but only people make you cry

  • I love this really much, I've never heard anything like him before :o <3

  • Lee Marvin one of the greatest character actors of our time,I cried the day he died.

  • @tarzantula so did I

  • I've heard a lot of references to this song in various TV shows and such, now I finally know what they're talking about :)

  • @TheSS3DarkPrince is that why you ended up being gay?

  • @S0undBite Aww, commenting on a comment that was made over a year ago? You so smart and funneh :D

Either way, you seem to like to try and cause trouble, unfortunately, it doesn't work when the person you are trying to make mad is so much more sophisticated and smarter than what you are, which by the looks of your grammar, you aren't very smart at all. Good day sir.

  • @TheSS3DarkPrince I don't care about making you mad, I can't control how you feel, but that does not make you any less of a fag, good day sir... lol, yeah, point made

  • @S0undBite Point made? Really? Well, if you mean fag as in faggot, are you meaning to say I am a meat ball? Were you abused as a child? Are you still abused now? I'd go seek help if I was you, and thanks for calling me a sir.

  • @TheSS3DarkPrince seriously dude, your just digging a deeper hole for youself, next you'll be quoting broadway. Take a xanax and get your boyfriend to oil your back

  • @S0undBite Broadway? Boyfriend? Damn you sure are a funny person aren't you? You seem to think I can't handle myself again you, problem is, you are a complete idiot who trying to insult people hoping they're weak enough to get themselves bullied, well unfortunately I will not quit. You continue to insult me, and I will continue to laugh in your face and show the pathetic person you really are.

  • @TheSS3DarkPrince what are you going to do? paint my wagon...

  • @S0undBite No thanks, helping you would be a stupid thing to do, I may however get you some English Grammar lessons, you could use them.

  • @TheSS3DarkPrince I think you could use not being such a fag...

  • @S0undBite I'll give you a dictionary to help you with your vocabulary too!
