Delicious... yeap..! like that comment on whether your husband insist on playing pipes..! what a comment... just made me laugh..
anyhow, me personally i add up a bit of chopped green chillies.. turns out great for my taste... international cooking is a creative thing, i believe..!
You are not eating it as a salad , nor just blanching it with a slash of boiling water , this is a sustained simmering .
While the " Flash-Freezing " of frozen spinach does burst the cell walls of the vegetable , the simmering does exactly the same , so there should be little final difference in the dish - except that using frozen spinach , which contains a lot of water already , you dont need quite as much water in there for the rice to cook .
perfect and simple

does your husband insist on playing pan pipes in the kitchen everytime you cook?

there is a " Cheat " you can do with this , as follows ;-
Defrost a pack of frozen spinach .
Boil your rice ( just in the normal way you'd make boiled rice ) .
Rinse the boiled cooked rice with a kettle full of boiling water ( gets the starch out ) .
put the drained hot rice in a microwaveable dish .
Add to taste Salt , pepper , dried dill (optional ) and FINELY chopped onion (any) .
Add a big knob of butter , and mix everything well .
Add the spinach and mix well again .
reheat a bit + serve
