In 1944, knowing WW2 was lost, Martin Bormann and German industrialists began moving Nazi looted wealth into corporations around the world to jump-start the 4th Reich. Operation MARKET-GARDEN's Paratroopers holding bridges across the Rhine river into the German industrial heartland threatened their escape,
so Illuminati member Peter Smith --the famous Grenadier Guards Major who refused to move his tanks past Nijmegen bridge to link-up with Frost's men at Arnhem bridge even when 82nd Airborne Para Infantry offered to clear any AT guns--deliberately sabotaged the mission for the Nazis.
He is known today as Lord Carrington who afterwards chaired the evil Bilderbergers conspiracy group--which first met in Arnhem to mock the dead with their getaway. The brave British troops were betrayed by their officers.
Yet another reason why Airborne units must be complete combined-arms teams with light tanks etc. to prevent political back-stabs. Fascist German/Japanese money stolen from the 62M WW2 dead still runs the world today.

the real reason operation market gerden failed was in fact very simple. brittish officers believed that the end of the war was only weeks if not days away and that hitler would surrender as the russians came from the west and the other allies from the west and south. As far as the average officer was concerned operation market garden was going to be a walk in the park, with the germans surrendering easily. some officers even talked about bring their golf clubs.
True & False. Had the British 1st Airborne COMMANDER Browning been more competent and Monty more FLEXIBLE you imply all they had to do was fight "tougher"--NO, they had to DO THINGS TANGIBLY BETTER as our videos detail.
Rommel was deprived of personnel, equipment and above all fuel by a combination of Hitler seeing North Africa as a sideshow and British aircraft and submarines sinking his supply ships.
Montgomery had a 2:1 numerical superiority in infantry, something like a 6:1 numerical superiority in tanks, but to his credit he did have a good plan in fooling Rommel that an outflanking attempt was coming in the south when he actualy attacked in the north
The movie is a lie. Guards Armoured Division stopped just beyond Nijmegen because 1. It was almost dark. 2. all infantry were still securing Nijmegen town and 3. they had to rearm and refuel.
Jim Gavin (82nd) should have taken Nijmegen town or at least the bridge on day 1 (17th sept) or day 2 (18th sept) - (AS ORDERED)
FALSE. General Gavin had to FIRST take the HEIGHTS then the bridge. American Airborne infantry offered to ride British tanks to move ahead but the Brit tankers refused. Also, Hobart's Canal defense Light medium tanks with searchlights were available. Monty/Browning and XXX Corps fuked this up.
In 1999, I had a patient who flew over Omaha Beach just after D-Day. So, little had been cleaned up. He said "they" never told the American public how many casualties fell on the beach.
Badfish93 the book, and this movie was made before, the truth of Market garden was known, Monty was just another brick in the wall, he did what he was told to do, by Churchill,, Patton suffered the same fate, reduced to being a P R Puppet, because Ultra was more important than any Field Marshall. Dude its all there for the reading, in the Official Records now available, was Monty a Twat ? Yes and No,,,, Yes because he was inflexible, No because, he may Not understood the Impact of Ultra
Thanks keir, plus we all look at this with generous hindsight!..after all if we knew the full german plans we would have won hands down with differing tacttics
FALSE, we DID know German plans by the ULTRA SECRET and we still took heavy losses because our foot-slogging and truck hopping American WAY OF WAR was weak then--as it is NOW. We know how to fix this today so we have no excuse like it was all new to us like it was in WW2.
So what it was planned in haste? More reason to USE EVERYTHING YOU HAVE GOT since your plan will be weaker than something more thought-out. The Germans like Rommel could execute ops faster because they were stronger in general in combined-arms teams
@Badfish93 Actually I think you'll find that Douglas Haig has gone down as the worst Field Marshal ever and even though Monty is not popular doesn't enjoy a good reputation even his harshest critics said that OVERLORD would not have been a success without him and that he was a good general but overcautious and self-absorbed.
If XXX Corps tanks had carried on after they captured the Nijmegan bridge this plan would have worked, there were no German troops between there and Arnhem, this pause gave them time to move in troops. Johnny Frosts men truely lived up to their nickname "The Red Devils," 500 men against an SS Panzer Div, for 7 days.
the bicycles coulda helped, but then so would more anti-tank weapons like the PIAT. they were facing PANZER divisions. also the radios were fucked, so even if there were bicycles, how would coordination occur amongst the troops with non working radios. this is a lovely video though. great work.
allies were lucky to have gotten past Nijmegen. Germans should've blown that up right away but they waited until the last moment and of course it didn't blow up.
Johnny Frost and his boys were brilliant, as one might expect. If they didn't have bikes, it's because Market Garden was rushed. 1st Brit Airborne Div was betrayed. Browning ignored intelligence reports about enemy armour, and Monty wanted to end the war ahead of Patton. XXX Corps linking with 2 para at Arnhem, the big media photo opportunity.
I think he means the plans to divide Germany after the war were already set in stone, Rusky, American, British + French sectors, so we would have had to pull out of Berlin anyway.
In either case, the British Para's at Arnhem are legend. No other troops could have held out for so long under such impossible odds. Everyone spends so much time bashing Monty they forget about the heroics of people like Frost and Cain. Market Garden was a blooper but then thats war unfortunately.
great video..very interesting..thanks!

Montgemery has gone down has the worst field marshall ever hell. an inexperinced Lieutenant could do a better job of planning an attack
Badfish93 3 years ago
However, Montie played a very valuable part at the battle of the bulge. Not generally known.
funkyalfonso 2 years ago
Not realy true - it was planned in haste (only 7 days before it took place)
D day was planned several months in advance
2 years earlier Montgomery had defeated Rommel ( who at the time was considered - and had been proven to be - a genius tactician and stratergist)

Not using Hobart's Funnies and/or light tanks or folding bikes is a failure to COMBINE ARMS

that's why we needed amphibious and air-landed light tanks so if we lose a bridge we can hold a river crossing

Bit stupid, Considering the Iron Curtain would of come up anyway considering the plans where already laid down long before the war was over.
Britishempirepride 4 years ago
WHERE would the curtain have come up? Had we taken ALL of Germany there would have been no wall dividing them. That's the point you missed.
