I have an SX SST 57 3/4 scale it has an alder body 1 volume and 2 tone plus a tremelo (I don't use it but nice to have) A great quality guitar I got it from rondo music for 100.00 same as your Squier and it plays great ,came set up to play out of the box unlike the squier mini your playing,it is a better all around made guitar quality blows Squier out of the water.Squier maybe good if they had good quality control like Ibanez does.I also have a Ibanez mikro I love.
@9pasadena9 I'm not hating just stating the truth about Squier's quality it sucks. What do you play I own a SX 3/4 SST57 strat a Dean EVO/XM a Douglas halo(gibson explorer copy) an I banez mikro and a Glen Burton acoustic (not that great of a guitar but paid 50 bucks for it) I don't play enough anymore and am not that good but i know good gear and have played both Fenders and Gibsons (Les Paul studio)as well as a high end Taylor.
@DrummerGrrrl I don't have the best guitars but they are better made quality wise than the mini Squire thats what my comment was about and not hating the guitat the quality at factories is the big issue.
@damageplan67: I apologize. After I made that snippy remark, I went and checked out the Ibanez Mikro vids on youtube and... well, like I said, I owe you an apology! And... I may have to check out the Mikro at the local Guitar Center! I really am sorry for making such a moronic comment when I hadn't even tested out the Mikro!! Sigh. I can be such a smart ass sometimes...
@9pasadena9 Hey fuck wad if you knew anything you would see that in my comment the guitars i have are budget also 100.00 to 150.00 and better quality than the Squier and were playable out of the box tune and play unlike the mini squier that I would buy if quality control were better sorry I've heard and known people alot who had bad unplayable ones.
As for the tuners being the culprit for going out of tune easily, I'm more inclined to say that cheap plastic nut needs replaced before anything else.
Anything you do to this guitar will cost more than the guitar... Think of it as an experimental platform... YES, I am getting new pups at some point for sure. The stock ones are a tad harsh played clean, neck especially. But start with the tuners. Their replacement is must.
I find that with these shorter scale guitars it's easier to use thicker gauge string and thereby get a better, fuller sound, rather like the guitar sound of the early 60s. I don't bend intensely, so I've used 11 for the top E down to 46 for Bottom E, giving it a lot more tonality, especially for picking and chords. Plus, an 11 breaks a lot less than a 9.
Sure, why not? I recommend that you have the store set it up properly, though, even if it would cost a little extra. (Which is true for an guitar, not just this one,)
i just bought a jacksone and i have a squier, strat, lesspaul epiphone,sg jay turser and an ibenes, sthe beast gutare is ibenise and jacksone there made in us and germinny
i just bought one except mine is red and i bought a vox amp tuner and and book im going to be committed to learning how to play/is it betteer to learn by notes or frets?
i would recommend learning both. learn notes and chords first, so that once you transfer over into learning tabs and fret numbers, it will be much easier.
Ps Like your Mini Strat video - I like the fact the tuners are not so good - it makes you a better player - they are definately more stable with larger strings - as of course the scale length is short so they can handle a thicker string.
whoever is thinking of buying one i highly recommend that you dont. I have one, it was my first electric guitar. It is good for players who are like five years old but it is not a good guitar. There are just fifteen frets and my strings constantly fall out of the nut. If you want a bluesy guitar go for a Fender Squier Stratocaster. Its a great bluesy guitar. And if you dont have money to buy that guitar buy a Fender Squier Start its 200 bucks cheaper
This guitar was $99, and in my very subjective opinion, it's a great buy. Just try out the one you buy carefully. After $100 worth of guitar set-up with my local luthier, I am impressed by the playability of this guitar. Judge for yourself.
i bought mine for a hundred dollars and it came with a case and a amp. I mean its a good deal. The body is plywood....when did you buy it. After about a week i bought mine i was having problems with the bridge, nut and the middle pickup. They gave me a new one and the same thing happened about a month later. I gave up on it. If you want a guitar thats cheap buy the epi lp special II. A man with your skill should be playing a LP or Strat or somehting.
Sorry chum - I have been playing and selling guitars most of my life and for the money the Squire mini is easily the best small guitar. Check out my video response.
Hi Yes a few miles away - all gone now. The last few weeks the same place is being used for the filming of the new Robin Hood film with Russel Crow and Kate Blanchet. Its amazing over 200 horses bought in (old breeds) 600 + extras - the largest film set ever in Britain.
hey man that was pretty cool im thinkin about buying one because i mostly have heavy metal guitars and i want somthing thats more jimi hendrix style or bluesy, btw what scales should i use to solo if i am trying to do some blues?
The current mini Squiers are listed at 20.75 inches by Fender, although that seems hard to believe. I do remember they used to be 22.75 like yours. Not so long ago, there also used to be a MIM Strat with a 22.75 neck called the Stratocaster Junior. Nearly impossible to find now. Black only, I'd like to find one. Saw one once in a store but it was the same price as a full-sized MIM, so I got cheap about it. Shoulda bought it.
Neither. It's 22.75. You can also try a Rondo's GX series strat with 24" necks. I have one of those too. The only thing is the neck of the Squier is thinner and more comfortable (to me.)
yes, I tune it at the regular pitch, but I do use gauge 010-046. The 009 they come with are too rubbery. It's one one my favorite guitars, and i have owned both fenders and gibsons.
I have a Squier Mini and just love it. Its alo the same color as your Mini. Even though I'm going to try to star playing my brother's Ibanez guitar I'll still keep the Squier.
It's the original set up with 009 strings in the video, but I am about to replace them with an 010 set. I have also bought new tuning pegs. I am playing through a Peavey Classic 30 watt all-tube amp in the video, which has a great sound ($300 on eBay)
i got mine for 50

That guitar sounds rather horrible.
And it's not your playing, which is rather good; so that means it's the guitar.
Then again, sometimes it's fun to play Blues with a "trashy" sound !
Thanks for the demo.

I am used to playing the bass though, so it's kind of dramatic difference in size.

the pickguard probably isnt though
but i was wondering about the bridge and tuning keys
thank you . nice playing
artifact26 2 years ago
Yes, I believe bridge and tuning keys are the same size as a full-size strat, from a visual inspection, anyway.
bjornkom 2 years ago
Yup. Just compared my mini to my full-size Squier strat and tuning keys, bridge and pickups, even, are the same as the full-size.
