Ahh the good ol playstation underground day's lol.
I remember watching this demo over and over and over and over.... then once the Game Actually game out I was shocked to see that none of what was in the demo was even in the game itself. Its like it was completely redone, kinda wish they kept the crawling zombie torso but nope.
Its said that 70% of the game was completed, would like to see it released one day.
@thebizkit69u I hear the entire game was completed but Capcom scrapped it anyway. I would've loved to have played this. Not that RE2 was bad but RE1.5 looks great as well.
@thebizkit69u I think there was a crawling torso in RE2, I remember once shooting a zombie with a shotgun, only to see it's upperbody crawl after me and it's legs continue to walk towards me. The legs fell down eventually but the torso kept attacking til I killed it.
@LucienXavier Yeah I think you are right. Either that or it was RE3 but now that I think about it, I think I do remember shooting a zombie in RE2 and it split it in half, in the police station.
it is more disturbing. but lacks the scope of what resident evil 2 brought to the game. i wish they'd do an HD remake of RE2 on Xbox Live Arcade (ala Monkey Island). Its not like capcom is doing anything important these days...

It really does look creepier; darker; more thrilling and terrifying than RE2. I would love some time to play what does exist.
yes you should play them all....I played them all now...on PC at lest with some cheat codes at times :D but I did beat RE3 on my own on easy on ps1.....and then played resident evil 2 and than resident evil 3 with a infinite ammo gun or powerful gun on PC..but yea..me thinking about playing the remake of 1 and 0 later on gamecube...but right now i'm focused on getting biohazard outbreak and a japanese ps2 for whats left of that cool resident evil outbreak online coop game!
lo the zombie in 1:31 kind of looks like future Leon (well, it has the jacket anyway... I think). But yeah, this looks like it would of been awesome if they went through with it! It looks so much creepier!
@MultiGamerGuy, no, not just. But, it's true that it has made it even more appealing. Is Capcom blind, I wonder? I still think it could become a commercial success, even with the ‘dated’ graphics. I'm sure people who like the [good old] Resident Evil/Bio Hazard franchise will really enjoy this and buy it.

Those jerks from Capcom don't even realize that if they would release it now - this title could be a perfect money maker for them. Not to mention this looks WAY better than the RE2 we know and have today. This could easily be the best selling game in the whole RE series.
if only theyd release this all theyd have to do is patch it so it dont crash they dont even have to finish it plus i know copies exsist as the playstation museum website managed to get a hold of it
yesterday i found a website that had a file NAMED resident evil 1.5 iso but you had to buy a membership plus i hear capcom doesnt want anybody even playing this game and they will , "bring legal action to anybody that plays it"
If they release the full version of this game on psp, then I would definitely buy it. The graphics are kinda out dated now, but damn... older resident evil games are more scarier than they are now!!!
If they do plan to release this game but in a remake version, then I hope they don't fuck it up as the dark horror enviroment in this game looks nicely done!
i think the reason older resident evil games are scarier is because they leave more to the imagination. sure, the graphics suck, and all the monsters are a pixelized, poligonical mess, but the ambiguity gives you NIGHTMARES!
If capcom would only listen to their hardcore fans the RE franchise known today would be much better, scary and atmospheric. Also releasing this game would make a small fortune from all the fans, im sure of it.

I THINK it started out to be a horror game to begin with, but now it's more of an action game. Sure, the games now is still great, but honestly, capcom definitely have lost it's touch on making the games.
That's actually William Birkin, not Tyrant, and I believe he says "Sherry..." That's pretty cool, by the way. He sounds and looks more gruesome in this version.
Anyway, I know they had their reasons to scrap this, but watching these videos and reading about all the differences just makes you dying to see what twists this story had in store for us.
I wish they would remake this on modern consoles - I like all the atmospheric blues and the environment actually resembles a real police station instead of the art-museum-designed-by-a-schizophrenic that the final RE2 went with.

RE4 is over-rated. If RE2 were remade just like RE1 was, it would be the best hands down. After playing what I did of RE5, I am severely disappointed.

RE4 is just a completely different game with the Resident Evil title slapped onto it. You could substitute different characters into the game and make it work. It has barely anything to do with the Resident Evil story.
i agree 100% ... i hate re4 with a huge passion because i knew right away when it came out, resident evil will never be resident evil again... i think watchin the movie degeneration was better than playing 4 and 5... silent hill is still pretty fuckin scary but it kinda sucks compared to older ones.... theres no reaction from the character... oh no scary monsters..... but i'm a army guy or whatever so i ain't scared... shit i'm more scared than the main character the whole time
really? 3 is arguably worse than 4. 4 really fell apart towards the end, and 5 was a complete joke, but i thought 4 was actually scary and really a step in the right direction. They lost their minds and made the 5th one, but you can't blame 4 for that...

Thats because this is only a BETA and they recycled the sounds from RE1, if it was publicly released they would have new sounds but they dont put all that extra stuff in till the end, and they never got up to that stage as far as i know

People, this is from a version o RE 2 that was scrapped completely before they started anew on the version we all know and love. I would love to get my hands on this, they were 65% done with the game when they descided to scrap it and start over. Sweet vid!
the woman you play as in this version is not claire AT ALL but a competely different person named elza walker who was basically the only difference between elza and claire is that elza isnt related to chris.
heh resi 2 was still fairly similiar :P. RE1- make your way through a mansion solving puzzles to get to the gardens/gaurdhouseand then into a lab. Kill the tyrant and set off the self destruct sequence, escape in time after defeating tyrant again. RE2- make your way through a police station solving puzzles to get to the sewers and into a lab. Set off the self destruct sequence and kill a final boss, escape in time and THEN kill Birkin again. Although in re1 you had to go in the mansion twice.
Re4 isn't even a Resident Evil game. Resident Evil was all about zombies. Basically Capcom sold out die hard zombie fans. If you want to get someone addicted to crack give them a little bit then when you know they're addicted jack up the price and only give them half of what they originally paid for. This is exactly what Capcom is doing with RE4 and 5.
I agree. I wish they would have kept the good old zombies in it.. But whatever, RE4 was fun and RE5 looks cool.. I just wish zombies would come back, RE2 was such a classic, I loved it! One of my favorite games..

This is how Resident Evil should be. Now its like Capcom doesn't even give a shit about the series anymore. I'm not even excited about RE5 coming out because the games no longer look, play, or feel like RE. RE 1.5 is the goldmine that none of us fans will ever get to experience.

I always thought and still think the 1.5 version looked a lot better I know claire's uniform is ridiculous but I remind you all that she came to raccoon city on a motorcycle in the cold.
Tbh, RE2 is my favourite RE out of the whole series simply because it has the best storyline, also the graphics are better. The graphics in 1.5 just look like RE1 but in a different environment, however, I wouldn't mind playing this version if it was ever to be released, I remember seeing sneakpeaks of this version in a playstation magazine back in 1997 before they scrapped it. Maybe capcom might release it to PSN like street fighter.
I have played code veronica actually... quick to pressume much? (also read my comment properly, i stated out of the whole series...) as much as I enjoyed the game and the storyline, I simply love RE2 storyline, there's no harm in having my own opinion is there?
dont u miss when the games had character lol now and days the games are so simple with just good graphics YAWN! i want it all good graphics and a great story line like in this game you had multiple paths before you got to where you needed to be now the games just have one simple path
I remember when I first saw this review in a Game Informer. I was excited but I thought Clair looked like a dumbass. I like the current RE2 more. I was kind of suprised you never find a shooting range in the game though, since half the game takes place in a police station... oh well.

there is a concept art of Leon with a bloodhound behind him for the game but as far as i know the dog itself was never to be seen in game.

i agree 100% ... i hate re4 with a huge passion because i knew right away when it came out, resident evil will never be resident evil again... i think watchin the movie degeneration was better than playing 4 and 5... silent hill is still pretty fuckin scary but it kinda sucks compared to older ones.... theres no reaction from the character... oh no scary monsters..... but i'm a army guy or whatever so i ain't scared... shit i'm more scared than the main character the whole time

really? 3 is arguably worse than 4. 4 really fell apart towards the end, and 5 was a complete joke, but i thought 4 was actually scary and really a step in the right direction. They lost their minds and made the 5th one, but you can't blame 4 for that...

@k4nc3r to me, 3 was better than 4 overall. but 4 wouldve been better than all re's if it had stuck to zombies and the survival horror. your totally right about the ending. it was rediculous. and 5 WAS a complete and utter joke. they were just scraping the barrel to make easy money. and lol 14$ for re5 shit dlc. i like the new camera angle, but it should be like RE 3.5 [cancelled one]. when the character is just walking or running- classic angle, but when you aim it goes into re4 style shooting.

Capcom could make so much money by remaking their classic RE games, I don't understand why they don't do that. ya they would make a boatload of money but they are SLACKING ALOT. they are falling into the category of lazy game companys. *sigh* just like bethesda and bioware. REmake was an amazing game. I think thats my fav cause i got it on the wii couple years ago with with RE:0. now they just want cheap money hence umbrella,darkside chronicles and their new "psp game series" which will take like a couple months to make. i hope they realize that they will loose all or most of their fans if they dont stop

Thats because this is only a BETA and they recycled the sounds from RE1, if it was publicly released they would have new sounds but they dont put all that extra stuff in till the end, and they never got up to that stage as far as i know

People, this is from a version o RE 2 that was scrapped completely before they started anew on the version we all know and love. I would love to get my hands on this, they were 65% done with the game when they descided to scrap it and start over. Sweet vid!

heh resi 2 was still fairly similiar :P. RE1- make your way through a mansion solving puzzles to get to the gardens/gaurdhouseand then into a lab. Kill the tyrant and set off the self destruct sequence, escape in time after defeating tyrant again. RE2- make your way through a police station solving puzzles to get to the sewers and into a lab. Set off the self destruct sequence and kill a final boss, escape in time and THEN kill Birkin again. Although in re1 you had to go in the mansion twice.

Re4 isn't even a Resident Evil game. Resident Evil was all about zombies. Basically Capcom sold out die hard zombie fans. If you want to get someone addicted to crack give them a little bit then when you know they're addicted jack up the price and only give them half of what they originally paid for. This is exactly what Capcom is doing with RE4 and 5.

Tbh, RE2 is my favourite RE out of the whole series simply because it has the best storyline, also the graphics are better. The graphics in 1.5 just look like RE1 but in a different environment, however, I wouldn't mind playing this version if it was ever to be released, I remember seeing sneakpeaks of this version in a playstation magazine back in 1997 before they scrapped it. Maybe capcom might release it to PSN like street fighter.

I remember when I first saw this review in a Game Informer. I was excited but I thought Clair looked like a dumbass. I like the current RE2 more. I was kind of suprised you never find a shooting range in the game though, since half the game takes place in a police station... oh well.
