I am arab and personally I think it's hilarious how every ethnicity an country wants to claim her. "SHE'S SPANISH" "NOOO SHE'S COLOMBIAN' "GUYS SHE'S ARAB."
Lets just get it right, Shakira is of Spanish, Lebanese, an Italian descent. She was born and raised in Colombia, it's her home. SHE IS COLOMBIAN.
What also pisses me off is the Lebanese and Syrians trying to pass off for Phoencian.I'm sorry do you speak ARABIC or PHOENCIAN. Get an education, or take some time to understand your heritage.

Ok people pay attention...her father is of Lebanese descent. She's mainly of Latin descent. She first saw belly dancing as a child in a restaurant and learned how from her (guessing paternal) grandmother. She even spoke out about her pride in her heritage and how what's going on in the middle east makes her sad. Yes, it might only be a small portion of her blood but it's important to her and...here's the good part; Who gives a daym?! With all that natural talent and beauty it shouldn't matter.

She has Lebanese descent because her grand parents were Lebanese (father side). His father was born in USA, her mother is Colombian with Spanish descent, just look at her surnames!!! Lebanon is a multicultural society , some consider themselves arabs especially the muslims and a lot especially the Christians are not arabs , they were in Lebanon way before the muslim arabs invaded Lebanon and the region . they remained Christians and didn't integrated with the arab muslims . learn to respect others.

If your father and mother are Germans but you are born and raised in a Latin country, you are undoubtedly a Latin person. Shakira is a Colombian Latin woman with Arabic heritage and there's no contradiction in it.

You need to be very precise when singing Arabic.. hence the little pronunciation differences like kaf and qaf. 7aa and haa >..< and so on so forth! she is horrible at singing..she is famous for her dancing not singing...she'S Colombian just in case...(father THAT LEFT HER was from Lebanon...that's it!)...she grew up in Colombia...in south america nobody listens to her...only usa or elsewhere...she use to just sing latin pop rock then she found a way to make more money showing more skin and dancing (thus landing bigger contract and first album in english in USA in 2000) and the rest is history.

I think the dubai show was recorded because to promote tourism in dubai and also it's Shakira first ever concert in Dubai
